What details from the trailer have you excited for the movie? Did you spot something we missed? Let us know!
Start Your Adventure or Dive Deeper with D&D Beyond: https://dndbeyond.link/yt_DnD_MovieTrailer
What about the black dragon warriors! Wearing the dragon helmets from Advanced Dungeons and Dragons.
That really is the cutest red dragon I would be killed by.
No cleric?!?! SMH.
It looks like a Harper Scout badge to me.
I hope this is not another Marvel/Disney like movie…
The “fun“ scenes are into that vibe.
I just hope Im wrong
That black dragon looks like it could have flown straight out of it's page in the monster manual! I'm so excited!
Wish we had Eldritch Blast haha
Isn't the Rogue symbol a domino mask and a downward pointing dagger ?
Druids can't shape change to an Owl Bear (or any other unnatural animal). Only regular animals!
i'm most excited to see how homoerotic chris pine makes his bard…
I like these two but if you're breaking down the trailer, you should really get people who know the game and the world better. Y'all missed or misidentified a bunch of stuff, and as a fan of D&D and D&D Beyond, I was disappointed. Also, a bit too heavy on the "check it out on our site" business in lieu of actual content.
I didn't know I was watching the D&D trailer and then just kept thinking "huh, that looks like in d&d" until they said "owlbear". And in that moment my head exploded…
This movie feels like my table and I am excited…and Im usually really negative about newer movies!
the little fat dragon is probably my favorite monster in the trailer, i just wanna scritch his little fat chin
Nah, each spectacle will be bigger than the last in true Jar Jar Abrams style and it'll be loaded with 'Easter Eggs' for fans – Another forgettable, Box ticking exercise which will try to carry the lack of story or meaning with Celebs and special effects…Shame a serious D&D Adventure is long over due…
Do you know what city is in the opening o0 ? its NOT Waterdeep nor Neverwinter since the : 1) Shore line is wrong for either city , 2) Neihter has a Colosseum , 3) I can NOT find ANY City Map that even comes close to the city.
YES, someone noticed the Harpers logo
I think the thing that I found out that was cool, from an interview with either the producer or director, is that Rogue's End prison was created due to this film. I guess according to the interview they went to WotC and asked if there was a prison in that area of Faerun, they said no, but there could be, thus they created Rogue's End.
this vid has definite infomercial vibes to it 😛
It's a rental. The city looked like a Disney theme park instead of a medieval city. There was not one piece of trash on the ground same with the 'dungeon'. Everything was so clean and unrealistic. Owl Bears are mad…Druids can't shape shift into one. The party was outside in the cold, with no cold weather gear! Its a marvel movie
when the movie comes out i am going to make a campaign based of the movie
The red dragon is so CHONKY! Such a lorge boi. I'm so excited. I also loved that the black dragon didn't just look like a recolored red dragon (most games and movies don't bother to differentiate the dragon types), and it actually spit ACID! So damn cool.
Woman has the most shrill voice ever. 0/10 unwatchable
No.. You lost your bet… that is NOT Waterdeep, that is Neverwinter. You can see the RIVER that bisects the city in another shot and two out of the three bridges that cross it. Also, the castle there is castle Never, which is close to the docks. Waterdeep harbor is MUCH larger than the harbor shown here.
Sure we would be expecting, and welcoming, all sorts of rule of cool departures from DnD RAW. Adaptations are adaptations, nothing ever remains 100% faithful in detail to source material, including game rules. I want movies told in the Forgotten Realms featuring all the races, classes, places, heroes, villains and monsters from our imaginations. I don't particularly care if a wizard casts 2 spells in one round of combat, if the result is awesome action.
The Underdark is there, so if Drizzt doesn't put in an appearance…
Themberchaud is a chunky boy
I'm feeling like it was firebolt that hit the shield spell not fireball…but hey what do I know.
👍🏻
It seems the Dungeons&Dragons official channel put up a clip. Seems the city might not be Waterdeep but Neverwinter. Though I think both of them are in the movie.
what's the sort of gold looking dragon in about the middle of the trailer?
Kiri in the background sitting on a crafting bench…
That city isn't Waterdeep. Neither Castle Waterdeep nor Piergeiron's Palace are that prominent—or even visible—from the sea behind Mount Waterdeep. Not to mention that the most defining landmark, Mount Waterdeep, is completely absent in the shot.
Rather, the city depicted is Neverwinter.
It's a coastal city, has a seaward skyline roughly like that, with Castle Never in prominent pride of place, and with significant mountains (including, don't forget, an historically important volcano, where red dragons canonically l'air) in the background.
Also, Crawford sorta tipped the gaff with how much he talked about Neverwinter unsolicited in the video interview.
Also also, you didn't talk about the Red Wizards at all…
17:57 Fire bolt
Idk if anyone else uses CC like me but the CC translated tiefling to d-flang, and now I can not help myself. It will forever be d-flang now.
I'm I the only one that thinks it's the horn of Orcus?
They should've made Michelle's character a half orc, given her some small tusks
Good one of my greatest friends which was one of my teachers she has a daughter which Ashley is one of my old teachers she loves Dungeons and dragons because her friend play is it
Suzin Tam appeared to be in the trailer also
I believe I saw Red wizards of Thay… and maybe the Zulkir of Necromancy himself… Szass Tam?
what's the dragon in the city shot in the trailer?
I think the city is Luskan. I might be wrong but there's enough so suggest it. It doesn't look quite big enough for Waterdeep for one thing; there's a distinct lack of Mount Waterdeep overlooking the city, but there are mountains in the distance which would fit Luskan's location better;; then there's that huge tower, which I think could be the tower of the wizards who rule Luskan in the background; and of course there's the amount of snow on the ground, somewhat more appropriate for the more northerly city. And one of the Realms more notorious havens of pirates and criminals might be a better base for a gang of thieves. It is of course possible that there's more than one city or town involved.
Ocean's Eleven meets Guardians of the Galaxy meets D&D-fantasy. Should be something I like.
