MM3D is just a remaster, not a remake. All Nintendo did was give Grezzo the N64 source code and they updated that for the 3DS release. A true remake R&Ds a game from the ground up, not reuse an entire code base of the original game and poorly update the code with jank fixes to patch out the old glitches. The only new content are bosses and an extra quest, which accounts for maybe 5% of the game, when everything else is copy/pasted from the source. Come on dude, people knew this the day it released.
The 3DS version is SUPER beautiful and the 3D always blows my mind, feels like I am actually in it.
I tried to go authentic and pay my respects to the original but…The N64 was simply not ready for what Ocarina and Majora were attempting in 1998. They were simply punching above their weight pure and simple.
Majora deserves better than what the N64 was capable of giving it. And it feels unfair to the games to see and feel it sullied by such a frustrating slog.
(Generally controller limitations, terrible analog, absence of a much needed free camera)
Ehh i dont agree n64 is kinda boring without those filters ill go with gamecube i like the textures too
If youre using a texture pack to play MM3D then you missed the point and might as well play the N64 version 💀
Hey guys, I never played this game. Do think the best way is the number 2 or number 1 for android? Please tell me if the 3ds version is this bad
2 Ship 2 Harkinian ladies and gents
This video is amazing. Awesome man!
Ironically, the GC version might be the best to play now that 2Ship2Harkinian is out. It fixes some bugs in the N64 release and you don't need the buggy GC N64 emu. Just waiting for texture pack support hopefully soon!
The 3ds restoration + textures is my go to, specially playing on my phone .
Cemu?
How fast this changed. Humans are crazy.
Ship of harkinian 2 MM
Great video first of all to with. I'm going to disagree with you on a point you made about the 3DS as you stated "That the Deku jumping is broken in it" I've heard this complaint by a few people and I actually loaded up the 3DS verison along side to the N64 version to see if could find what people were complaining about when they said it was buggy and to be honest I'm not understanding were this complaint is coming from. I found that the deck jumping was in the 3DS version maybe sightly slower than N64 but I never had unintendede deaths as people claimed they did not matter how hard I tried. So I do think the complaint is really exaggerated and over blown out of proportion honestly.
I can understand were your coming from more with the Zora swimming in the remake if there's one change I don't agree with in the remake its that but in that sense it's not offensively bad because they weren't many sections of the game were you needed to swim at great speeds anyway or areas were you needed to use magic to break certain creates anyway so again I feel that change is a bit exaggerated to sometimes to because it doesn't in anyway break the the game or make it unplayable. Still a less then ideal change though
I'm glad that people are making mods though to fix these changes and complaints to the remake because it's a pretty solid remake out these complaints better graphics and improved art style improvements to the bombers notebook gyro controls the 3DS version is the better version of the game outside those less then ideal changes which people have about it.
What is the best way to play it in May 2024 ? I've seen the Zelda MM Recompile version who got released like 1 week ago which i tested and felt pretty solid, but i didn't try anything else before.
I'm getting lost will all those projects.
PC PORT NOW YO
N64 is the definitive version
Ngl I really liked the GameCube and Wii u version just because the controllers I couldn't really tell the graphics difference because I have bad eyes lol
Dude, the remake with those textures looks like shit😂 Like one of those super duper 4k ultra mods for gta v
Wiseguys pc port is now the best way to play
Great Video started watching it after the new PC port has come out
3DS is probably the best, even in vanilla form. It's most palatable for modern players.
recomp
So glad to see that this needs to be updated now!
Don't use PJ64! It can be exploited Kaze Emenuar has a detailed Video about it.
I hope someone ports Majora's Mask to GameCube when the decomp is finalized. I was hoping we'd get Mario 64 and improved version of Ocarina of Time, but those never happened. I think the GameCube deserves an actually good version of this game.
We're so close to getting the PC port, I think I'll wait until it releases and supports visual mods before playing. Ocarina of Time looks great via Ship of Harkinian and mods
I would literally pay for this set up.. I wish I knew how easily
Anybody ever had trouble with the Collector’s Edition on GameCube crashing every 20 mins? I played it when I was a kid and it was seamless, played great. Now my copy drops to 8fps when there more than 3 enemies on screen and randomly crashes. It’s really frustrating me.
