Played it recently on PS5 through PS Plus and loved it that i instantly bought the story dlc as soon as it went on sale. I'm so glad i played it
It got impossibly difficult because the combat system was awful and animations for healing/changing weapons were so slow. The save system helped in no way either. Having to constantly go back 10 mins every time you died (which was a ridiculous amount)
I thought was a pretty good game and would gladly buy the sequel. It takes a while to learn to play.
I hated it. Pre ordered it, haven't finished it. Played on the hardest difficulty, no ammo and now I'm in a section that I need more. No way to fight 3-4 enemies at once like Dead Space can. Its awful
I just finished callisto protocal , i dont even think “scholfield” had to do with anything with dead space imho 😂 ane fckin sucks 5 out of 10 callisto protocal
I didn’t have any of those loading stalls / lockup but then again I was playing on PS5
Callisto Protocol: Don't bother, play the Dead Space games instead. Grand Theft Auto Definitive Edition: Don't bother, play the original games instead. Saints Row: Don't bother, play the original Saints Row games instead. Gotham Knights: Don't bother, play the Batman Arkham games instead. I'm seeing a pattern here.
Wait, didn't this game have an absolutely massive budget too? Something like $160 million?
Something about Glenn. From what I have read he only worked on 1, not 2 or 3. He left and founded sledge hammer games in 2009. Do not give this man the credit for dead space. He just set up the first game. Callisto's story is almost a retread of dead space 1 narrative. Shady company, evil science, and a cult. Hell callisto is built on a mining colony, like where the marker is found. He's just riding the success of others who worked on the sequals to add fake hype to this game.
Well let’s just hope the Dead Space Remake pulls through. It’s looking pretty amazing so far, but it’s really unfortunate because I wanted this game to be awesome and that Dead Space style of game to come back.
This is what happens when major corporations get their grubby, lowest-common-denominator placating hands on great creators. They water the shit down until its 90 percent diarrhea
I guarantee He saw other reviews, and played the game as follows: makes awful upgrade selections, never even bothers to learn the combat and dodge system, zero strategy-just runs into every open area full of enemies then complains when he gets swarmed. And btw, looking down instead of paying attention then getting attacked, is not a "jumpscare". Bad take, the game is awesome. Patch on the 15th fixed basically everything. Easy 9/10
I think the game rocks. It isn't an easy game on normal mode. Couple hits from Biophage and your human ass is dying in graphical fashion.
Gameplay to me feels like your character is a thug/boxer who happens to find stun baton and a few guns to use. If you don't adapt to how the baddies fight u, your gonna get dead.
Best graphics, lighting, and soundtrack that I have ever heard thus far.
The shimmeying and crawling made me feel like I was crawling through the inner guts of black iron prison. To me it looks good, doesn't bore me, I'm rocking headset for that badasssss soundtrack the entire time.
Reminds me of dead space 1 but with a different feel and approach.
Freaking Josh Duhamel looks real in this game, can't believe how far videogames have come.
Sequel plz 🙏
Both Dead Space and Callisto Protocol are third-person games, and it is my opinion that, if you really want to make a horror game "scary" …then it needs to be in first-person.
It is for this reason alone that I finished around 30% of Dead Space and just couldn't go any further. And third-person is the reason why I won't even bother with Callisto Protocol.
At the very least, the developers could and should have added first-person as an option, and I really feel that it was a missed opportunity that neither studio did. I am a first-person perspective gamer and I absolutely despise third-person gaming.
Wrong Matty. It IS a god-awful experience. At least on PC. It's unforgivable in 2022. Especially the way they shamelessly promoted this turkey as a successor to the great Dead Space. There is no comparison at all. How dare they ride Dead Space's coat tales to sell this garbage. Firstly, who the hell wants to spend a whole game beating enemies with a big stick – over and over and over ad nauseum? If I had known that in advance I never would have bought it. But that is not even it's cardinal sin. The most damning flaw is the performance. The framerate. On PC it's laggy, it stutters, the motion is jerky, not smooth. That is always a gamekiller for me. A game should run smoothly at all times. It is fundamental and should be the first thing they get right before all other considerations. I couldn't delete this garbage from my system fast enough. Anyone who actually played it all the way through I have to assume is a masochist.
