As a born buddhist what i know is at the end of world ,world is destroyed by humans themselves.The life expectancy of humans will be significantly lower. Humans will have huge hunger which everyone see others as a deer(food) and start to eat each other. This will lead to total annilation of life of earth( this is called murugasan warsha). But there wil bel very small surviveing population remaining (who lived good according to dharma) in the world. But after that world will be recreated again. End of this world means beginning of a new planet according to lord buddha.
As long as the teachings of the Buddha still exist the world will not end lol. As long as the triple jewels still exist which is, Buddha is the perfectly enlightened one, Dharma is the Buddha's teachings, and Sangha are the Buddhist Priest. The sun is not a burning fuel. The sun is only 3000 miles away from us. The sun is infinite light that will always shine its light for endless cycle of life. Where ever the sun move, it takes its light along with it. Hence day and night. This Earth has been here millions of eons, and an eon is a very long time possibly trillions of years old times a million. The sun is of divine properties, the sun may be perfectly enlightened being itself. A perfectly enlightened being is eternal. And we all will eventually become perfectly enlightened, eventually as long as it is what you seek. The Buddha is eternal and so are we, all are. May all beings be enlightened. And may all beings be free from suffering.
Shakyamuni Buddha, the perfectly enlightened being, who was a human being 2500 years ago achieve perfect enlightenment as a human being. So we all can achieve what the Buddha have achieved. Which is beyond godhood.

I think everyone will be a Buddha and, as the Samsara will be empty, no illuded will exist, therefore no illusion. No illusion, therefore no Samsara. Then the world will end. But it wont be sad. Then Mahavairochana, the primordial Buddha, will be complete, as all beings are manifestations and parts of Him will be with Him. Then the empty world will be recreated, and everything will happen again. After all, buddhism is all about cicles. You can say it sounds simillar to the Christian End of Days, but maybe they are conected. Many catholic priests, when in Japan, studied Mahavairochana, and discovered He was very simillar to God. So, basically, Mahavairochana is the buddhist God, after all he is the enbodyment of the Dharma. And comparing the Triple Jewel, the Father is Dharma, the Son is Buddha and the Holy Spirit is Sangha. And also, many buddhists (like me) believe that Jesus was a Bodhisattva. You can say Mahavairochana is the God of Spinoza. Present in life.

This i not quit true. Buddha actually said that the earth will be surrounded by 14 different Star before it explodes. And also this wont happen in just a few hundred thousand years. Buddha also mentioned that there will be 996 more buddhas coming down to earth to help sentient beings before the universe is destroyed.
