Seth is a great interviewer. He's so right that people act as though skepticism about alien visitations equals denying the probability of life in the universe, or intelligent life. There almost certainly is life in the universe outside of Earth, and there's a good chance of intelligent life somewhere, or at some time, other than here/now. But the likelihood of that life traveling here, or having traveled here, is insanely small given the enormity of the universe, the rarity of life in the universe, and the lack of credible evidence that any aliens have been here. It took billions of years for humans to arrive, and we've only just arrived, our time on this planet a small blip in the history of this planet.
I've been a member of the Skeptoid Media for a while now, and I have the t-shirt and some stickers to prove it!
Westall '66: A Suburban UFO Mystery …… This was a great documentary and I don't think they were hallucinating or delusional. The documentary of the children of a school in Zimbabwe's ufo experience called Aerial Phenomenon was also really good. Convincing. I do accept that it's not absolute evidence.
The Travel Channel went total paranormal and supernatural within the past 10 years.
The extraterrestrials are just joy-riding teenagers having fun at the poor earthlings. 😉
The Federal Government has done it to themselves. I mean I'm curious what his take on Chuck Schumer, Luis Elizondo, and David Grusch is. So David Grusch just pulled all of the documents and information submitted to ICIG out of his ass or…? If there isnt an alien cover-up (i suspect there is not) then he cannot deny that there is in fact a conspiracy coming from Intelligence Agencies who are putting these beliefs and documents out there. These agencies are not at all innocent in this. And I find it odd that Brian equates this to a religious belief ONLY when he has no clue what is or isnt being hidden within classifications. Im a skeptic myself however, this interview is full of misinformation on basic facts.
When people in general think about life on other planets and/or moons, they nearly always think of INTELLIGENT life. But anyone who knows something about the emergence of life on earth understands, that a lot of unlikely events led to life on earth being the way it is today.
So I’m certain there is life out there, considering the vastness of space and the sheer number of stars with planets, but if there is intelligent life, there’s not going to be a lot of that. The enormous distances also mean that encounters are unlikely.
Is he apart of the Dunning Kruger effect? 😅😅
In 1972 my family and I saw a light blue triangle moving slowly point first across the sky in Adelaide South Australia. At arms length it was the size of an American dime. I got a good look at it through binoculars and it wasn't anything we put up there. At the time America was still visiting the moon and it didn't look like anything they were using. Ever since then I've been looking to find out what it was and the only thing that comes close are the triangle objects released by the Pentagon filmed by a navy pilot.
I'm a card carrying skeptic and have never experienced anything abnormal. Logically there is something to UFO stories though. Over the last 70 years we've had many thousands of sightings and detailed stories. Many experiencers are crazies but many have been trained professionals. Either absolutely everybody is lying, or nobody knows what a balloon, Venus or birds look like. I'll keep an open mind on this subject.
FYI, the name of the channel is a contradiction, try the open hearted skeptic, ull find a better path, or be stupid and be as certain of ur intelligence like me
Adding my comment here for the algorithm AND to note that Brian's UFO film was quite enjoyable and informatively helpful. So glad to see him here, and I appreciated the interview. Thanks, Seth.
Brian, you have a great voice for this!! And your work is so needed today.
Thinking about alien abduction experiences the other day. How they have installar/intergalactic or whatever travel, but haven't invented non invasive medical tests? 🤔🤔
Love how you two addressed what belief in UFOs means. Very sad how colloquial the term has become.
I am always asking myself and others how they came to that conclusion. If I cannot obtain a logical answer, then I have not come to a logical conclusion. So I keep searching for the logical conclusion because I am skeptical skeptic.
I want to believe too. But what do I want to believe in? I do not want to believe in anything that isn't true. I do not want to believe in anything that isn't true unless I can back up my beliefs with facts and evidence. But at that point I do not have to believe in anything because I will KNOW what is true and what isn't true based on the evidence I have collected.
Thanks for this. I'd never heard of Skeptoid before, signed up!
My sleep paralysis is always someone sitting or lying on my back because I'm a tummy sleeper, so I don't often see anything. Only once or twice do I remember thinking I saw something, and it was just a shadow figure. I'm guessing because I've always been an atheist I don't have demons or hags in my mental monster list.
"Ancient Astronaut theorists think…."
