UPDATE: June 23rd, 2022 – Don't get the Enhanced Edition yet, it's very messy.
Not only do Blade Runner and Alien share a universe, Soldier(1998) is in there as well.
…just saying, the more you know about that future, the more fascinated you become.
The Coyotes never left, but did you wonder why you hear them but never see them?
By golly, good times ! 5 CD-ROMs if I remember correctly. Holy shit, didn't know about the random elements. Was sure I was a replicant at the end.
I just finished Blade Runner game today…
the ending…
I wasn't expecting such an ending…
So thoughts on the Blade Runner Enhanced Edition?
The whole "the composer recreated the Blade Runner soundtrack by ear" makes absolutely no sense. If they couldn't get the rights to the music, and thus didn't have access to the film score, they wouldn't have been able to essentially plagiarize the main theme for the video game. My guess is they DID have the rights and DID have the score but the composer had to recreate it using different instruments.
As a fan of both the original book version (Do Androids Dream Of Electrical Sherps?) and both movies, when he said "He has a dog. A real dog." Made me squeeze for some reason. Nice video on a nice game.
p.s. Pets can cure sadness. Probably.
This game and dark earth coming out around the same time was amazing!
18:28 / 19:30
I'm confused that they weren't able to get rights to the music from the movie but were able to secure the right to arrange the music. That's pretty rare, and it's normally only done if you wanted to shift a preexisting piece of music into a completely different timbre.
God I hate LA
Who ever made the sprint and shoot button the same button is a dick
12:20 it sounds like hes genuinely losing it when he laughs
So Outcast when?
Thanks for the incredible subtitles, Val.
Still waiting on that Outcast video.
lesson learned: white men code better than diverse teams 2023 😂
The westwood dune game was my first rts, where you had to put in a question from the manual so you dont have a pirated copy lol
I miss Westwood too
I remember trying to play this when I was 10 and getting stuck about 20 minutes in. Totally forgot it existed, might be worth picking up again 20 years later 🙂
Both movies are great, don't like the rat face guy I can't remember the name of in the second movie, but it is probably the only movie ever I like with him as the protagonist, because it is just a good movie. Also the crazy cult ahole is in that movie, still good movie, like requiem from a dream is.
who's the artist that created the art used in the thumbnail?
I remember when I was much younger, I was in a thrift store with my family and spotted this game for sale. I had no idea what Blade Runner was, and I was rarely allowed to play/own computer games at the time. I remember almost begging Mom to buy it for me, but that was a hard no, so I eventually forgot about it.
Seeing this review unlocked that memory, and I honestly feel like this would have been a game I played into the night & obsessed over. I'm glad I get to play it these days, and on much better hardware.
Thanks for the trip down memory lane 🙂
This game gave me a lot of creepy nightmares for years because of how still and calm some moments can be when you move to a new location only to have a cop or mutant or rat leap out and attack you.
Can't believe he just snuck the Pet Shop Boys line in there like no one would notice.
Yeah that funny voice Harrison Ford did…is a Jerry Lewis impression. He did it intentionally.
I loved this game and finished every ending. I used to spend hours on the balcony listening to the soundtrack.
Glad to see this classic get some love. Thanks for sharing.
Gra pierwsza klasa, do dzisiaj mam orginalne CDs od wesji PC a to jusz okolo 25 lat mineło, szaleństwo jak leci czas. 90te lata dla gamers najlepsze byli, zawsze mi braknie ich.
This is the game that got me into PC gaming. Got it when I was 16, it blew my mind.
