Motorola has turned to its once-upon-a-time-owner Google to build AI-driven experiences for the buyers of its 2024 foldables. The Gemini app can be accessed straight from the phone’s cover display.
This year even the vanilla Motorola Razr 50 has a usable cover display – it’s not as big as the Ultra, but at 3.6”, it is still one of the biggest cover displays around. The Motorola Razr 50 Ultra, with its 4” outer display that goes edge to edge, has very little competition for the title of “biggest cover display”. In the US these phones are known as the razr 2024 and razr+ 2024.
As you probably know, some AI models are more powerful than others even in the same family. To give Razr buyers the best experience out of the gate, Motorola is bundling 3 free months of Google One AI Premium with the phones. This gives users access to the Gemini Advanced model.
That and 2TB of cloud storage for other Google services like Gmail, Docs and Google Photos. That last one gets special treatment with support for the cover display – you can view, delete, share and favorite photos and videos (both from local storage and in the cloud). The usual Google Photos features are available too (Magic Editor, Magic Eraser, Photo Unblur and so on). Google is working on an Ask Photos feature that will turn Gemini into a smart search engine for your photo collection.
There are a few more features. Photomoji can turn one of your photos into an emoji or a sticker to use in instant messaging apps. The Moto Magic Canvas allows you to create images from scratch, just by describing them with text prompts. You can make your own wallpapers too using Style Sync – it’s called that because you give it a photo of your outfit or your surroundings and it will generate a matching wallpaper.
It’s not all about images, Magic Compose can help you craft a message in a particular style – from chill to formal, from excited to concise. Note that Magic Compose is only available on the Razr 50 Ultra/razr+ 2024.
