I like Glenny boi I hope he gets to make TCP 2
I appreciate their professional courtesy, but you know they have questions they cannot ask. I understand that, but you’re not getting a totally honest dialogue. Plus, I’m sure Glen didn’t want his game to be equated with Punch-Out. 😂
Watch angry joes review for a more honest review. His review is definitely spot on and brutally honest.
first kinda funny vid of 2023! beat the game yesterday! great way to ring in the new year! 🙂
Game was fuckn great once it got it's wheels rolling into the larger picture, id say when you get blown out into the wild then I couldn't put it down. My 2 complaints really is that the blind enemies were almost pointless. I would just crouch walk around 3 bunched up and stab one about .5 meters away and the others still wander around and then the telekinetic glove thing was super OP, especially if there were spikes around….which there were many haha
Also surprised they didn't bring up Josh Duhamel and how it was to work with him.
The whole discussion from KF's end same fake. Stop doing spoiler casts with devs. Do content with them but not spoiler casts.
I don't think the game was perfect, but the fun zone in this game is definitely pretty well done, and I do genuinely think the final boss is immersive despite how infuriating it can be. I think further iteration could make these systems pretty fucking dope. Also less zombies of course
This kinda missed the mark. I beat the game and I really enjoyed it, but the way you guys spoke to Glenn was like a 10/10 game. Hardly any criticism at all, basically just praise the entire time. Also, it's a spoilercast, yet you barely spoke about the story
I was one of those 20-25 hours people Glen lol
Love these spoilercasts. This game is a looker, from the lighting to the impressive graphics, the death animations and the gore. The audio really enhanced the suspense. My only complaints were the weapon changing and healing processes being SO slow during combat that it made some combat situations unbearable. Also I would love to see more of the robots. Sure they don't look scary, but they felt scary.
This all spoilercast is about kissing Glen's ass over and over without questioning any of the flaws of the game.
The game even came out half broken in most platforms, dude!
I want to say to Glen and the team at striking distance studios that I love this game so much. I hope all of you at striking distance know how much so many of us appreciate all of the hard work and sacrifices you made in order to make this game a reality. I am on my 3rd play through, the gameplay, story, sound design, horror, visuals and combat are all absolutely exceptional. The combat is especially fun and brutal when one takes the time to learn the systems. (like pausing before hits instead of simply spamming the melee attack, as well as utilizing the GRP, dismemberment, ect.) This is easily the best game I have played in years and it is of the highest quality. I've never been more immersed in a game. I really needed this. Thank you.
Glens a cool dude and you can tell he loves games. Hope for a sequel and that its expanded and improved upon. Enjoyed the game.
This is punishingly awkward
Edit…
If you can’t figure out the 2 headed boss.. its literally dodge shoot.. dodge shoot.. dodge shoot.. easy..
I love that Greg keeps calling Sam Witwer's character just Sam Witwer because I do the same thing. He was in two pieces of media that were big during my teenage years: The Force Unleashed and Smallville, so he is just ingrained in my brain as this guy who has always looked and sounded the same.
I hope someday I get the change to meet Glen and thank him for his work on one of my favorite games of all time with Dead Space. I really enjoyed my time with this despite some of its shortcomings. Hopefully they get to do a sequel and lean more into the horror side since they've solidified the action part of the game.
I played this game in the most optimal conditions to be scared (lights off, headphones on) and it still barely did anything for me. I found every single thing they did in this game to be super predictable. It feels like a PS3 / 360 game in terms of its design.
People takes reviews too seriously. What if they changed their score based on the fact that Glen explained them some of his decisions or even that sponsors deal. Greg has been quite honest about it at the beginning of their review , so i don’t see the problem. Plus , its all opinions. Take some , leave some. Their conversations ain’t no different from mine when i talk about a game with my friends. Anyway, I’ve always trust/respect Greg’s opinions about a game no matter if i agree or not.
I wasn't as crazy about Callisto as the rest of the guys, but I love listening to Glen talk about making games. I think he could lead making a killer metroidvania in the sci-fi/horror genre and honestly really hope his team gets the chance to do a sequel. There's some really great ideas in Callisto that I want to see expanded on. Great conversation as always.
Finished it a little while ago. I liked it, but it's not ever scary and the jump scares were never effective. It was just intense when fighting the bosses and mini-bosses for a while as you assume you're nearly finished fighting them yet nearly out of ammo or health. The game took me 10.5 hours to beat, Dead Space is an hour or so longer. I liked the two main characters well enough, but there is not a lot to them, and the story is extremely unoriginal. The combat was fun and engaging. I don't think the game's setting is as good as Ishimura or The Sprawl, it was closer to what Dead Space 3 brought with Tau Volantis, but I liked it fine.
There is more to nitpick, and I believe if my expectations weren't tempered I'd be more disappointed, but I found it to be a solid game. Honestly, it was an early Christmas gift, but if I bought it, I think I'd be more put off by the ending. If this game had a new game plus, I would probably still be playing it right now, but since it doesn't I probably won't play it until it's available. I'm interested in what a sequel can bring and hope we see one. Although it wasn't scary, like Dead Space, it didn't have to be. I just wanted to play a cool sci-fi game and I got that for the most part.
