Dude is harping on everything like it's not a fictious take on fiction 😂😂😂😂😂😂
Very much feels like this guy hasn't actually played the games, he just seems to be reacting to a few cutscenes. He's missing a lot of context and the general story arc
Dude the reason Odin is not disguised as Odin with a longer beard is so that you won't recognize it. Why are you even reading into it ? It's supposed to be a plot twist of course they gonna have to make him transform and not just make his beard longer. There is no interpretation or nothing hahahah
When he makes reference to bringing a goat back to life it's a Easter egg reference when Thor tells Kratos I'm not done with you yet and revives him. G.O.A.T (greatest of all time) for those that don't know.
What was the point of all this? What dark corner of the library did you find this dry boring individual?
there is so much difference in the end coz kratos is shown to be changing the prophecy coz he is not from the norse realms
Do they not tell this guy what happens in the game?
Do they just give them random scenes to watch? Wouldn't it be better for the expert to know and watch the story full of the game and then know why some events and proficies do and dont happen.
So, the Ragnarok myth found in the Eddas is the false prophecy Odin is working off of most of the story, the actual truth is there is no fate, the Norns outright tell you as much, so the whole plot of the game revolves around breaking fate, so obviously some things will be completely different from the Eddas.
Conjugation's hard.
You wasting dudes time with this game. It is not a game on Norse mythology. It’s a fictional game that depicts not Rae mythology in its own way as a game should. He seems abit snobby 😂😂
the main character also isnt in the other sources
yall in the comments are suddenly norse mythology experts
Did he the play the game?
“This depiction is different from the ones from thousands of years ago that are extremely difficult to translate” 😑
He’s got a lot to say about the game being unfaithful to the source material, but he never once mentioned what Kratos’ role was in the existing literature.
"go to sleep from here" a magical command to make his essence leave his body.
It might not be apparent, but the large being at Ragnarok is surtr. And this deviates from the myth largely because the game is about trying to change the prophecy of Ragnarok.
Play the game
Are they pronouncing Heimdall wrong in the game? (it's pronounced the same as this guy says it in most other dubs, but the "Hei" part is pronounced "Hai" in english for some reason)
all the stuff that was different was due to kratos changing fate.
I'd love for this guy to actually play the game instead of watching some cutscenes. It would give him much more insight about the writing decisions made, and how that plays into the interpretation of the source material of norse mythology. For instance: why everything plays out different as a part of the "defy fate" plot of the game and stuff, or to what degree Mimir stories are certain, and Santa Monica's take on Odin's thirst for knowledge and stuff.
Misses the point entirely – exactly what people fear academics are
…and this is why AC Valhalla did the whole Norse mythology and event of Ragnarok 100x better! Like Marvel, GoW is all about mindless flash and action more than actual historical depiction, and I’ll admit that can be fun…but don’t get it twisted that it is superior to anything else 🤨
This guy is probably great at parties 🤣😂
Somebody got tell my man that’s all of this made up. This not historically accurate cuz …..the protagonist got a spear that lives in a ring. Let’s chill out. I’d have lunch with Ragnarok.
oathen loves his jewelry
He was saying go to sleep from this moment on but he refers to odin as an "it" based on the use of sofna when they should have use sofnaðu or sofnar
The entire game is underwhelming
The whole game is about changing your fate by choosing to better yourself so half the events in the ending of this game are intentionally changed from prophecy. He keeps saying “idk where they’re getting this from” and it’s funny cuz that was the whole point.
Reactions from people who didn't play the game or understand it's content…
The intention was to not follow the raganarok prophecy and avoid what was foretold to happen.
I'm pretty sure the game director says they take aspects of the mythological stories and put a spin on them or change a few things to seem more fitting for the game, he also did say it's not ment to be an accurate representation of the myths they derive from
These expert videos are always so frustrating. It's not supposed completely true to the source material. Gamespot's gun expert is the only guy that I've found to do this type of content well.
WE DONT CARE! NONE OF IT IS REAL! It's a MYTH!!!! Who tf cares if the MYTH is rewritten?
If you care about this… get a life.
Odin isn't the boss of the gods in the original lore? So, what does "all-father" mean? He isn't their king?
“Norse Myth Expert”???? is this a joke video
Why does my guys shirt look like it hasn't rendered yet
This guy is kind of a tool. The game took creative liberties which is why Odin killed Thor. If he followed the story within the game there is a point to Odin killing him. It’s not like these events actually happened.
I'd have been more interested to hear his thoughts on how he thinks Norse Mythology would exist without Loki as a character
It’s shocking to me how many people are triggered by an experts analysts of things. The dude is an expert, you’re just Joe schmoes on the internet lol. Chill
This is the worst “ expert “ you’ve ever had on! The fact he says you can’t expect him to remember like 500 names is absurd! Suppose to be an expert my arse
Interesting to learn how it compares to the original text, but this isnt a retelling of that story so his comments about this not being accurate, that not being from the text is just pointless and pedantic.
Just wanna point out that a major plot point is to change fate and change the outcome of Ragnarok
Jesus fkn christ. This guy is annoying.
Imagine being this pretentious about a video game very loosely based on a mythology. It's better that it's different because then the story isn't just outright predictable
Of course it's different, that's the whole point – averting/changing prophecy/Destiny.
Maybe if IGN had given context to the professor.
Why wasn't this expert part of the creative team for this game?!?! I'd rather listen to him educate on the original Norse lore than acknowledge GoW Ragnarok story
It isn't supposed to be fully accurate, because it is supposed to fit GOW.
