Here’s a sweet looking hard drive you don’t see every day. Amazon is currently offering the Seagate Starfield Special Edition Game Hub 8TB External Gaming Hard Drive for only $149.99. This drive was released last year at a launch price of $239.99. This hard drive is compatible with your Xbox Series X console, but it functions perfectly well as a very fancy looking storage drive for your PC.

The Starfield Special Edition is essentially a Seagate Firecuda Gaming Hub that’s been decked out in Starfield livery. The chassis itself is definitely an eyecatcher, with a two-tone white and red colorway, Starfield decals, and a RGB LED light strip that can be programmable via PC software. I would recommend a smaller, faster SSD for your primary or boot drive, but unless you have very deep pockets, you’ll definitely want to get a traditional hard drive with lots of capacity to store the files you don’t access very often. Housed inside is a 7200RPM desktop hard drive that works great as local backup storage. Sequential read/write speeds are about 250MB/s, which is solid performance for a traditional platter drive connected via USB. The gaming “hub” lives up to its name with USB Type-C and Type-A ports in the front so you can dasiy chain additional peripherals like your mouse, keyboard, or headset.
The lowest price we saw for this drive this year was previously $189.99, so this is a pretty nice price drop ahead of Amazon Prime Day. If you’re looking for backup storage for your games but you want something that looks nicer than a black box, then this is a deal worth considering.
