What?! Ragnarok is goated
Thanks, I needed this. The last 25% of the story is utter rubbish, although I thoroughly enjoyed the game.
Corey Barlog not making this game was the problem. The first two hours of the game feel entirely different than the rest. When you meet Odin, and fight Thor and the whole atmosphere is grim and dark. It feels the start of the game was actually made by Corey Barlog then he quit and the other director took over.
Kratos destined to die was literally the biggest plot that was built up since GOW 2018 and we never actually found out how he managed to avoid his fate. Well, apparently the writer responded on twitter/X and said, “When Kratos decided to spare the farmers at Ragnarok was the moment he changed his fate!” After I found out about that I was in disbelief. That moment was never emphasized in the game as such and if that’s the case it’s incredibly disappointing. Not to mentioned how they ruined Thor. Remember when I said the start of the game was made by Corey Barlog, Thor was the first hint for me. The beginning Thor was everything we heard so much about in 2018, this ruthless God who lives for destruction and love of the fight. Then later on in the game they turned him into a cry baby who resembled nothing of what we heard so much about from Mimir in 2018.
This video needs WAY MORE views. Holy shiy what an amazing take.
I still like the Norse versions somewhat but as soon as Ragnarok was over I was disappointed I keep hoping they will get back to the brutal fighting and behavior and visuals.
Well they half assed it because sweet baby inc was apart of the writing staff that is why Angrboda is the most Annoying part of the game
Literally everything this man says is objectively wrong :/
"We will live in the woods and train til we die" got me laughing on the floor for a whole minute💀
I agree we should’ve had 3 games
Thank Tyr the DLC made up for the slow pacing of the campaign, I've binged at least 500 hours on it.
One segment of the game that really stands apart from the rest is the first Angrboda segment. I understand why it’s there but its pacing is too slow and the Gryla segment is poor. Really stood out to me in my second playthrough
The thought process to making this game was 0. They didn't even want to make it.
Yes 100%
If God of War is a 50€ Stake at a Stakehouse
Ragnarok is a 15€ Burger
Honestly i blame Jim Ryan because he lied about believing in generations and the game got held back by the ps4 which shouldn't have happened, i believe the game could've been way better, so i blame Jim Ryan.
Saying that the Thor fight was no where near as cool as baulders fight is just pushing it..
yeah very disapointing. frustrating. fights are either too easy or too hard. they never are fun anymore. the compass is broken, the maps are weird and we get lost, only to pick an unfair fight we cant win yet and have to come back later. lame.
the only problem about god of war ragnarok for me is its not as immersive and brutal with blood and gore as it was supposed to be. yes it has some finishers but thats just not enough. the rest of you points just feels like insta minecraft players demands now days
he seriously said that he is annoyed by the cinematics of this game!!!!????
Turns out you just wanted an edgy kratos since the beginning because it looked like you were having a hard time finding excuse as to why you disliked the game.
They basically did to Kratos what they did to Luke in the disney star wars movies. Made him old, broken, sad, tired, cowardly and defeated. Regretting his life, seeing himself as a failure and running away. After Odin kills Brok his first reaction is to run away. Freya of course is way more badass then he is just like rey was to Luke. It's all cringe.
I would have to disagree on this video, young kratos was a very angry person, obviously I know why he was like that, but seeing him centuries later, calmed down & a father again, shows alot of character development, he's a changed person
The worst thing is that we barely explored norse mythology in the norse games and its already over
We could have explored so many cool elements and foughts cool monsters and gods
They could have like easily made like 6 games like for the greek games with how rich norse mythos are
Kratos in this game just feel like a hired bodyguard/mercenary in this game
It feels more like atreus game than kratos game
I felt like ragnarok itself should have been it's own game or make it bigger. I was already gonna put a stupid amount of time in it a few more hours or 20 woulda been fine.
Finally
The sequel to "God Of War Case Study"
A franchise that was originally made for 1 fan base then got infiltrated, transformed and now is made for a completely different fan base. Just like borderlands.
OK, thats my Opinion. The last Game, and Mythology itselfe sets up a lot of Things this Game had to cover. We had to visit Vanaheim, Asgard, and Swartalfheim because it would be dissapointing to cut out Realms. Jötunheim wasnt very developed, and Nifleheim, and Muspelheim where just Grinding Areas. And we had to learn more about the Dark, and Light Elfes, even if thats one of the least interesting Plotpoints.
The Game feels bloaded, and dissjointed as an Result. Just make two Games, or cover one Realm in one go, instead of revisiting it.
Also Kratos is to good. Kratos was very sympathetic in the 2018 Game, but rater lawfull Neutral. He cared for Atreus, and thats it.
