What did you think of "Alien: Romulus" overall?
Its terrible. All the hate that resurrection gets when it's just as plausible and better played out. So much potential wasted again. Why was the big chap fossilised or was it resin. If it was laying waste to the station how come….oh i can't be bothered
This and other "easter eggs" or "nods" cough plagiarism cough to previous Alien films, as many say, make me very suspicious this movie is not as good as people say, just a series of many copy & paste scenes from previous Alien movies, in other words, a mix of stolen scenes without anything new or created by Fede. These days, most people are brainless and/or brainwashed, have very low IQ, no quality standards, so of course they say some new movie is amazing when it's really not. They couldn't recognize a great movie if it slapped them in the face with a large trout.
This scene isn't controversial is just unnecessary fan service. Who cares

Looked like shit. Completely unnecessary forced cameo that took you out of the movie they could have used any other actor. They could have used only his voice if they wanted to keep him in the movie
I thought there might be controversy over how Andy was received as representation for autistic people. I'm autistic myself, and while I too am quite wary of the "autistic robot" trope, I thought Andy was handled quite well. He was easily the best character in the entire film.
Geez…….it is a great movie. Period. People are just trying to find a fault with it.

I wasn’t really bothered by the Ash copy android he still resemblance the 1979 version and was menacing in the movie but I was really bothered by the CGI for the half human half alien breed
Terrible movie. it's everything that went wrong after alien 3. it's a waste of time and i watched it for free. don't watch it, save yourself the brain cells.

I was glad I saw the movie, but the CGI Ian Holm was terrible, it could've just as easily been any other actual actor playing a damaged synthetic and would've been better. I liked the look and feel of the movie, but it seemed they worked really hard to throwback to the first two Alien films and less on actually making the movie good. The new android Andy was by far my favorite character, especially after his motives became unclear to the rest of the crew, but I cringed when he pulled out Ripley's famous line. The fan service just makes you think they didn't really take the movie or the franchise seriously, which is a shame.
I loved his inclusion and didn't see anything wrong with it.
I think if the family were ok with using his likeness in the film. Then it's ok. Nothing to do with us the viewers.
Unfortunately, Rook had the Disney Nu Who Space Babies uncanny valley vibes. I loved the film and think it handled things really well, and had no issues with ’Ash’ returning, except for the ‘off’ cgi. They just needed to use the cgi technology they had in a better way than they did, which they totally could have and has been done before to better effect. Besides that, I really enjoyed the film and wanted more when it ended, in a good way.
Not sure why there's all this hate for Rook. I have no problem with it. I wasn't happy with a famous Ripley quote though. Could have done without that

I don't think Ruck was controversial for me and I'm a big Alien fan but I wasn't a big fan of the CGI used on his mouth when he was talking, it was distracting and took me a little out of the movie. I really like this movie, it's not perfect but it is my third favorite Alien movie and that's saying alot.

Alien Romulus is an instant classic, for once, face huggers get blasted by a pulse rifle when it is attempting to face hug Rain and the android gets to help humans really well (when they are on your side only)
The only thing controversial about this movie was that final boss… seems they ran out of budget, creativity and talent and just moshed poshed a stop animation terrible CGI contraption that neither looked alien nor that belonged anywhere in that movie. I almost felt like it jumped screens from Long Legs showing playing next door. Great movie up until that very anticlimactic reveal. 🥸🥸🥸🥸🥸
Fan service went too far and prevented a good film from being great.
What I don't understand is why didn't they do a puppet/animatronic for Rook.
It would've looked a ton better and it's not like there was anything the character did that was dynamic enough to absolutely necessitate CGI or a deepfake

Yeah that CG character looked horrible. They should’ve gone with a heavily damaged practical animatronic effect… like they did with Bishop’s android in alien 3. It’s too bad because other than that, all the other special effects were absolutely gorgeous.
WTF was that? Seriously though why? WHY? It’s like Alien Resurrection all over again! Can’t we just have a good Alien movie without abominations coming out of it. Good God. 🤦🏼♀️😤🤬. WTF WAS HE THINKING? It’s like he took all the parts of the movies we hated, put them in a blender and turned it into the last 1/3 of the film. Like Resurrection if I watch it, I’ll skip the ending where some white hybrid crap character ruins the movie! Btw, where did all the facehuggers come from? One Xenomorph cocooned in space doesn’t add up to even one facehugger. So where did they all come from? Airmailed from an android on another planet?
Rook's CGI is horrible. It completely ruined the immersion for me. I still enjoyed it, though. A must watch for fans of the franchise.