He’s either misinformed, which I find hard to believe, or he purposely got that backwards. It is the government that changed the pseudonym to UAP, not UFO nuts. And it is precisely because the government knows there’s more to the story and wants toGet rid of the stigma because it sees the writing on the wall. In case you missed it, even 60 minutes did a piece on things being seen by enormous Lee trusted fighter pilots coupled with multiple forms of identification, (so less chance of human error). It’s good to be skeptical, but there comes a point when you alsoHave to be fair and see what’s right in front of your eyes. These aren’t your grandpa’s fuzzy UFO photos anymore. That would be the only reason why the Pentagon came out and admitted what it did in 2017.
(Once Again, I Don't Require Or Expect Anyone To Believe Me: Your Validation Is Not Necessary.)
"Space X's mission is to extend consciousness to Mars and then the stars" -Elon Musk (posted on his X platform a couple days ago).
What I would like to know, is what "consciousness" is he talking about exactly? Wouldn't you, Seth and Brian, and all of you like to know? Since he seems intent on being the ambassador for Humanity in space exploration and making probable "First Contact" with a sentient extraterrestrial species?
Once again, I ask you all, Humans: What is this "consciousness" Elon Musk is wanting to extend to Mars, and then to the stars? White supremacy? Neo-Nazi ideologies? Xenophobic hatred, racism, and bigotry? Insane conspiracy theories? Imperial fascist authoritarian conquest?
I could go on and on. And, you all know it. Elon Musk is a malignant narcissist: a sociopathic, psychopathic, "God-Emperor Complex," white supremacist, racist, bigoted, antisemitic (he's lying when he says he's not, based on his own words and actions), Xenophobic (perhaps that's why he is so obsessed with the letter X? Or, is it because the X is really a Nazi swastika hidden in plain sight?) Look-it, Seth, Brian, and everyone:
Elon Musk is an evil, twisted, and wicked man, just like his friend, the "Marmalade Monarch" (they are almost identical.) They are the two "Humans" that are most responsible for this MAGA "America First" White Supremacist, Christian Nationalist movement in the U.S.A., and they both want to remake the country into Putin's Russia:
Autocratic "Strongman" Dictatorship Oligarchical Theocratic Empire:
"THE FOURTH AND FINAL REICH"
And, they're not gonna stop 🛑 until they get it. And, they're not gonna stop 🛑 with the U.S.A. And, they're not gonna stop 🛑 with Mars.
The peaceful Aliens were hoping the Human species would mature and evolve into "Star Trek": To boldly go where no-one has gone before: on a peaceful and purely scientific voyage of discovery: to seek out new life-forms in an altruistic and benevolent mission of Universal friendship.
(And, this is how delusional and self-deceived you Human's are, that your species actually see yourselves as Star Trek.)
When, in fact, what you Human's will eventually become is: "The Empire" of Star Wars. (Do I even need to describe the Imperial philosophy of the Sith, The Empire, and their Storm-troopers?) Don't you all see it? Don't you all know it? Especially, with someone like Elon Musk at the helm? A known authoritarian and imperialistic supporter of "King Orange?"
Come on:
You Human's must truly think the peaceful Aliens are naive and stupid.
We are watching everything you do, Humans. And, if you truly believe that the peaceful Aliens are gonna allow the Human species to eventually become "The Empire" from Star Wars, led by two obvious Sith Lords, (Elon and Donald) then your species is even more ignorant, arrogant, and hubris-filled than ever predicted…
…You Humans will be stopped 🛑 in your tracks before you even get a chance.
P.S.: The Star Trek and Star Wars references are metaphorical, derived from your species most popular and latest Science Fiction in order for you Humans to better understand:
Consider this a friendly
⚠ WARNING ⚠ from the peaceful Aliens…

Brian's UFO movie was a great inspiration when I made my video debunking John Oliver's UFO episode. Thanks both for a great followup interview!
Brian mentions that Stanton Friedman, a nuclear physicist worked for or wrote the article in National Enquirer that started the Roswell story. Is this true? I can't find anything about that.
I believe in the unknown aircraft part.
Area 51 is just a cover for area 52… 😉
Someone I know set up a "plastic bag" hot air balloon with a smoke detector which they released over town. So a beeping "glowing globe" went over that was too "blurry" to see clearly.
