There are a quite a few things people here aren't mentioning, so I'd love to leave them here:
While yes this looks gorgeous thanks in part to Unreal Engine, you also used the lighting to make it appear natural in the environment, which you modeled yourself from scratch. All the environments hit the mark when it comes to presentation, and a few inarguably exceed the original (Castletown especially, those alleys look like they should have their own game.) I can tell you struggled with some like Goron City, but in that instance, you can also tell that you tried to improve upon the original by scaling it up, so it has it's own feel.
And things like that, combined with the other small touches here and there, start to give the entire project it's own style. Gradually I can get a feel for how you design things, rather than how Ocarina of Time would look in Unreal Engine. It's great, and you should lean into it, without trying to stray too far or feeling like you NEED to improve everything.
The characters look insanely good. Yes Link looks expressive and that's perfect, but the modeling of characters like the Cuckoo Lady and every person in town brings it all to life and in some ways is more impressive than the environments. And the animations are faithful to the original as well, while still looking clean. Things like the carpenter running in Kakariko are a joy to see, but so is the Carpenter Boss emoting. It's great.
Seeing all the area layout changes, character modeling, animations, physics, ui, and all those little touches, what shines more than the project itself is just how much time and effort has gone into this. The original Ocarina of Time had a dev team of over 200 people, which meant they had enough hands to divide up this work; but you've had to do all the small things yourself. Even if this is where you stop, which i doubt it will be, you've done an amazing job, and I'm glad it exists.
Small things worth pointing out:
.The birds in hyrule field are one of the best changes here, period.
.The statues in Goron city are a creative way of adding to the area
.Link's eyes blinking through his fps camera is funny, intended or not
.Death Mountain looks far too big from Hyrule Field
.The Rupees look drunk spinning at an angle like that
.Goron City looks like Stone Fan Tunnel and I love it
.The tv in Link's "apartment" would be a bit jarring in an actual release lol
.Link's fingers moving with his Ocarina is such a simple and obvious change but it works
.Subtly giving Link a personality through cutscenes is a fantastic idea and I like it
.Throwing the skull kid LOL
Everything you added into the Lost Woods is perfect, and I love it. Amazing job man
this is by far the most INSANE thing i have EVER seen! I grew up with Ocarina of Time since it was my first Zelda game ever and seeing a fan putting this much time work dedication and love into making a proper remake I salute you sir! i remember watching your bottom of the well stream and being genuinely terrified considering besides torches Navi was your ONLY light source making me remember the warning from that one skeleton in the royal family's tomb! Thank you so much for all the hard work you have done on this this is truly incredible!
Gorgeous, visually and musically!
This is a masterpiece well done my friend 😄 keep up the good work you’re a legend 😁
If they don't hire him now then I don't know when
is it completed?
Oh my God I seriously hope they do this. It's so beautifu. Same as breath of the wild and tears of the kingdom. It looks soo realistic I love it. And maybe they can do majorias mask
Is this playable? i mean, is the full version of the game, including ganom castle or just the 'kid' part. Thx and sorry for my english
Young Link looks a little too lolli. Not a criticism, I don’t think anyone has a right to criticize this magnificent work.
Nintendo: We will never made any Ocarina of Time HD remake for you!
Fans: Okay we will do it by ourself then!
Myself: Let's hope that Nintendo don't gonna found it and taking down this amazing fan made remake project.
Someone should do majoras mask. Seems like it would be easier as it’s less dungeons and smaller over all. However I could see the npcs and the schedules being difficult I guess. And the whole time system. This looks crazy cool though.
27:57 that part is terrorific, like honestly, that scares me a lot
I've only watched through to the beginning of Hyrule field so far, but I have to say… I am literally feeling emotional watching this. This game, on the N64 WAS my childhood. It's difficult to say how deep a part of my childhood this was, and to see it brought to life in such an UNBELEAVABLE way. You have literally made something so incredible and deep. The music, the aesthetics, the feel of that DeadHand level, with the church bells in the music, and the dark shadows, you just don't see that in games made today. It has a feel of epicness and depth to it. Thank you SO SO much for this, to all of you who helped make this come to be. I would so urge you to finish this and then bring it to Nintendo to offer selling it to them for the cost of what they would have paid a production team to create a modern day game, then let them release it on the newest Nintendo console for the world to enjoy. Either way, thank you for this gift you have given to everyone! It is TRULY a masterpiece!
Those treasure chests are brighter than my future 😂
EAI NINTENDO, APRENDE COM O CARA POHA
My god.
How can i use my N64 controller with USB on the game. can bind the controller. is there some software i can download to make it work
Just saw a blog post about this. I love some of the touches like Link getting really dirty when he performs combat rolls in the dirt (which could be more temporary than waiting until he takes a swim). I also love that, while it's not quite there yet, the camera work is trying to model that of the original game.
The lighting and effects, well, there's a reason why you picked Unreal, isn't it?
Is the forest Sanctuary in the game yet?
You can do better jumps
Your grass looks so much better now! OMG! you are a legend
I love how swimming effectively gives Link a bath! XD
So, what all was added in the past 3 years?
how is 1 person able to create something so cool and Nintendo fail so hard to make the same?……
También esta link adulto?
This fills me with life! So this is not the full game correct? just showing whats been done so far?
Underwater, at the waterfall. Definite boner appeared and he wouldn't go away