The combat gets a bit boring, but I really liked the game. Loved the locals, visuals, acting, seeing what would happen next etc. The combat wasn't awful, but it wasn't great with 3 or more bad guys. The overall plot and story were just a bit too safe for me. Felt like DS1 with some changes here and there. IDK, I would love to see another game. I will say I thought I would get freaked out more but I jumped once and was never actually nervous to continue. I really haven't had that "oh shit I need to take a break this is too much" feeling since Visage on the PC. I think with how easy the combat is once you realize it doesn't matter which way you doge as long as you go opposite in the next attack it kind of makes you feel like an unstoppable badass (like the ending cutscene) and you dont want the player to feel that way if you are also trying to scare them and make this horror game Glen claimed he was doing.
Sigh. Dead space is not survival horror. It’s horror action adventure. There is no fixed camera there is no accounts of multiple back tracking. There is no limited ammo. Enemies drop ammo and health and come in waves. Reviewers just call anything spooky “survival horror”. Tormented souls? Survival horror. Resident evil 1-3? Survival horror. Dead space? Action adventure horror. Outlast? Non combat horror 1st person.
just finished this on the ps5. not a great game but not a bad game. 5/10. visuals are good but the combat especially dodging is awful
The game is good love it
I liked the game since I am a fan of horror games, it does have its problems with the gameplay and the variety of locations. I would have liked them to include a map, with locations that were secrets to explore and find more rewards or information about the virus. I understand that I liked it because even though the creators (some of them worked on the Dead Spaces series) never bought the game as if it were a successor to Dead Spaces or because I was going to do exactly the same thing or feel the same (even though you have a lot similar) I bought it to have a new experiences. I think they have criticized the game a lot, because they wanted it to be a Dead Space successor. I will always thiks that Dead space (especially 1 and 2) They are unique in their own ways and maybe in the future whe have a successor to thos Games , but to be honest it is goin to be Hard to beat those games. Just my Opinion.
I wish people would just review the damn game instead of talking about Dead Space. Yes okay it's very similar. But the game was 14 years ago. There's young people who just got into gaming who never heard of Dead Space.
I’m glad I watched this i was skeptical about buying this and after seeing this I definitely will not.
game is absolutely horrible. i paid $90 for a digital copy and deeply regret it. combat is broken if fighting more than 1 enemy. it’s also extremely easy and has no challenge. you will crawl thru about 100 vents and crevices. story sucks but did have potential. many more negatives that i wont list
I think PC version is fine in direct x 11 mode. Dr disrespect streamed it and that is how he got a smooth experience better than console.
I think I'm lucky in the respect that I didn't play dead space before collisto protocol so I didn't have such high hopes like other people did
They did have budget otherwise they wouldn’t hire the Hollywood actor for the main character anyway you got good logic and I agree with all you said. They seam rushed and put minimum effort in this game they just looked for quick back and used DS hype to profit on it!
ya it has its problems but I think your acting like its supposed to be exactly and as good as dead space and oh yeah get good with the dodging lol
I'm about 4 hours in on this and monotony is the only word I can come up with
I can’t WAIT to play this game when it goes on sale!
Does anyone Remember when this game was supposed to be tied to pubg 😂
bring on the DLC, i wanna see the protagonist get the hell off black iron.
re 4 back ground music tho
Play it for yourself people. I am loving the hell out of this game. Even if I never replay it I still don't feel like I wasted my money. The atmosphere and the combat is top notch in my book. It feels like an experience more than a game. I really don't understand the criticism.
I think the marketing has been confusing too. The only ad I get for the game makes it seem like a space conspiracy drama. Barely any horror teased.
Please do not buy this game. You will have wished you would have bought a hammer and smashed your own head in.
The weapons suck
The game gets better as it goes on, but it’s certainly a bit of an empty shell. Hollow with minimal depth. Beautiful but heavily flawed. I think my biggest complaints are the lack of enemy variety, lack of any sort of puzzles at all, one of the most linear experiences I’ve had in years and just a an overall disappointment given how damn good it looks.
When DeadSpace remake launches…. Yeah this game is going to stamped into a puddle by Isaac.
It doesn’t even have new game +.
What trash. 👎🏿🗑
Been playing this on the xbox x and it seriously feels like its strictly meant for pc
Hate to say it but Callisto Protocol would have been a better game if EA had published it. Krafton are clearly a bunch of penny pinchers.
Really short game, it’s not terrible. I’m playin the ps5 and Graphics are great. Wait for a sale because $70 is to way too much for such a short game.
