I struggled to finish this game, it was like watching a movie and playing on training wheels.
I understand you get early access so you have to be generous but that score is wayyy too generous
Should see the glitch on P5 that's put me 2 million meters away from the map 😂. I recorded it.
Would have been more but it crashed just after 2.
I didn’t liked Ragnarok, and didn’t understand why every single review I saw was praising it to no end. This channel has earned my respect by doing a truly critical review, not fearing being outside the common opinion.
I dont know i feel very bored with this game compared to the old school series God of war 2018 is the 1st one i have beaten just 2 times as a big fen since the beggining maybe i had enav not to say its a bad game by any means its jut how i feel about it so gonna skip .Looking forword to spider man 2 🙂
It is a great game except for all the time you have to waste playing as Loki. The kid could not be more annoying and boring.
I disagree on the playability factor. It’s totally replay-able. Bought it in December and have been playing it everyday ever since.
I think that I enjoyed this game even more than the last one because I didn’t focus so much on the profecerial aspect of it and just enjoyed the much richer storyline and the character’s stories, both individual and when the stories connected to each other.
I think the side content, while not necessary to enjoy the main story, was a welcome sight to see because it enriched the main story even further by giving more background to the main characters.
Great review 👍🏻
review codes shouldn't exist
Since they wanna give elden ring goty well, Odin was tyr the whole time and he killed brok. Also we kill Odin at the end and the prophecy was Odin laying in lokis arms. You’re welcome. Since gowr was so terrible you don’t need to play it
@Fextralife To answer your question. No… its not GOTY. 😂
I’ve played this game 3 times already it’s very replayable your armor set changes the entire game since most of them have crazy good effects loved it way more than the first game it’s my GOTY so much fun
this game so far (land of the elfs) is fucking booring, all you do are fucking nonseles puzles and some ways for reolve some situation are lame. I just want to end game for the story, but im tired of resolvo those fucking puzzles and climb fucking mountains.
Can’t play for a month? Not everyone plays games 8 hours a day. My 2 hours after work 5 days a week will I’m sure take me atleast a month 😂
Kratos is fucked up in the head so his silly decisions made sense to me even tho they frustrated me, but when he start making more sense I was applauding. We all know parents who aren’t that bright but they’re trying, so I could relate lol
after platinuming, I agree it’s a 9. Some good gameplay improvements, but the story was more concerned with setting up Atreus’s next adventure than crafting an epic conclusion to the Norse saga and the final Ragnarok mission ended up being linear and forgettable
I'll give you the real review that these people are too scared to give you. Great game until the blackwashing shows up then the game instantly grinds to a boring halt and becomes this experience you want to skip through. Blackwashing angraboda really distracts from the narrative and the immersion it starts as this amazing and engrossing journey then you are suddenly brought back to silicon Valley California when you see the random awkward African character just thrown in there. Her acting and personality immediately will make you groan and want to skip her cutscenes which obviously ruins the game and you miss part of the story but it is flat out cringey as can be. She even tries to act…well different and weird and it's clear she and her personality don't belong and are nothing like any of the other characters you meet (not a good thing). When she showed up it just really killed the game for me. Like when you play the last of us 2 and it finally switches to abby…
What difficulty were you playing on? Give me no mercy is the way to make gear feel relevant.
I would say Its the 3rd best gow game I think it lacks the scale gow3 and had the pacing and fights of gow4
Is it just me, or does the menu and UI in Ragnarok look significantly lower in quality when compared to the 2018 one?
Best ps4 exclusive is Bloodborne.
The writing is similar to the 2018 game, did he complain about that then? I don’t think so…
Why did you include so many spoiler clips wtf
I was expecting to this finale of the reboot series some God Of War 3 level of gameplay or story. Still same 7 creatures but with some tiny bosses fights. Still no gigantic cinematics "titan" level bosses. They build up to Ragnarok just to end with a lazy Thor and Odin fights. They could have done a team up Kratos with Thor to stop the Ragnarok aka that gigantic "titan" from the end but wasted potential. Atreus is still annoying till almost the end of the game where he became somehow a little bit serious. Norse mythology is so rich in lore but instead of that we got elf insects. No platforming, press "x" to jump; easy repetitive puzzles. Repeating words like "Loki", "Tyr" or other just to remind you that you play a God Of War game. What's new, more walking simulation and a part where you feed and salvage fruits for a pet just like Animal Crossing. Wasted potential, mediocre.
Disagree with comments about the writing, it makes the characters relatable – I don't think it detracts from the immersion at all, it promotes it – people don't play GOW for a history lesson, they play it because Kratos is a bad@$$ and Atreus represents the teenager that most fans of the original have now, and our kids do talk like a "2022 Netflix show" so yeah, relatable.
Not a flawless masterpiece? Damn 0/10 then not worth buying
After having finished the game. I do believe there could've been more story from Thor and Odins side. I was hoping there would've been at least 1 or 2 extra fights against Thor as well. Would've felt a bigger impact.
Ill be honest, its to similar to the first game for me. And don’t get me wrong i absolutely loved the first. But i thought after 4 years they’d of added something diff and progressive. After playing games like Elden ring etc, the game felt pretty lack luster for me. Great story though but everything else quite average
Agree with "stepped out of a netflix series" hahahahah
Nope. Overrated. Cant swim. Cant jump. Enemies are small. Got a stupid teen sidekick. Not kratos.
I was expecting greatness, but got a game that holds your hand way too much, and has a very limited exploration and world. This is a very safe, very accessible, albeit very nice to look at game for dummies (similar to the likes of uncharted etc). For this budget and the fact it was based on a very similar predecessor I expected an upgrade, something closer to an open world experience. Something reaching witcher 3 or elden ring levels of greatness. This is a polished 8/10 game.
