This is a poignant love story between Zhu Bajie and the Spider Demoness (the old lady in clip). They were destined never to be together, experiencing unrequited/forbidden love. Zhu Bajie, originally the Celestial Marshal Tian Peng, was a general in heaven but was banished to the mortal realm for a love transgression. Buddha tasked him with accompanying Tang Sanzang on the journey to retrieve the scriptures. The Spider Demoness, once the Moon Goddess, was punished and transformed into a spider demon for her own love transgression. Since then, she has been waiting for Zhu Bajie to find her. She waited from her youthful days until she turned gray, but their destinies were fated to keep them apart forever.
This story tells us that destiny is often fraught with helplessness and uncertainties, especially between rule and humanity. In pursuing lofty ideals, sacrifices and choices must be made; one cannot have it all. To achieve great ideals, one often must forsake personal desires and continue forward until the goal is attained.

Character models are fantastic. Truly the traditional beauty of an ancient culture.
These translation give you the general idea of what is going on but is not very close to what is actually said. It gives the impression that the speech of the characters are quite bland and to the point which it is not. The actual dialogue is very colorful, expressive and full of idioms. Chinese is one of those languages that can use a lot and I mean a lot of idioms. Literally every line in a conversation could be an idiom which will take a paragraph or two to explain in another language. As such the language allows the very advanced user to fit a lot of ideas into very short phrases.
Please dont tell me the monk is the spider mom past lover. 😂

For those who don`t know, note that all the ladies in this cutscene were Spider Zings <蜘蛛精>, spiders who gained powers through hundreds of years of cultivation, granting them abilities like transforming into humans, talking, using magic powers, etc.

There is a theory that the old lady is actually the reincarnated Chang' E (Moon Goddess) and us in first person perspective is Zhu Bajie (or at least Wu Kong that disguising as Zhu Bajie)
