The back sticker looks like Shrek's head😅
Wow, you installed it perfectly!😮
Wish I saw this video before I bought the black leather version. The back grip not being covered is so dumb. Luckily they leave a chunk of leather from the screen area and I am planning to cut it out into shape and fit it onto the back of the grip. I suggest you do the same if u plan to buy it. Also once you stick sharp corners, do not peel it off! the backing will rip out from the leather making it dangle
7:38 What REAL “additional protection” does this (or these type of) skins provide?
How are you playing Zelda on steam
dbrand does have some of the most interesting skins and cases but jesus christ the prices
I have saw those skin made in China with same quality and is less than 10$. Is crazy how they can sell a piece of skin for 50$ .
Video is sponsored by Hello Kitty hair blower.
Shit I just ordered the leather skin…
Sorry but it looks so grose… after 10 days its already dirty on the edges. And it will continue to collect hand dirt and fat…
I wonder how hard it would be to take that extra piece of leather you got where the screen would have been and cut it out to make those empty spots covered
Just a heads up, ALL of Dbrand's skins (also easy skins and extreme skins) have that raised lip, it's not just the leather, it's just worse on the leather, but is still very noticeable on ALL others…
i picked up a Travel Kit with Digital Camo skin. Am pleased with my buy.
This is an amazing review! I just got my steam deck, and I did think that this skin looked fantastic-I was looking into buying one soon. The points that you’ve made here have definitely left me with some insights that I’m very thankful to have the early advantage on! Thanks! I’d love to see a review on the vinyl skins, too. I’d be interested in hearing what you’d have to say, even if I’ve already bought one in the future.
Could you use the screen piece to cut out a piece for the back of the handles?
I bought mine used
I could have bought the 256 for a bit less
But id rather not look myself in the eyeballs in the dead off night 👀
Love it btw 🤙
They don't advertise that the screen protector will keep the matte finish, they imply that it will adhere to the texturesd surface.
Over priced and they do take forever to reply to emails.
the edge is super easy to get rid of, i've been using dbrand's leather skins for a long time and you're meant to burnish the sides by rubbing the microfiber cloth across them for a really long time. bit annoying, but the end result feels great. still a bit of a lip, but way WAY better because burnishing them curves the edges and makes them way less noticable.
Thanks I was close to buying. I'm with you on the flaws. I would have been pissed, especially for the parts they didn't cover
Just installed this skin on my Steam Deck. My leather wasn't that thick, I had no problem seeing the Valve logo through the back. I also did the front first so I wouldn't have the side be off when I attached the back leather. I used a good bit of alcohol on a paper towel also and wiped down all the plastic several times. I think the may be why your skin didn't adhere very well on the top. Who knows, that is just my experience. I like the look and feel, it also has that nice leather smell.
God I wish it was perfect, because this skin is just so dam sexy.
I can whole heartedly recommend their textured M3 skins like Swarm or Camo!
Having only seen the thumbnail I can indeed confirm the steam deck is at least worth $50
Should have used the balm before sticking it on silly
The leather one is the one I picked up. I find it peels up at the rounded corners, where i can't smooth out the wrinkles because it's a rounded corner.
honestly dbrand is way too overpriced. etsy has good ones for like 30ish bucks
I got a cheaper skin and have pokey points all around the edges and corners rn so I’m here looking for quality for money you spend on this shit. Appreciate your input – I have a grip case for mine since the stock grips hurt my hands for long periods of play – so the points don’t bother me a whole lot right now but the price point of the device itself.. it deserves better
I'm so glad I watched this. My ocd would make me ruin the skin if it's not perfect. So too much money for the chance I'd be taking. Positive video but not for me. Thanks for the info.
Have you tried using the back grip rubber covers by playvital? I avoided getting them because they too are too thick and produce a lip, but I think that if you use both the skin and the grips… it might work out
Put some cream on before you put the skin on
Those aren't "imperfections in the leather." That's leather. That's what dead cow skin looks like when the grain isn't just stamped on.
Steam deck to brown poop deck in 20 minutes. Sorry just my opinion. They should have made it more of one piece to also wrap the grips. Overpriced and it seems like you're getting an unfinished product.
Awesome! I was planning in getting one but I'm more interested in one of the Jsaux kits. It would be amazing if you could review them or the Hub kit ❤ cool video!
That leather is orange. Is it real? It looks like a diagnostic tablet for Gordon's HEV suit. Also as a leatherworker there is no way without wetting and molding the skin would you ever be able to get a round dished curve that's as tight as the part that is left uncovered. At. Least not without a lot of water and fingers like vice grips
I honestly never got the hype or purpose of buying skins for anything controllers, systems, and such. Just a pain every time. Not to mention the struggle to possibly take it off if you wanted something new or to sell it. No thank you, I would rather have the basic look. Only way I see changing its color or style is if they create literal plastic covers to replace. So the body itself will look different.
lol at putting a shiny screen protector on your etched glass…
I had a regular dbrand skin and i wasn't a fan, took it off basically the same day. it starting to peel off in certain areas and the installation is a pain in the ass
For the price it's a no but if you had a case you could just install the front and grips and not even have to worry about the edges
