makes no sense for ash to go after jim tho, jim had nothing to do with joyces death
maybe its the same gang that bear owed money to. purely because of jims dying words. "tell him he can have it. its all in two rock, in the-"… assuming 'it' is money and 'him' is the gang leader. i also like to think that dante is tied in with this mob. (im stabbing in the dark but it's not that dante's just crooked, but his wife was what appeared to be paralyzed from the waist below, with the bullet holes under his painting in the bedroom lead me to believe they may have attacked dante possibly recruiting him through extortion? or maybe he was recruited before he was sheriff and was lifted into that position because as vince said, he would have had to be voted in for that (i also think this may explain why dante was gathering all these funds into a pretty insecure account while having his own separate cut)
So the shark was not looking for Holt father, he was looking for Jays father, Jim.
The voice that says "calm down and nake this easier on yourself" sounds like sheriff.
This is a great game, I don't know why there's not more channels looking into a story explanation. Like they do with the Dark Pictures Anthology games.
Am I the only one who thinks they should make a DLC showing what happened in those 6 years after Jay and Vanessa escaped (If you chose them to be in love and escape together) and lived in the forrest hiding while being fugitive?
One of the best story games I've ever played
Saved all zoe's family (except jim at the end)
Got the holts in prison (dale and bear dead)
Got Jay to safety with his gf (now she's gone sadly)
And I made zoe forgive Jay bcz he's too nice to be a holt

I think Jim being a scam artist or something like that makes sense and next game will be about how he got involved with the corruption in town probably involving Dante and Vanessa's father. As adults Vanessa being a "lawyers thing" and Zoe a journalist trying to solve her grandfather's murder (who probably stole from the mafia) makes for good motivation and connects the different stories.
My guess is that drug dealers are laundering money in town. Dante said "this town doesn't run without me" probably true, because the town depends of drug money to stay afloat just like when Vegas was founded.
I'm not sold on the idea of Jim being Jay's father that would be lazy writing but I do think Jim knows who the father is.
I’m guessing they left Jim’s past so secretive to set up for the next game, playing in the present, as Zoe, and the past, as Jim

Hi I'm Italian, Sicilian precisely and I was very impressed and enthusiastic about this game. I agree with you, there is a part of the story that the authors have deliberately omitted or the past of Jim, Vince's father. Something must have happened many years before where Jim was involved and probably Sharon Holt. When he enters the Motel, Paul recognizes him and Jim denies it, during the police ambush Sharon enters the Desert Dream and Jim wears the cap in a certain sense to disguise himself. still more that we do not know or that we will see (theoretically) in a probable sequel to As Dusk Falls. Why such an enigmatic ending, namely that Jim calls his niece Zoe confessing to him that years before he had already been in those places leaves much to wonder, if If only this were the end of the game, the ending would in any case always be sad. What was Jim involved in? Or who cheated or robbed Jim? Sharon? Does it have something to do with the debts of the Holt family? There are countless hypotheses.

i wish there could be a sequel to this game, but a sequel would be impossible as there are multiple endings
Ash is prolly Dante’s son nd I think ash is the one that killed Jim in the end cause Dante convinced him somehow and jay could be Jim’s son he tried to hide himself from Dante and Sharon convincing me that he had a close relationship with both of them I think they’ll be a sequel
I think it has something to do with Dante. Jim was acting very sus to Dante in the motel.
I think Jim had a one night stand with Sharon's sister at the time, because Sharon kinda knew the sherrifs brother and Sharon herself. I think Jim was saying his wife name (Shebly) at the end (part when he was only with Zoe) (might be Sharon's sister). Jim probably had mistaken the woman he had a discussion with for his wife?? because he has dementia. Also Shelby and Sharon sounds the same kinda. That means that Jay could probably be Vince's half brother? Jim and Sharon couldve kept it a secret because Jay and Vince didn't even know eachother. Because i think it was like 15-20 years ago that Sharon's sister died? When Jay heard that Sharon isn't his real mom he was 18. So it could be possible, because she died when she was giving birth to Jay. Sharon didn't say who Jay's father was, maybe she kept it a secret for her sons and other people. Because of all the things that were happening at that point, it probably would make it worse.
Theory 1: Maybe the Dante hired someone in to kill the grandpa to take revenge for some reason/something he did in the past. It had probably something to do with money. Because he was acting sus.
I see from a lot of people saying that jim is Jay's father, i dont think so, probably Tyler or Sharon they recognize him in the motel if he used to date Sharon's sister, i think Jim probably had business with Bear and used to meet him at Sharon's bar or had business with Dante and they double crossed each other or with someone else that we dont know him, maybe he stole something and hide it in 2rock (he says in the end that he hides a key under carpet, because if you dont want others to find something hide it under their nose) so probably he wanted to go there to find what he hide (he says in the end that he choose to go with a car and that its his fault what happened) or maybe in the end there was just a robber who wanted to rob him and killed him and he doesn't know what he is talking about (we see that he forgetting things, doesn't take his pills, probably has dementia)
And what about Dantes Fate???
I think Jim is Jay's dad, although I'm not sure how old Jay's Mom was when she died.
