Manual spin attack with the stick gets him every time for me now. I've tried the other methods minus using deku nuts.

Or just get the biggoron’s sword

stun with deku nuts and use giants knife/biggoron sword

Fought him yesterday for the first time, idk what the fuck I did, but eventually I stopped attacking and he wouldn’t attack me. So I just stared at him for like 5 seconds, z-targeted, and slashed him lol.

This fight is one of the few in any game where in combat your sword attacks double as blocks and parries seamlessly. It feels more like a movie sword fight to fight Dark Link normally. 😛

Or you start off extremely defensive, then back away and suddenly thrust.. will get them every single time. Or at least.. it did in my case.

Ah, yes, I remember my struggle with him a long time ago… in the end I thought explosion are always the answer… so I dropped a bomb, walked backwards and he followed me right on top of the bomb. Art is an explosion, after all. ^^

There are a few different ways I found that work. Spin attacks are quite effective but they take time to charge up and he moves quick so it's not the best way to do it. You can also swipe with your sword while facing away from him and for some reason that still hits him. The best ways though are Din's Fire and the Biggoron Sword. Din's Fire can't be blocked by his shield and he rarely ever moves out of its effective range and the Biggoron Sword has a much wider and longer range than the Master Sword. You can also just use the good old tried and true method of random swipes and hoping something lands if you can't pull off anything else I mentioned above. I've done it before. Whatever you use though don't Z target him because it locks you directly onto him and using a sword while Z targeting is actually less effective than free handing it most of the time. Z targeting is better for projectiles (bombs, bow, boomerang, hookshot, etc)