More nitpicks. As usual in games today, I turn off QTEs altogether if I can, and since you can do that in this, it makes those sequences of those long necks that attach onto you wholly pointless as it just turns into a small cutscene several times throughout the game as you can't fail it. It's a time waster. I wish death animations were not a huge focus or touted because they're not special. They can be often hilarious, but after the first or second time seeing them, they became annoying, and there weren't that many because there weren't many variations of enemies and I never died from the environment. There are more things to nitpick, but I don't want to be too negative because I did enjoy it, but also I don't feel like ranting more.
I really hope they do get a chance to make a sequel. As a content creator/visionary director, I can understand the passion Glen has and the passion his team put into the game. Hopefully, they can refine what people have been having issues with in this game. Personally, I really really like the game
This is KFG Vol. 2, Episode 157 (Episode 409 overall)
Just pause and unpause the game once you start an audio recording and it will play in the background 🙂
yo why you not ask glen abaut riot mode and dlc story wtf ?? or next calisto protocol 2
Loved the interview but I cracked up a bit when Greg said that its like a souls game "but its not because I feel like if I have a horse in the race just dodge here it would have been a different story"
you do know that is why people love souls games right? no one is playing going "damn i love that this is impossible/ frustrating and just the games fault!" you get the sense of accomplishment and feel like if you just hadn't missed that one dodge roll you would have had them! Just thought it was funny to call out why callisto is different because of the exact reason the souls genre is beloved, no hate just means they aren't his cup of tea lol
52:30 They really need to put the player up against the security bots more so in a sequel or DLC. The robots were super threatening even more so than a lot of the creatures and they were severely under utilized. The robots are kick ass and they’re totally scary even if they don’t have “blood or guts.” Use them to make more interesting combat scenarios.
Callisto Protocol was a super fun game. Yeah the game should have been delayed and could have used more time with the characters, a little more enemy variety, and the combat should have been polished more. But if you love sci-fi horror and you love games like Dead Space and or Alien Isolation, this game is a must play. The story also gets super pulpy at the end and sets it up for a interesting sequel. Not every game has to be best game ever. I understand that coming off the heels of God of War that this game will seem very mediocre considering the $70 price point. But it does what it does well and it’s obvious that covid complications hit the dev team hard. I’m more than confident that if this game gets some fat DLC and or a sequel, that the team will really start hitting their stride and give the original Dead Space games a run for their money. They just need more time to dial in the combat and they need to expand on the lore of greater space and the secret society.
The proverbial turd in the punchbowl.
Praying for that sequel & let’s bring on the map, interconnected layout huge map, different puzzles, deeper gameplay mechanics, customise armor that changes gameplay, etc…
At times it felt more like a tech demo than a so called AAA game.
Hate to say it but it's a downgrade on almost every aspect compared to Dead Space.
Glen seems like a straight douche. The verdict is get this on sale.
He's in love with the coco
I love watching Glen talk about games. He’s clearly a very passionate creator and I love it.
Lotta bad to say about this game. The melee combat is awful and it’s confusing that a decision was made to make it the focus of the gameplay. The mini boss was annoying and being thrown at you 4 times within an hour made it worse. Final boss was poorly designed. The worst part is none of it was scary, relied too heavily on jump scares that were mostly predictable. Then there’s also the little annoyances like the bad button mapping and being slow as a snail that just pile up and make it worse. Just so many things that don’t make sense why they made it like that.
Hoping the Dead Space remake is better, all this disappointing experience did was make me more excited for that
I hope these type of spoilercasts with the game director don't become a constant trend now with the channel. Its hard to get into the nitty gritty while you have the main person that made the game on the podcast. At least make another spoilercast without them.
Not every game has to be something absolutely amazing and groundbreaking. Callisto Protocol reminds of a good b movie.
The game is fun and I like that it's not crazy long. Visually fantastic.
I beat the game in about 12 hours but it was a blast can’t wait till new game plus
Is it just me or is Glen not answering the question asked half the time? Like the checkpoint question, howcome i can go to the store before a fight and i die only to reset to before i hit the store having to repurchase all my upgrades? And Glen goes on rambeling about no rules and how many times people die to an encounter… The question was about a lackluster checkpoint system and a im surprised they didnt mention the pointless save button aawell it had nothing to do with deathcounts. Another interesting thing im sorta dissappointed by is how they seem to have micromanaged every little scene and encounter without any consideration for the big picture. Like, all these small things being tweaked for specific scenarios giving an expression that the game as a whole is inconsistant and has no core philosophy holding it all together. Lets imagine Glen saying this "Here "A" makes sense, well here it looks like a "C" oh and this next part feels like a "B" right?" Zooms out and you realise they wrote ACB in a ABC system. 😮💨
