you can only kill them using basic arrows

Fighting the guards to get the keys isn't what I'm stuck on. I can beat them. Is what I can't figure out now is how to find the last guy you gotta free from their jails. Thing is, I got all but one. I keep getting caught. Plus that chest, I can't get to that either.
I despise this part just because it took so many tries to defeat the guards.
when i did this part i didn't even know you could stun the guards with arrows do the guards ever get up after a shot?
