Another mistake people make is that they try to give Kratos a balanced build, but that's only viable on lower difficulties. If you're gonna play on anything higher than medium difficulty, you're gonna have to spend all of your resources on 1 or 2 things and just spam the shit out of them because the perk system is pretty wonky. GOW isn't like a lot of hack and slash games where you have total freedom to assign ability points as you see fit. Everything about this game is a puzzle.
Luck isn't only for hacksilver and xp. You can use it to trigger effects that say luck chance to do etc.
i platinumed it and yeah these tips are good, but one more tip: if you see an Odin's eye (aka. green raven) always throw your axe at it because if you collect enough you'll be rewarded with some good stuff.

Ive never played the first game so im kinda playing blind and trying to figure things out as i go
In the first god of war I took my time and finished all side quests before continuing the main story, but the story in Ragnarok made me lose composure and focus on getting to the next cutscene like a fiend

The first thing i did in both games was switch the x and o controls. I came from playing bloodborne to this and i was getting absolutely destroyed trying it the default way. It made all the difference switching that. I dunno why they thought that was a good layout

3rd tip: you only need some kind of build, doesn’t need to be elemental, could be focussed on realm shift, runic attacks, or synergistic item and enchantment builds.

Am i the only one tht thinks the upgrade menu interface is a step back compared to gow 4.
I just got done playing gow4 and started 5 and it looks like an older version instead of newer. Its dark and a bit of a cluster fck honestly.

I’ve always tried keeping crouch or dodge as R3 on a controller just so u won’t have to pick up your thumb at all while moving your point of view for a dodge
I do recommend doing the side stuff on give me god of war as enemies Wil quickly surpass your lvl
with that sprint button on automatic I finally don't get a hole in my thumb anymore
For those who don’t know yet maybe you haven’t played in a while but it also has a new game plus now in that every nonir chest has a upgrade dew in it so you get a permanent stat upgrade for each on you open
A cool tip as well poison actually temporarily lowers the combat level of the enemy so if you have a skill that applies poison that would a handy thing to use
One that I totally missed in my first playthrough was with the spear using and holding r2 will thrust the spear into an enemy infusing it with a status effect based on what you using it on grim will apply poison to it elf’s apply light the asgardian enemies apply bifrost to it and so dragaur fire helwakers ice
if you rushed the main story of this without any of the side stuff during the first playthrough then you playing the game wrong
I’d add that after finishing Svartlheim you should go to Nifleheim before Alfheim. There you can both practice your moves/combos as well as leveling the tiers of all available skills to allow mod slots which you should have the xp to put on your favorite 2-3 combos.

One mistake I keep seeing people make is calling the eighth game the fifth and the ninth game the sixth completely ignoring three of the best god of war games. To clarify I don't count betrayal for obvious reasons lol

I think im stuffed now this game is ridiculous is a complete run around in circles and back tracking stupid. Im in Lake of nine now and didnt get the spear dont know if I can go back to forging destiny quest now either grrrr

The I started it like 3 days ago and finally got a PS5 the one that comes with God of war Ragnarok and there's just so much stuff but I don't want to miss anything or upgrade something not enough for too much so my first playthrough I'm playing on the easiest hopefully it's time I beated I could start a new game plus and play it on a harder difficulty cuz I liked to completely complete everything lol I just feel so far behind lmfao 🤣
