I am here from like, a year and a half into the future
The Steam Deck side of things have gotten insanely better. Should've been this way at launch, but the fact that you can get 40 fps (save for Rhea Island) with none of these issues still present shows that Frontiers is now a really good game to have on Deck
Can u make a modding video for this
Iunno if the pc port issues is due to the lack of manpower (since Sonic Team only has 60 devs) or it’s a case of the technology the devs are using. Either way I hope Sonic Team can improve from this and deliver some good quality pc ports in the future
I've had nothing but stutters on this game in certain levels like say about 4 seconds in to the level it will literally stop and the sound will be stuttering then all of a sudden it plays again and i can continue with the mission i dont know what else to do ive tried everything suggested but nothing seems to work 😢
If I use Steam or GOG and it says any DRM other then Steam or GOG itself its an instant no buy.
From the little bit I've seen of this it looks like a souless fan made game, looks like they went and found all the assets for free on the first page of google results. Yuck.
On my gtx1080 and i7 this game freeze and crash, during the gameplay🤦♂️🤦♂️🤦♂️
Sega, what you've done with this PC port, a disaster
denuvo means i will just pirate it
why do people buy this snake oil(and with people i mean developers)
denuvo only hurts the people buying the game not the pirates who will crack it within a day as usual
denuvo is the digital equivalent of snake oil
and i really wish devs would stop using it
Does the game work offline too? (Edit: on the Steam deck?)
I have a high end PC and all I know is the game ran at a flawless 60fps for me pretty much all the way through. With some minor drops here and there. I don't think it's a good port mind you, mostly due to the lack of any good options for customization for people who don't have a high end rig or who want to push the game even further. It's basically a straight port of the PS5/Series X versions.
hey alex im pretty decently new to PC and i just purchased my very first desktop. What is that program that shows GPU temp and everything else? i would love to monitor all of that while im in my games. Sorry if its a dumb question.
The 60fps cap and pop in is the limitation of the engine, the pc port definitely needs patching and hopefully sonic team fixes a lot of the issues the pc port has. It’s a great game but what’s holding the game back is just the lack of polish. The UI and menu navigation is terrible mainly due to delay in tab navigation.
Another issue is the game looks way too blurry at 1440p, like how origins did and is obviously something wrong with optimization on that part because no game that I know of (besides sonic games) has issues with blurry image quality at 1440p and other games look debatably just as good compared to 4K (depending on how good your eyes are). My eyes arnt that good and are pretty bad so I have to have high refresh rate. 60fps does not do well for me and the lack of optimization for 1440p doesn’t help. It seems to be an ongoing issue with sonic games in recent years where they just look blurry on pc. origins on the PC version and now frontiers, forces also had the issue and still does. I don’t know what it is with Sega games but it seems that they just cannot get games to look crispy at 1440P for some reason.
It doesn’t make sense that a person Has to go and pay thousands of dollars for 4K monitor along with a graphics card in order to run that resolution just because of bad optimization from developers and it’s not really the developers fault, it’s management and bad business decisions from a big Corporation.
This is why i'm glad l chose not to buy Frontiers, cus SEGA is too dumb to add more pIayable characters, so the fans aIways gotta do it themseIves.
I got a friend who got the game on PC, and he is wondering if his GTX 1050 is the cause of his experience being subpar (with stutters, some frame rate drops, and more), or it's the Denuvo DRM attached to the game, or both.
So my question to you Alex is: does the Denuvo DRM in this game truly cause any performance issues (even if you have a strong PC)?
The thing i like about this is that exclusive fullscreen is actually exclusive fullscreen
Sonic in link's world, what a waste.
I think the pop in is because they needed the engine to work on the switch, so it's really deep in the coding. Probably not going to be a fix.
well good that i don't plan on getting it on pc then lmao
what a weird port
Just got my steam deck ui has a ton of stuttering and lag needs some work i feel reminds me of android tablet from a decade ago
I was going to by this game just 1 hr ago, thin i seen Denuvo, and looked up this vid, thanks for saving me $60 man !
There is a fix for the stuttering
Even Switch emulators with GTX 1080 is working better than Steam Deck version…
As expected PC is the supperior home console version as always 😀
In my opinion the game has been more than playable on the deck. All i did was run Proton GE 7-38 and on top of it i used the launch option DXVK_ASYNC=1 %command%. Run that and believe me it’ll be fine. I’ve already clocked 10 hours, 6 on my rig and 4 on my deck. It doesn’t feel that bad at all.
I returned the game because of the studering…thinking it's not supported on the steam deck and bought it on Xbox. Rip installing mods
I know why the Sonic team has weird controls. Japanese console devs never think about the function of new peripherals.
I remember Ninja Garden 2, moving the camera with the right stick worked more like a D-pad. Which was annoying trying to check out the world.
Is the game good? I do think open world is something can be good in sonic game and the combat seem good. But i heard mixed things about it.
Great port review! Unfortunate how the Denuvo malware keeps ruining good games.
Also I think you're the first youtuber I see that just mentions the pop-in just in passing, a number of reviewers have been freaking out about it like it's a crime against humanity, lol.
Getting real bored of overdramatic reactions, glad you keep it nuanced!
In person the game actually looks and plays like shit, even for a switch game. The menus the UI it's all plain and ugly.
