The boring video of the clean up was more interesting.
Those are called "Star Cluster" flares, military grade attached to an eight ft. Para shoot . We used them all the time on maneuvers'. You can fire them from a hand held tube or they can be fired by a mortar or released from a plane. With the shoot they come down slowly. When I was stationed in Mainz Gr. we set off a half dozen from the 11 th floor of a high rise at midnight on News Years eve. Made quite a stir.