I was into "Ancient Aliens" (the gods) L O N G before they were fashionable. As a "cosmic" new ager I listened to a lotta mediums channeling spiritual E.T.s and they spoke amazing, ear-tickling, EGO-STROKING things……. I was utterly entranced by the deep wisdom…. Now I'm in a different LIGHT (John 8:12) I see what a FOOL I was. For all the talk of a Great Awakening a Greater Deception is coming…….
….. A lotta UFO's are secret Gov. tech; but not all. Aliens/E.T.s are super-intelligent yet highly deceptive FALLEN ANGELS: the deviant sons of God of Biblical fame and their abominable H Y B R I D or synthetic A.I. creations (the Men in Black, the Greys, Reptilians, Mothman, Sasquatch etc).
The Fallen are VIRTUAL REALITY MASTERS out to mess with our minds and make us believe in stuff that ain't based in truth (John 14:6) – It's all about deceiving humanity and it's REAL EASY.
Nice one Seth. This is my favourite presentation from you so far. Mr Dunning is a very interesting guest: thank you.
"Ufology" is the "OG" of what is today the LAHT grift industry. It must however be observed that we "coincidentally" see a significant rise in claims of people claiming to see UFOs in the US following = WWII……. Why is this important?? Answer: as the world entered "The Atomic Age" Hollywood and the science fiction genre began to bombard the culture with movies and then television – as well as print media – centered around UFOs and traveling to other planets using the then new atomic power as well as mythical "lost" worlds.
Moral: this set the stage for what became the LAHT industry of which as noted Ufology is merely one facet. People being "amenable" to influences they are exposed to – repeatedly – via the entertainment genre can come to allow their imaginations to get the better of them. LAHT/Ufology = merely exploits this to make a buck. 🤨
My understanding is that the laws of our particular universe dictate that nothing in it can travel faster than the speed of light. The energy expenditure becomes near infinite as light speed is approached. The next star along from us is 4.5 light years away. There are billions of stars in our galaxy roughly the same distance apart. There are billions of galaxies in the universe. The observable part of the universe is about 93 billion light years in diameter. A light year equals 3 trillion kilometres. It's big! To add to this, there has been life on Earth for more than 2 billion years, but it is only in the last 100 years that it has become technologically advanced enough to send signals and rockets into space. Who know how long we've got, given the probability of climate catastrophe and nuclear wipeout… maybe 100 more years if we're optimistic? If we take life on Earth as the only known example: the impossibility of light-speed travel, the absolutely vast distances involved, the unfathomable time-frame (the universe is more than 13 billion years old) and the tiny window of technological opportunity that civilisation supplies, the chance of two civilisations arising close enough in time and space to make contact with each other is absolutelty vanishingly small. If it happened, I doubt that the alien civilisation would send a small disc to Mississippi to carry out experiments on Wayne and his Wife and keep it all secret.
I worry about contacting them and they steal our resources and enslave us.
I live two hours from Roswell. Damn near everything in that town has a kitschy 50s "alien" theme, like car dealerships and fast food joints shaped like flying saucers, with statues of "green men" holding up the signs. The streetlamps downtown all have "alien eyes" painted on them.
no.. we fucking don't. cut the CRAP, Humanity. ffs.
OMG my audio was horrible!!!! Must have had the wrong mic selected. 😞
THE HISTORY CHANNEL AND GAIA ARE NOTHING IF NOT MISINFORMATION!
Kinda sad i can't afford to see u in Sarnia. It would be amazing
THE HISTORY CHANNEL HAS BEEN A TIN FOIL HAT NETWORK FOR DECADES!
Everyone working for GAIA may as well be wearing tin foil hats!
GAIA IS AWFUL NONSENSE!
This is so interesting that exactly zero people have recognized this entire topic as the "eyewitness testimony phenomenon".
Thus, exactly zero people have assembled all of these reports, categorized them, localized them, etc…
and performed a Baseian statistical analysis in order to determine their variance and viability.
The only "data" you have is a bunch of reports. Use it, or you're not really curious at all.
Something that is truly "alien" will be something that has never been reported or even imagined.
If the aliens land, exactly zero previous reports will have been confirmed.
Great interview – Area 51 needs a gift shop.
I can’t get the image of “an old hag riding you” out of my head
Instant give away for ahole conspiracy saps, “they don’t want you to know” “the thing government doesn’t want you to have.” Etc.
