This episode we take on the first iteration of Astel and wrap up the Ranni questline. This fulfills the requirements for one of the trophy endings. We also get a legendary armament and reach a new area that we'll return to later.

Ironically, if you have Latenna the Albinauric upgraded, you can cheese Astel by dodging the first laser, then summoning Latenna in and she snipes his shit from across the whole bossroom. If you just hang back by her and get lucky, Astel will teleport to the same spot over and over while she slowly, slowwwwly whittles his health down and all you have to do is dodge lasers and bonk him if he teleports in close. Only real dangerous move is the teleport/grab combo
For real though, it's super cheese and takes forever but it works if you're struggling lol
Me brings down Adula to 20%
He kills me with a one shot move while I’m at 90% HP

Spirit is summonable over by the centipede now so I'd go upgrade your mimic at the start of this video and then follow along. He basically solo'd the centipede for me.

PSA for anyone watching now do not follow the ranni questline in this video. It will lock you out of the magic scorpion talisman which is one of the best in the game for mages. Cowboy's guides are great for items but pretty dangerous when it comes to quests. Look up separate videos to truly understand the seluvis questline. There is really no reason to complete rannis questlines this early unless you absolutely want the Dark Moon Greatsword now. Cowboys recommendation is poor. There is no reason to get the dung eater ending on your first playthrough. That is what should be done on a subsequent playthrough.

for thos struggling with the snake lizard giant thing in the cloister summon latenna the albinauric on the highest point you can and she will snipe him
Killed Astel, Adula, and Blaidd first try, but got dummied by the gravity guy in the lake of rot, go figure.
This has been the most gaming fun ive had in a while playing through this. Normally ive stayed away from souls games cuz ive heard about how intimidating they can be. But with this guide it makes it so much better. I know its years later, but if u reading this cowboy, thanks.
"This fight is definitely going to be a challenge" made me laugh because of my individual experience. I've been pretty much following this walkthrough…..got stuck on the baleful shadow….tried a few times a month for about 9 months. Got this big guy (Astel) in one go. Azula took a couple tries over a few days but got him much easier too.

Astel was pretty simple but I fully upgraded Latenna the Albinauric and had her by the door for Astel and she was ripping his health down with the arrows while I was hitting his body. I am using the fully upgraded Bloodhounds fang thanks to Cowboy.

The fight with Astel was actually 10 times easier than my fight with Radahn. This was very disappointing

Old albus didn't die for me. He agroed for some reason after i talked to him. Hes still alive and kicking at me. Hes pissed
Astel is very weak to poison so throw some poison grease on your weapon for some brownie points
Got the moonlight greatsword up to a +9 and took the crucible knight out in 5 frost waves so satisfying after the nightmare that was the first crucible knight

I don’t doubt a word Cowboy says but almost every time he says “most challenging fight you’ll have in the game up to this point….”, as is tradition, I killed Estel easily in 30 seconds but always struggle with the bosses he says are easy like the rot demon at the start of this vid. Took me many goes and a rage quit to kill that thing