I feel like you were wayy to harsh on the "plot being forced" what example game does it better?
Not even close. Elden Ring blows this out of the Water. I am surprised at how slow the pacing is and how bored I am. With Elden Ring, which I played through 3x and am still doing PvP, I couldn’t wait to keep playing. Gow ragnarok, it’s just kinda….meh
Waited for the part where you answered your title question. Maybe I missed it
This is one of the greatest games I've ever played in my life. Right up there with Witcher 3, GOW 2018, RDR 2, TLOU etc. Definitely not a perfect game but DAMN ITS GOOD. I just finished it and I want to replay it again. I don't think I'll ever get sick of this game
I am getting tired of playing God of Puzzles. lets add sigils and other crap to bloat the game even more. lets bounce light with out axe to make the same puzzles from the first game more of a pain. Lets read stone tablets (without mimir or Atreus reading it for us and INSTeAD just dump it in our inventory killing the immersion) Even the Rowing in the boat feels like we are gliding instead of on water. I do not care about any of the characters. I cant believe i would dislike this game so much. im 20 hours in and I feel like i am folding cloths or cutting the lawn.
I've had 2/3 areas where enemies would infinitely spawn
You are THE ONLY REVIEWER that has called out the constant American-isms and Joss whedon humour in the story. As someone who lives the first game this is what completely ruined the game for me. It was such a disappointment.
The Elden Ring army are very strong and vocal. They will riot if GOW Ragnarok wins goty. They are as annoying as any fanboys really. But you got to give Santa Monica studio for not putting out broken games like so many tripla A games including Elden Ring. Not saying it deserve goty so slow your roll their Elden ring fanboys/girls
Norse mythology, has no match despite the cross over between this game!
I am 12 hrs in so far. Some play through feels a bit long and boring. So far so good😊
About the story…. Thank You! 🙏 I’m closing in on the end of the story and after all the endless gushing and praise I was starting to think I was the only one who was getting annoyed about the aimlessness of it all. But more importantly the just ENDLESS banging me over the head about how Odin was the the most evil man that ever did evil in aaaaall of evildom. Oh, and don’t forget that he’s a Liar. And did Mimir tell you that he’s a Liar? Cuz he certainly told me about 3000 f***ing times 🙄.
Seriously, it was like listening to someone’s Twitter rant about [insert your hated politician here] and it just got exhausting to the point that I completely agree that it really took away from the overall story. Cuz when the story is just focusing on Kratos’ and Atreus’ relationship it does work (tho again, in agreement that it’s not working as well as the last game) but the endless complaining about Odin as well as making the Aesir generally come off like these unenlightened rubes who just want to take for themselves so they can be more powerful while all the people of the other realms, while they have their problems, are all still truly good people deep down just felt kinda… hamfisted? Minor spoiler: they were kinda starting to humanize Thor and his family, but then kinda just wiped that away in an instant – but I’m not done yet so that might change so I could be wrong yet. I dunno, it just felt like the made the Aesir caricature-like straw men specifically so we wouldn’t feel bad about having to fight them instead of making them real people with flaws, which is how Baldr felt. Heck even Magni and Modi to a lesser extent, tho they were only there for like a minute. Anyhow, It just felt kinda rushed and cheap. Baldr was insane, but he had his reasons for being that way and you felt bad for him. On some level you even rooted for him to have some kind of happy ending (tho if you know your myths you know that wasn’t gonna happen), but Heimdall is just written for you hate him, end of story. He’s just a cocky jerk. Why? Because they need a way for you to get his horn (that I’m not going to attempt to spell) that’s it.
But yeah, like you said, it just kinda feels like you’re being dragged around by Atreus with no real direction until… stuff just happens. This is deus ex machina, the game. Almost literally (does anyone ever come out of a machine at any point 🤔😂). The plot moves forward cuz random stuff happens. Random stuff that we already know will happen because we are given the prophecies. Otherwise the gameplay is good.. for the most part. Some minor complaints about the harder challenges were they just throw too much stuff on the screen at one time (I can only imagine how a base ps4 would handle it) and often in a fairly small space at that so it can be kind of hard to tell what the heck is going on. That and the shield shard with the onslaught shield will often run right by the enemy you’re trying to bash (you know, the ones with the blue circle that you’re SUPPOSED to bash) and go after some moon behind them. Why ? 🤨. Little weird things like that, but otherwise it’s fine. Spoiler again: the new weapon is nice and enjoy it quite a bit. Also, the Lunda armor is kinda broken (in a good way) either steal poison from enemies with said new weapon, or just punch ‘em to death. The later is the best strategy for the big chompy dragons locked up that you can fight 3 of. Knocks ‘em out in less than a minute.
Anyhow I’d personally only give this like 3.8 to 4 out of 5, where as the last game was definitely a 4.5 outta 5 for me. The aimless and frankly nagging story just didn’t hit like the close emotional story of the last game. Side note rating game out of 10 is pointless. Why? Because everything lower than 5 is crap, and what’s the real difference between a 5 and 1 anyway? You’re not B playing either game for fun that’s for sure, so just rate out of 5, or some equivalent like A B C D and F.
Rant over
About the musical theme – there is one that stuck with me (besides the scores from the previous game) – Brok and Sindri theme. It is both beautiful and sad…
Honestly wish you were more hard in the combat and weak pseudo rpg elements crammed in
It is kinda weird knowing that lots of your video is all about Elden Ring. At some point I think it kinda a bias view
