Oh no what will we ever do for multiplay games
Nice work. Great video.
Mark Twain once wrote that "..work is that which we are obliged to do. Play is that which we choose to do. " A wise statement. With that on the paper I understand and sympathize with you, up to a point. After all, you are still working to make this avocation function and, given your track record so far, still seem to be enjoying parts of it. Maybe even most. Lastly however, we are glad to have you around and I look forward to many more years of your content. Good vid
Just some honest advice. Invest in a really nice ergonomic chair. I have a (refurbed) Steelcase V2 that I bought after I had lower back surgery a few years ago after a ruptured disk. I work from home now and full time. It's the ONLY thing that has truly made the pain from that injury drop down multiple levels and that includes the surgery, meds, pt, a new bed, etc.. $600 seems like a lot until you realize it's something you use about 60 hours a week and should easily last you 10 years. And hopefully it will prevent an injury from occurring in the first place because it doesn't take much when it comes to repetitive motions 😔
As for the multiplayer thing. Thinking about spending 600+ hours trying to get the plat on D2 Resurrected only to realize one of the trophies is multiplayer and I will probably not get it even if I got all the others is pretty scary 😱
If only you could show a cynical side of your personality,…
Thanks for your sacrifice
sound like a dream job for someone who does the same thing but get paid zero
Thanks for taking one for the team dude. I’ll pour one out for you 🥃
While you are obviously joking, there is this one guy called DSP and this is almost word for word what he says seriously!
I love your insights and deeper reviews than most, keep on running 😀
So what do you do with the MP achievements, is that an immediate "nope" or do you still try them?
I think multiplayer only archievements should be prohibited by geneve convention
Turning a hobby into a full-time job might not be the best idea – I wouldn't like to turn my escapism and relaxation into an obligation. I'd have to find new hobbies to escape from my old hobbies.
You poor thing, i once hurt my thumb reviewing a title, my therapist is still trying to unravel the deep hidden pain this has cost me 😮
I love your intro music so much
Love your channel and this video made me laugh. Keep up the great work!
The horror… The absolute, mind numbing horror…
I remember being sent a review copy of Alone in the Dark for the Wii. That was a very painful experience.
Don't forget fighting sleep for hours on end, because a game is just too dang good, until you realise it's already 4am & hell, no sleep is just as good as 2hrs of sleep, before you have to get up & go to work anyway!
Sounds like a worthwhile trade off to me! 😉
Truly an unsung hero! We thank you for your sacrifice!
I wasn't expecting to cry today. I can't believe all you go through for us. I'll never take this content for granted again!
TRIGGER WARNING
That was really spooky.
Fight on young warrior. Fight on
7 years, massive congratulations. Glad to be along for the ride now 🙂
You left out what I think is the most horrifying thing of all, getting to the editing room only to discover you don't have footage for a specific talking point!! 👻
Thank you for enduring these terrors so we don't have to shudder
👍
AKA realizing your hobby became work, and work can never be a hobby.
You should really take care of your lower back, though! 15 to 20 minutes of stretching every few hours should do the trick. Rather than thinking about the time you'll lose doing it, focus on how you'll be more productive if you can do your job without pain. Work smart, not hard, king!
Happy YT anniversary!
Obvious sarcasm, but for real, making the jump to full time game reviewing while praying to the youtube algoritm gods sounds pretty scary to me.
Trully yours, Howard P. Mortimer.
It speaks volumes about the quality of your content that I can see a 4 minute video about video game reviewing per se and be actively excited to watch it. Thanks for all that you do Mortym – sending positive vibes for your sore back rn!!
I really enjoyed this sarcastic tone. I want more of it 😂
You forgot the Carpal Tunnel and the Repetitive Strain Injury! Damn, life threatening shit, no two ways about it. 😉
Congratulations on everything.
Thank you for your great and honest reviews.
Well, I hope you still like games and enjoy to play them most of the time. It is so true, that making your hobby a job changes the perspective. Especially going for 100% can make playing a chore in my eyes. I appreciate your work. Happy Halloween! 🎃
Commentary had some major Max Payne vibes to it, love it.
It really is both a dream and a nightmare to play videogames as your job. Yes, you get to play more, but it sucks the fun out of it in a "quantity over quality" way because you don't have the time to enjoy one game as much as you would otherwise have wanted to due to deadlines (and expectations) which determine whether or not you'll be able to pay the bills at the end of the month.
There's always this quote from Jirard (The Completionist) that comes to mind, it was something like: "Slowly working away at achievements might be fun, but it really becomes tiresome if you're completing a game every week like I do. That's why I don't play a lot of JRPGs, which have hundreds of hours of content, on the channel."