Despite his distrustfull Nature, he was basicly a good guy in this one, but whitout actual Developement to explain how he ended up like this. Kratos beeing angry at Mimir for enslaving a Animal? Kratos would just say, thats just how it is, the strong take what they need. In a better Story, Mimir would have dissagreed whit Kratos, and made him rethink.
Ts not as if Kratos is a bad Person in his Home Nation Sparta. He was just formed by the cruel Time of his Lifetime.
The Second Game, or first halfe of Ragnarok sould have been about Kratos questioning things, and the third Game, or last halfe about him applying his new Knowledge.
One of the best Moments for me was when Atreus tried to close his Heart to the Suffering of the Midgardian Refugees, and how Kratos realized its wrong.
Thats how it sould have been. Kratos acting moral, based on reasons and lessions provided by the Story. He loves his Son, and dont want him to be like him, so he realized his Mistake, and changed.
Here he just does the right thing out of Instinct, and a understanding of right, and wrong.
9:20 it is, they refere to it in multible Scenes, optional ones, and Mainstory, but I agree. They did solve it just like that, and offscreen, its sooo bad.
GoW Ragnarok has the reverse problem of FF16, awesome gameplay meh story.
It's incredible how the gameplay it's so good that we're focusing on the story instead, most of the time gameplay is the problem
Yk it wouldve been interesting as you said , when you go around recruiting people and uniting them , you get to see the atrocities that odin has done to them and how u are bringing them together by their hate of odin, instead of being told that odin is bad
I felt Empty when I finish it , I can go back because I’m the boy now riding a bull in a swamp instead of fighting anything.
Played god of war 3 again instead thanks for the heads up so I didn't support the bs
I agrer😊
It’s just so sad because of the potential that the sequels could have had, how deep the lore could have gone and an actual development of Atreus as Loki, because it literally doesn’t even really matter in Ragnarok. Like Atreus big god power is to turn into a fucking wolf, he was more badass in the first game. It’s just such a disappointed looking back.
As a huge GoW fan who was there from the very first game, I am utterly devastated by the last two games. I genuinelly did not enjoy them. They felt like a shore to play through. The first was the more passable of the two, bit the epicness was gone, which is the original premise of the series: a fucking adrenaline rush. And Ragnarok especially felt like a Disney movie. Like a game trying to be something other than what it's suppossed to be. And Cory Barlog saying older Kratos is stronger than young Kratos? Get the fuck out. He literally said he played the Last of us and liked it and wanted to do exactly that with Kratos. And so he did. And fuck him for that honestly.
Ya I like the original trilogy. I was struggling with getting through the game…. was bummed
Atreus is my buggest problem with the game
He is SO DUMB
He insists on making mistakes all the time and how hes right and hes the champion it was so stupid the whole way trough
Efap absolutely destroyed all these points.
MAULER GET HIM
I actually only started enjoying the game at the 50% mark. This game felt like a constant back and forth of random side plots until it somehow ends up at invading Odin. I get why Kratos is irritated with Loki cuz he’s a teenager which I’m surprised you didn’t bring up in the video. My other complaint is that the gameplay felt super limiting for whatever reason. I had a lot more fun with 2018’s gameplay and story. Also, this might be an unpopular opinion but I thought a lot of the worlds where you explore were pretty boring.
I'm.bored with it plus hate kratos new voice
Unpopular opinion but GoW 2018 and Ragnarok were overrated asf. Terrible story direction and combat isnt as fun as before
The maps were disappointing, midgard was shrunk so you couldnt visit the best locations from previous game, alfheim was a desert,,vanaheim and svartelfheim were the most open, the others were shitty linear maps jotunheim nifelheim and asgard being the worst as you couldnt go anywhere unless story said
Ahhh, same here. Love 2018, love the Classic Trilogy, love the gameplay but it was disappointing that they did not evolve and the story is pretty fucking crap.
Bro thinks Kratos only smiled in Ragnarok, you didn't play gow 2018 atleast the full campaign
It makes me more sad I was so blind to how much hype it had when I first played it that I am now seeing this video and agreeing with a lot of it
Bro you sound like robin from teen titans
The story is focused so much on feelings, it looks like a soap opera at Times. Every cutscene is so so boring and Just more of the same blah blah blah feelings matter blah blah. God of Bore 🙈😅
Imagine… god of war 2018, followed by the sequal: God of War Fimbulwinter, followed by God of War Ragnarok. It could have worked so well as a trilogy!!!!!!!!
Honestly fighting baulder on the corpse of a dead giant whilst pulling off awesome moves was way better than ragnarok
