If you aren't aware, I'm currently taking a mental health break from YouTube and Streaming (sorry)
But I tried my best to get out this quick video giving my current thoughts on the animated italian movie because y'all know I NEEDED to talk about it

I fucking hate the cinematic drums I just gotta say. I hear them in literally every single trailer all the time. They enrage me.
Love watching these videos from ppl who understand animation! Illumination seems to crank out cash grabs with mediocre plots and rinse repeat! Also the only touch of illumination we see is in Mario’s face. Much like Pixar humans have a certain look so does illumination u know

It's interesting how many people are quickly able to pick up that Chris Pratt is using the blur filter on Zoom and how many people don't know what the Hell is up with the background in Chris's segment.
Also, I hate that now I know about the "cinematic drum thing" because now I'm going to notice it every time I watch a movie trailer…

tbh, illumination has really good animation and has hit out a few good movies. So it's no surprise with the money from nintendo they can create something increadible. also i think miyamoto would not like the fart jokes
The "cinematic drums" bit with the silly clip art guy is actually killing me. It really is in every trailer and from now on I'm gonna see that guy in my head whenever it happens in a movie trailer

I personally think Chris Pratt's voice is fine as it is. I understand the desire to have Charles Martinet play as Mario. But come on guys, you can't honestly believe the voice Charles does it meant to be heard constantly in a 2 hour movie. Charles' version is perfect for a mascot that speaks in short phrases and sentences. That's because Mario is a cartoony caricature of an Italian. For a movie, you gotta have an actor that can have a serious believable tone or else it just doesn't fit. I love Charles Martinet and I'm glad he's getting a cameo in the movie, but Chris is not that bad. I can definitely hear the subtle Brooklyn accent he's going for.

It looks pretty decent but the writer and directors only other notable credit is the Teen titans Go movie. Also I really hope we actually get some Mario soundtrack adaptions like the Airship or something

i'd say chris pratt's voice isnt bad, but his normal voice comes out to much, like ryan renolds as an example
I'm glad you mentioned Toad's voice because they totally nailed it: close to the original but modified like when he's talking in a normal voice so you can tolerate it for a full movie

When you're voice acting you never want to sound like you're trying to do a voice, and, well, chris pratt doesn't sound like he's trying to do a voice
I'll spoil the plot then:
Browser wants to collect all stars from all kingdoms to somehow become their ruler. And Mario says "what is this place?" at one point, ergo he doesn't even know the Mushroom Kingdom, which leads me to believe that he was sucked into the video game world through a portal from the real world. Which means Mario is actually a real person and we'll probably see him as Chris Pratt at the end, just like Ryan Reynolds at the end of Detective Pikachu. He is then supposed to go home again, but then decides to stay in the Mushroom Kingdom and protect it.
So you thought the Mario movie was going to be somebody's deviant art post?

I was skipping through the video to see the reaction to the trailer itself and I stopped at 3:00 and couldn’t stop laughing
I’m very mixed about Chris Pratt Mario. On one hand, I get the direction. Mario isn’t a gruff Italian in the games like he was in the Super Show, he’s got a much more cheery personality. On the other hand, Pratt really doesn’t do anything to make his voice sound even slightly like Martinet.
It's a genuine shame James Gandolfini couldn't play Mario
Jackblack is great but Chris Pratt voice is actually terrible

I just don't like the animation, but that's because I don't like illumination style of animation (also script will probably be only jokes and lack heart), but other than that I am very excited!
