Realme today detailed the 320W charging tech it’s been teasing for the past few days. It’s called 320W SuperSonic Charge and is the world’s fastest smartphone charging technology.
Realme said this 320W SuperSonic Charge tech fully charges a smartphone’s battery in 4 minutes and 30 seconds. It fills the cell up to 26% in one minute and takes less than two minutes to charge it over 50%.
Realme’s 320W charging technology is slightly faster than Redmi’s 300W tech, which fully charged a 4,000 mAh battery in 4 minutes and 55 seconds. However, Realme didn’t reveal the cell size it tested its 320W tech with, so we’ll have to wait for that to know which one’s actually faster.
What Realme did reveal is that the 320W power adapter is called “Pocket Cannon,” and it has a power density of 3.3W/cm3 while being similar in size to Realme’s 240W charger.
Realme also said that the Power Cannon supports mainstream charging protocols, including UFCS (up to 320W), PD, and SuperVOOC. It also has two USB-C ports for simultaneous charging – 150W for Realme smartphones and 65W for compatible laptops.
Additionally, Realme introduced the “AirGap” Voltage Transformer at today’s event. It features contact-free electromagnetic conversion for smartphones to ensure high voltage remains isolated from the battery during faults like circuit breakdowns for a risk-free charging experience.
Realme says this transformer is smaller than a fingertip and reduces the voltage to 20V to protect the battery. It helps maintain “exceptional conversion efficiency and thermal management,” enabling the 320W SuperSonic Charge to achieve a power efficiency of about 98%.
In addition to the 320W SuperSonic Charge, Realme introduced a 4,420 mAh folded battery. It incorporates four cells, each less than 3mm thick, and provides a 10% increase in capacity over traditional designs. Does this mean Realme is preparing to launch a foldable device? We’ll hopefully find out soon.
Realme’s event wasn’t all about batteries and charging, though. The brand also introduced a solid-state button and anti-reflective display for smartphones.
The solid-state button has sliding functionality for seamless operation and offers intuitive tactile controls for instant zoom and quick clicks, giving the feel of a dedicated camera on the phone.
The anti-reflective display, on the other hand, is inspired by the structure of a moth’s eye and minimizes reflections by up to 80%, providing a paper-like texture for comfortable viewing in bright sunlight. It also offers clear visibility at lower brightness levels and reduces power consumption.
Additionally, Realme talked about AI Motion Picture technology and AI Gaming Super Resolution. The AI Motion Picture tech is powered by NEXT AI and turns a single image into a dynamic 25-frame video, whereas the AI Gaming Super Resolution tech uses on-device AI to deliver smooth, clear visuals. There’s also Realme Holo Audio that offers an immersive gaming experience by letting you adjust sound positioning to ensure incoming call alerts don’t disrupt your gaming focus.
