But before you can go to the electric gym you first need to defeat the fire boss from team star. Otherwise your road is blocked. So I find it odd that everyone says you first need to do here before you do Mela I think she is called. As far as I know there is like always some kind of order even in open world games. Correct me if I'm wrong

I really dislike the fact that the order doesn’t follow a path.. like how should a small kid know that they have to move from the from the west to the east and than back.
I went from the Bug gym to the Water gym, it was not a happy place.
I accidentally did 1, 3, 2, 7 and then checked this guide lol. I hope 4 and 6 are easier than 5. Mela beat me the first time until I spammed intimidate with Tauros.

I beat the psychic gym as my 4th gym. I thought I was over leveled but holy shit the gym was so challenging when I encountered it. My pokemons were lvl35+ and the leaders ace were 10lvl higher than mine. I somehow beat it using strategies. I thought the levels of the world adjusts according to my current progression. I was dumb founded when I encountered the level mismatch. I think in the next games they should give the player a level indication and adjust the difficulties according to the level, like some proper rpg game.
It’s stupid that this is even a thing. Obviously a linear Pokémon journey works way better. A linear journey focused on the gyms with team star and the Titans along the way. That would have been so much better
