Forspoken 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥💯💯 get on with all that
I think the only thing said on here that I kinda agree with is that the water balloon weapon is lame and the random dialogue can be a bit much. Everything else I strongly disagree with.
I think Andy said he liked being in NY in the beginning and then after that is was boring. If there was a boring part, then NY is the boring part. They said it looks bad. Maybe after launch they fixed bugs, but this game looks beautiful and I am not seeing any of the issues they mentioned. They said combat is not fun, the spells are boring, and the combat is not challenging (and yet complain about an enemy attacking from behind or interrupting your spell). It was definitely fun to parkour around a battlefield stunning enemies in the process, dodging attacks, and in midair countering with a magic attack. I enjoyed the fire attack spell that allowed me to jump in the air and land on or near an enemy forcing fire spears up from the ground. I enjoyed the water spell that trapped enemies in a sphere of water and exploded when the enemies died within the sphere. I enjoyed the spell that fires a electric ball that does not do AoE but instead forces all the enemies in the area to attack each other. I did also enjoy the electric balls that exploded on contact dealing AoE damage. I obviously enjoyed each surge magic attack especially when you get them to level 3. I appreciated being able to speed up cooldowns by taking certain actions or using the spell that finds all the items in the area and refills spells based on number of items found. I also like using the support spells from one class to help me while using another class of spells. I could use one spell to boost my attack damage for another class or call on increased defense in one class and switch to another class for my attacking.
They also said some things that are not true. Switching between magic classes is easy and seamless. You can swipe the touch pad, press left or right on the D-pad, or hold L1+R1 to slow down time and select a magic class. So there are options to allow you to never stop the action or stop the action if you want more time. While it is not intuitive, you can stop some attacks if you want. For example, if you are charging a spell attack (like Greg was describing), then you can jump and press the magic parkour button and you will pause your attack while you jump while using magic parkour. This will cancel the attack if you let go of the attack button or will continue the charge if you are still holding the attack button. You can also fire the attack by letting go and immediately jump into parkour mode to evade attacks. If that is not enough, there is a late game ability that allows you to jump and temporarily disappear while holding the attack and parkour buttons.
It also seems weird to complain about having some attacks interrupted or being attacked from behind. I feel like many games have this. In fact, critics were praising FF7R for the tactical aspect of timing and choosing which level spell to cast because of the time it took to cast and spells can be interrupted by an enemy attack.
On gear, I am not sure what is to complain about here. You can upgrade your gear's magic, health, defense, and up to 4 passive skills. If you found one that works for the whole game, cool. Others might find they are struggling to keep health up and may need gear that restores health. Others might want something that allows more critical attacks. Maybe you want to knock down enemies more often. Maybe you want something to happen when you execute a precision counter. Pick the gear you like to see with the stats you want and later you can increase stats and change out passive skills as you see fit.
On dialogue, yes there are some bad dialogue moments, but they are exaggerated here. Most of the bad dialogue is the random ones and it is mostly due to saying the same thing too much. The worst dialogue I heard was when Cuff was saying something about the Break or magic and Frey responded "True dat". That is bad but that is really as bad as it gets. The complaints about cussing and Frey calling her shoes "kicks" is weird because this channel has A LOT of cussing and I am pretty sure I heard Blessing or someone Blessing was talking to call shoes "kicks".
The map complaint feels like just pilling on. The "bunch of icons" can be said about so many games including GoT, which I am sure not many people are calling a bad game.
By no means is this a bad game. I would not expect this game to be my GOTY, but that does not mean it is bad. While I wish they change the dialogue frequency (do not need to say something every time I scan) and maybe turn the water balloons to ice spears, I enjoyed the combat, traversal, and where the story goes. A good game overall.
Where's Gary W. to explain wassup with the dialogue 🤔
I really, really wanted this game to be good. I was sure it was gonna be right up until a few months ago. Now…? I'll… maybe play it if it ever comes to PS+, during a time when I have nothing else to play and a content drought in Destiny 2 or FFXIV? That's a lot of boxes to tick.
Forespoken feels like one of those games that started life as an entry in a primary franchise and when they're realized that it wasn't good they spun it off into something they could throw away. I think that this was going to be a FF game and became this that they just let the B team handle.
1-5 is far and away THE BEST review scale.
I could have forgiven almost every gameplay aspect but the dialog, particularly that damned Cuff, we're the ultimate turnoff. I have a pet-peeve about games where you have this sidekick or character that just won't STFU. Let me perform some kind of interaction if I need exposition or help. I don't need Cuff or Aloy (who talked to herself constantly in Forbidden West) or even Mimir yapping about every little thing. Mimir gets a slight pass because the rest of that game was so good and he told good stories but I'd shut him up during combat and general exploration (especially puzzles) if I could.
I must've played a different game because I just finished the main storyline and loved it.
The obnoxious cut scenes and recurring black loading screen was annoying but I really enjoyed most of the game. The character development was great, combat and terrain traversing was fluid and beautifully animated and the story was decent.
It's not for everyone for I personally enjoyed the game and can't wait to play more.
Forspoken is a good game, if i had to score it, I'd give it a 7/10 so yeah maybe not a game of the year contender but still a pretty good game.
I doubt you guys even played the game…
Terrible review.
I hated the demo so much
Omg I've missed Andy! Appreciate your perspecitve 🙂 Love the rest of the team, too. It's just he's not around as often lol.
