On the technical issues for PC, a patch has been put out which seems to have resolved most people's performance problems. Technically it went live last night but I wanted to wait a bit and make sure it was actually fixing it for most people before pinning this. Also seems to have mostly resolved the steam deck issues at the same time.
Yeah, I love this game. It got a bad wrap for sure
I had already made up my mind that this game was going to be bad. That was until they released it on pc gamepass. I've been playing it off and on for the last few days and i have to say… It's alot better than i was assuming.
It is repetitive but i can't stop playing it until i get to the end. I actually enjoy the combat and the graphics are absolutely drop-dead gorgeous.
I guess the old saying "don't judge a book by it's cover" still rings true for me here.
On sale on Epic game store for under 20$ right now! yes, it's on epic but still, 20 bucks for the deluxe edtion….
Yah great review here
Finished this for the first time today on maximum security, basically hard mode, and loved it! The combat was so interesting and I really hope other games use this as a starting to point to improve horror action in the future.
On PS5 in August 2023 I didn't experience any performance issues. The game may have been a little short and the final boss is difficult on hard which is to be expected, I didn't get bored of the enemies. A few more would have been good, but it's really not much less than dead space original. Looking forward to getting dlc which I'll start tonight and thanks for adding a positive review. I feel like many reviewers get upset whenever they have to deal with a new system. Because although there are some exploitable bugs in the combat and the push is a little overturned, It felt meaty and visceral and insane!
I get how some people might enjoy this, but to me there's way too many negatives the goods can't overcome. Jacob is slow as hell and on top of that the game makes you crawl and squeeze through stuff every time it can. The "boss" that you fight 4-5 times is just the worst and final boss is not that better. The game force you to hand combat but the way it is is so boring. It also has a stomp move, but many times Jacob was more interested in stomping dead enemies behind him than one that was attacking in front of him. The ambiance and visuals are nice, but everything else is meh to bad, including the story.
As someone who has MS, I find these assessability options really useful and helps me play and complete the game.
I wanna see a gamer that finishes these new games with no patches. That would be cool to see and find out if they are able to finish the games made these days.
Yes you nailed it when you said that it builds tension ! Really throws you off when nothing happens.
Excellent review
I feel like a lot of reviewers got sucked into directly comparing this with Dead space, and consequently sold the game short
Did anyone manage the auto dodge to work? It never worked for me
Steam deck runs great and looks amazing actually. I just started playing it through. I should play it on my pc(6950 xt), but native SD runs great.
Game seems decent enough, but the developers said don’t expect Dead Space and then added essentially all of the mechanics from Dead Space in a different environment and story.
Fair review, good game
I thought the game was great but you are right on the lack of enemies and I wish there were more variety of boss fight instead of using the same boss which you find out doesn’t feel like a boss since you end up beating many of them easily
boss fights were pretty difficult well the one boss u fight multiple times
Lack of enemy variety definitely a big disadvantage for me but hopefully the sequel and or DLC will have more enemies
Brilliant review my brother.
Jumpscares in this game was a waste. Whatever was in the water, should of just came out at us
Sucks that there isn’t a new game + option after finishing the game.
YES! Great Review. If I could put my thoughts into words like this Man did, it'd come out the same. Glad you enjoyed this game as much as I did. I cannot wait for the DLC ( more lore ) and hopefully the 2nd game comes sooner !!! Subscribed.
I like that he mention there is difficulty level
And to me they completely ruined the grip by having it need ammo. Ruined it for me completely.
You convinced me. Now on my wishlist!
I played this game after the patch and wow it’s a masterpiece. This is what next gen gaming is all about. This game brought back feelings I got from gaming in my childhood. Towards the middle to end I just got sucked into some of these encounters and fights. It’s so realistic. I felt like I was there with him. Great game best game of year prolly.
