Will we get a Arlo plushi ???
i hope you will make a video on the latest super mario movie trailer, because your opinion that it will be just a silly kids movie where mario is ridiculed just to make kids laugh has been completely shattered.
In the latest trailer, Mario has never looked so cool.
(It was pretty obvious that Mario was going to be bad at first because like us gamers he's new to the world and then gets stronger. But I hope the final trailer convinced you as much as I did.)
totally lost a lot of respect for you for actually attacking for Chris Pratt grow up
12:02 Chris Pratt bringing the movie down. HARD disagree. I just rewatched the trailer simply because I felt like it, and his voice work sounds perfectly fine. I think your initial reaction to the voice actor announcement is biasing you and making you judge his lines too harshly. He really isn't bad.
Terrible takes from Arlo here, "I guess Mario is from the real world, which I hate." Wasn't Mario always said to be from Brooklyn? That's all I've ever heard since I was a little kid, seems perfectly fine. As far as Mario's ineptitude, it's obvious Mario is going to get better throughout the movie, it's called a character arc.
You're gonna hate that the movie DOES start in the "real world" they're borrowing a lot from Super Mario Super Show.
Personally.. i think you need to review other movies and not just video game movies. Because when you do you have nothing good to say anyhow.
It's not right in my mind that you ONLY do reviews of movies based on games.. and then just dunk on them. You need to branch out and review other movies not based on games. You're primarily a video game related channel. And i think you should branch out more before talking crap about movies video game related. You could have reviewed puss in boots for crying outloud.. that's right up your ally i think. Review more family movies.
2:57 I don't agree with that at all Arlo. It's more the fact that Mario isn't terrible at everything, it's that he's entirely out of his element AND he doesn't have his brother with him for help.
Say what you will about Chris Pratt as Mario but I have no doubts that this film will be at least decent.
My only concern would be this: I desperately hope they don't try to make the Toads into the next Minions. This is Illumination we're talking about!
Eh…This is already sending up some red flags. We have the typical Current Year Hollywood formula of the bumbling, incompetent hero and the all-knowing girl-boss. And that's like the exact opposite of what these characters are supposed to be. Like yeah, I'm OK with Mario having to work his way up to being the legendary hero famous across the Mushroom Kingdom. But what I'm not OK with is Peach being a badass. Thing is, Peach IS powerful, but she is honestly oblivious to her own strength. She's so hyper-feminine that she just waits for Mario to save her, but on those rare occasion when she does join the action she is perfectly capable of handling herself. My point is that I have a really hard time believing that this version of Peach would rely on Mario for anything, and that's a big problem.

My brain thought Arlo was gonna say something else there instead of business and I can’t stop laughing.
It sucks because it's not even like Chris Pratt is a bad actor, it's just that this performance really hurts and I don't think he understands just how important this role is.
Profiting off someone else’s design is slimeball behavior.
Cant believe Arlo forgot the lore where princess peach earned her crown beheading the koopa demigod bowarilstrasz with a halberd during the shell wars. Thats like basic mario knowledge.
Mario coming from Brooklyn New York isn't such a bad thing. This adds to the character. Although In the games, we are never told about Mario and Luigi's background and why he has a very thick Italian accent, if he came from Brooklyn. The movie now seems to answer all questions about Mario's origin.
👌
I hate the real world shit too
Arlo: "Oh, so Mario's just gonna be portrayed as bumbling and incompetent throughout the movie 'cause it's 'FUNNY' or whatever, ugh…"
Later Trailer: [depicts Mario breezing through the obstacle course and punching through the Bowser cutout at the end like a boss]
I’m looking forward to it the Super Mario Bros. Movie looks great so far.
I doubt that is Cranky.
Pretty sure that until recently, it was canon that Mario was a plumber from Brooklyn. Your complaint about Mario being from the real world doesn't make sense.
Anyone else notice Arlo begging for Shy guys…with a still frame showing a shy guy and a snifit on screen?
"I wish there was a Shy Guy Character"
Is on a picture that features Multiple Shy Guys and even a Snifit.
I think the recration of some 2D parcours is some kind of training space for the big fight.
im sorrry arlo im a huge fan of yours but I think youre being way too harsh and critical on how the movie looks already, maybe it's just a bad day. not mad you have a different opinion at all, I love watching different opinions on my favorite things. however, this video felt like every comment you had was either negative or barely reaching meh at best when to be honest, I feel like this was one of the best possible outcomes for a video game movie, nontheless a mario movie. I couldn't even imagine how difficult this movie has been to create
Mario has always been from Brooklyn I would be mad if they did anything different
Having the various places be called Worlds in the games would line up with them being in other galaxies and only accessible via pipes.
Nintendo would have had very little involvement with this. This is why every character seems to be acting unusual.
This chris pratt thing is blowing my mind. i thought he was the PERFECT choice (charlie day too). he cant be a mega loud hyper maniac throughout the entire movie. he has to be fully 3d, have quiet moments, pensive, sad, angry, scared, etc. its a movie. not a one-liner in a video game. i feel like theres a lot of mob mentality on this one.
He should've just played Dr Mario in the mobile app not Mario in the big screen movie.
I don't think they meant to make Mario seem like an idiot, I personally see it as him learning how this world works and getting used to the Mushroom kingdom
COMPLETELY agreed on the Chris Pratt aspect, Arlo. I just thought while watching this video that the movie could’ve done without voice acting altogether. Like, that’s become part of the identity of the Mario franchise (no voice acting), so I don’t think it would’ve been weird for the general audience. But, like you’ve mentioned before, it’s a selling point. At this point, instead of feeling like it’s FOR the fans, it feels like they’re going for the most generalized moviegoing experience possible so everybody can enjoy instead.
Chris Pratt's Mario voice is the new Ugly Sonic
I do not for the life of me understand why they even gave Mario any lines at all. Throughout the games, Mario has been funniest when he's the silent protagonist, letting others interpret his nods and gestures as entire sentences. They really should have just let Mario "wahoo" and "oomph" and "yah!" for his actions and slapstick.
If the different lands are different universes thing is true, how cool would it be if Mario went through the wrong pipe and ended up in another Nintendo game world? Like, he just randomly shows up in the Metroid universe for two seconds before finding the right pipe to go in.
Not generally a fan of "Chris Prattio", I just don't think his voice fits Mario and this trailer really proved it even more to me sadly. Would be hard to get the movie to sell with Martinet as a lead role sadly but it feels like Chris is just doing it for the paycheck at this point. Jack Black Bowser is alright, would also like the growlier voice but it is a far better match. Luigi's VA is for sure a perfect match. Not sure about Peach's VA, it's again OK but I think they could have found a VA that matched a bit better too, though it seems to be a good representation of her so I can't complain. Animation is surprisingly great, especially for Illumination standards which to me were never high so it's good to see the Studio taking it seriously. I have far higher hopes since, well the bar is the Live Action one ages ago. I know they have to cater for family audiences so the Comedy for me may be more bland, I just hope they don't do any "modern trope" jokes like the flossing in the first Sonic Movie.