I like Greg, but I would never do that to a box it honestly hurts. It's a $200 box I would love to have it on display when I'm making videos or streaming. My question is did you guys buy it with your own money did you use kind of funnies money or company's money or is it Sony sent you the product?. I don't know I'm weird I just take care of everything that I purchase especially things that cost over hundreds of dollars.. crazy 😔
Forspoken NOT forgotten.
17:16 great input
The lighting in the game is just abysmal, which is baffling because it has a fixed time of day! The main city looks like a Unity asset flip game or something because it's just stark white textures with no real shadows or AO.
Hifi rush!
It is an amazing game vast plays good the powers are good the dialogue Isn't incredible but it's not annoying ever it's just there.. Black and planning saying the world is barren and empty. Yet death stranding goal outstanding reviews.. Yeah I love everything about this game diving off the cliffs all the magic spells are incredible I just don't get why people hate this game… They're like complaining about the dumbest s*** in the game seriously…
I've just finished Forspoken tonight and I don't think I've ever thought you guys have been so wide of the mark with a review as you have been here. I thought Forspoken was a good game, the traversal and combat are fun as hell. The story is interesting with some great detail, world building and the ending was fairly good.
The world of Athia is incredible looking and is varied in appearance from region to region. It is lacking in the number of different things to do in the open world and its too large (I'm lucky if I visited 20% before end game content).
There are some definite issues that Luminous will have to learn from here. But to brand the game bad is simply a lie.
Forspoken is dope.
I'm loving Forspoken
Critics get into like a feeding frenzy where they just want to roast something because they hear other people roasting it. The guy on the right didn’t even play 90% of the game. The guy said he just beelined rushed through the story and didn’t level up his abilities. Yes of course the combat is going to feel bad id you’re not unlocking abilities. If you’re not doing side content you’re not going to experience the harder and more creative bosses that require you to have a build. And then thr guy in the middle praises god of war’s combat. That doesn’t have any real combo or juggle system, there’s no scoring like most third person action games. Its godfall’s combat which everybody hated without the god of war label.
I don’t understand what they mean by the story is bad. Yeah its bad compared to The Grapes of Wraith but when compared to its contemporaries its just as solid as God of War, or Horizon Zero.
Combat is amazing! Traversing is a delight. The combos and the fluidity of the different elements is addictive. I agree that the dialogue is cringe but I still am enjoying the mess out of it. One of the smoothest running PC ports.
The fade to black does suck tho!
Just your opinions. Imo the game is great. No where justified as a bad game. They already predetermined not to like it weather story or character. The combat is fun. I swear if these guys praise pentiment a pop up book sim I will dislike these ppl and not ever take them seriously.
Forspoken, to me, feels like an old movie tie-in game, like spider-man 3 or the superman game. cool ideas, and really close to a game we all want to love, but it feels half done, lifeless, and the story is ham-fisted dialog. Might be some of the greatest animation work I've ever seen though, never seen a super powered character who was that fun to watch move around, like your watching anime
The wokest of people somehow made a black female protagonist who is straight up a thief and shoplifter.
Cool
PS5 box material is trash. Forspoken really name is Forgotten !
I love Astro! I got the Plat without completing all the time trials though. Still need that one trophy for cumulative time.
Gary Whitta watching this like…
What a cesspool the media around this game has turned into. The hate-rections are real. I can’t wait till game companies stop any and all new IPs altogether, and we’re all stuck with the next repeat of Madden, the next re-release of Call of Duty, or some other, bullshit, multiple release full price cut up of a game.. (thanks for that too, Square..)
Game isnt bad at all. Play on hard mode. These reviews are damning when it doesnt really need to be. What are you comparing this to? There really isnt any comparison to be had its the same as Horizon or any Ubisoft third person game.
Most people seem put off by the protagonist being a black women from the streets of NYC. Dialogue isnt bad and these two clowns here can't be taken seriously. You havent even beat the game and your reviewing it?? How do you review movies or books?? You have to finish them.
Homegirl right here should be disgusted being next to these losers. She actually looks like Frey <3
I really want to know who the play testers were that told them hey yeah it's good send it. fire them all
I haven't beat the game yet but my personal rating, on the KF scale, was more at a 3. Having said that, I don't really disagree with anything they said. Feels like a late-gen PS3 game to me, but with a lot of interesting concepts & ideas that I wish had been better polished.
My impression after the 2-3 hrs was that it must have had a small budget and/or a small development team, and I'd really love to see what they could do if they got their shot at a sequel with AAA budget. Or better yet… Wish Sony bought the IP and gave it to Sucker Punch. Unfortunately, neither of those things are likely to happen due to poor execution on this first game.
Gary Whitta is rolling in his grave
Is NoMansSky good to great on Switch? I think that’s my next game after BOTW
This may be the harshest review I’ve heard from KF but I’m new to the family. 😂
I'm about to beat Forspoken and the game is way better than Kinda Funny had me believing. Only cringe scene was the beginning when Frey gets her powers but it's been fine to good after that. The NPC personalities are a step above Death stranding. Combat and traversal, level design is great. My biggest complaint is the underwhelming graphics. Greg complained about a late game tutorial popping up about following some light trail is because he didn't disable the Cuff Trail Compass in the accessibility menu despite knowing about the host of in-game settings. Kinda funny kinda weird review there. Guy in the middle complained about NPC fetch quests but this game literally only has one fetch quest related to the story, there aren't any other fetch quests. The NPC detour quests have nothing to do with fetching stuff, it's all about getting to know the npcs better if you're into those detour events
He just demonetised them with all that f’ing and blinding 😂
