this a statement from Breakthrough Listen… In December 2020, it was reported that in April and May 2019, a narrowband signal at 982.002 MHz was intercepted that showed shifts in its frequency consistent with the movement of a planet. No modulation was detected.[39] The signal appears to have originated from the direction of Proxima Centauri. It has been given the name Breakthrough Listen Candidate 1 (BLC1). As of December 2020, the researchers were still working to rule out terrestrial interference, which they considered the most likely cause. One researcher called it "on par" with the Wow! signal.
You're right, it's a head-scratcher why we haven't heard back from potential alien civilizations yet. Here are some reasons why they might not have responded despite our radio signals reaching them:
The vastness of space: Even though our signals have traveled 50-100 light years, that's a tiny fraction of the Milky Way galaxy, which itself is just one of billions in the observable universe. The odds of our signal hitting a star system with an advanced civilization listening at the right time are slim.
Time delays: Even if an alien civilization receives our message, responding could take centuries. It would take another radio signal traveling at light speed hundreds or thousands of years to reach us.
Looking in the wrong place: Our radio broadcasts are like throwing a message in a cosmic ocean. We might be aiming our signals in the wrong direction or at the wrong frequency range for them to be detected.
Alien technology beyond radio: Perhaps advanced civilizations have moved beyond radio waves for communication. We might simply not be able to pick up their signals with our current technology.

Im confused about the point that the offset from the star means it's orbiting. Even if it was the nearest star, an angle of 12 degrees would mean the transmission source was 0,9 light years away from the star,…some orbit!? What am I missing?

Why is it that eye witnesses may get you hanged, but do not count in proving Alien life or other Alien civilizations ?
We have literally thousands of documented cases. And all are brushed away.
Techno signatures are great. We got a ton of those from UAP. The military sit on the data as publicizing it would reveal their newest radar technology. Other data we got never reach the public eyes either.
The few that persist to claim there are Aliens live in danger. Many died suddenly or simply vanished without trace.
IMO they may have reached the far side of the Moon. How? Well that i leave to you.

How closely or not does the BLC1 signal correspond to the so called "WOW" signal. Is it close or not at all? If it is close or even dead on, I think that would be enormous in that we probably discovered this back in 1977.

How far away are they?
They say it was from the earth… probably from the telescope own devices… So They solved it.. It was no extraterrestrial signal… I know bummer… but … i dont understand why then it looked like it was from ProximaC… I mean they did all the testing and even doppler effect was there so … i just dont understand why they come to the conclusion that it was from earth… its confusing!

prof you have always looked for a rational explanation for uap/ufo sightings you are never one to say tic tac amazing speeds so it must be non human intelligence so does this mean you beleive this signal is sent from an intelligent source and not a glitch in the atmosphere
Hate to burst your bubble…but the reason ETs don’t respond to messages put out to space from earth…is because they cannot receive it from archaic technology. It's funny that they called it the Horizon Project, because there's an earlier US proposal called Project Horizon. Project Horizon was general plans to put a base on the moon, with people living and operating it from on the moon itself.

mate, there are still major problems with BLC1. if it comes from Proxima Centauri (the closest star system to us), and it has a technological civilization, what are the odds that we've found NHI in the nearest proximity to us yet still cant see anything anywhere, not a sign for thousands and millions of LYs? Besides, it is more likely the planets in Proxima Centauri goldilocks zone are all tidally locked.
