I totally agree with your verdict. I played for 5 hours or so. Turn the voice volume down to 10% and it’s really quite fun. The game would be so much better if it had better writers. It’s got great mechanics. Such a shame. A wasted opportunity.

Game looks interesting my only complaint is the effects. They look so low resolution they don't match the background or the world.
I remember playing the demo of this and loving the abilities and parkour style gameplay, but wasn’t sure if I wanted to get it at full price. Right now it’s 60% off and I’m thinking of getting it finally, also this review helped convince me because as always it was fair and honest. All I wanna do is run around, kill some enemies and let off some steam lol

isn't most of open world game repetitive? That shouldn't be a con because I see nowadays, most of games are repetitive. it is like common thing on game now. I finished this game including DLC and loved it. Kinda sad that people are missing out by listening to bad reviews. game is like $20 right now, it is well worth $20 imo.
Regardless still a bad game, horrible dialog with the character, combat is weak.
On hardest difficulty, enemies got high health, no new movesets for them or anything nothing. the only thing your doing is holding a button to keep firing and thats it and press one button for special abilities.
Game isnt worth full price. When I can spend that said full price for a game like Ghost of Tsushima and Red dead redemption 2, and any other game that just out performs this.
Even a game like Infamous still does better than this gamd.

Im on the fence, and with it being on sale for $40 atm, i still dont think that's cheap enough for me to purchase.
I played the demo absolutely ADORED the combat how flashy it was and how smooth it was to zip around anywhere.
But, i found the battles not engaging. Fun/cool but not difficult.
Also i love me some cutscenes and good voice acting and great characters. I hear her relationship with cuff is annoying af.. and like theyre the main cast how do they pull that off?? Lol😂
I wish they combined the battle machanics from forspoken with kingdom hearts and final fantasy… everything. Lol

Got this game on sale through Epic. I'm about three and a half hours in- I Iove it! I really like the unique spin on the protagonist and at times Frey's commentary makes me LOL. Also, the combat is great and all the crafting and magic systems seem up to par. I'm really enjoying it!
I dont get the hate for real i played through it without any complains plot twist fun combat little bit short once you unlock new magic your path goes to the next magic and so on it would be nice to stick longer to one kind of magic for longer but theres enough to do for sure
Game was on sale and i wanted to give it a chance becsuse i did like the idea of it and i gotta say until you get ur fire powers the game is slow because your forced to fight at a distance but once you obtain it it got more fun. Chapter 11 was the most painful and i just didnt enjoy the final boss much but whatever
I wish frey was a bit more likeable but whatever, I'll give it like 6 out of 10 once i got all my elemental powers i had more fun

I’m very happy I came across this video, I myself have just finished the main story after 21hrs and have to say I’m very pleased. Ending even shed me a few tears. Granted the game has its issues it didn’t deserve the hate it got because they couldn’t be bothered to give it a proper chance. If you look at most videos covering this game it’s only the negative stuff and negative outlooks – we should always accept regardless of the quality of the game if it makes people happy and it’s actually playable who cares, play something else move on and save some minutes of your life

I got this as part of a buy 1 get 1 free deal at GameStop and it’s a pretty good game. The story is decent and gameplay is good as well. I’d say it’s worth playing but not at full retail price though.

I loved this game, and I always will for the rest of my life I enjoyed ever single inch of a spec of this game so much that I have platinum it and the dlc that's recently released
I would get this on sale and once all the bugs and issues are sorted out, I can mute the crap dialogue.
Got the Platinum Trophy with about 80 Hours. I found it Very Fun. It was just what I expected it to be, an Ability Spamming Game. I Love the Combat, It's So Fun. I for One Flowed with it. Looking forward to the DLC and the New Abilities!!
Was really bad at first but I really am enjoying the story now. Way better than PIague and the combat is next level. Feels like the Matrix and Flash combined. The voice acting can be horrible at times but surprisingly I reall enjoy running and exploring this massive open world.I will give this 8.3/10

I've played this game and its not perfect, but their are hidden gems in this if you look hard enough past the cringe dialogue and how Frey is introduced. As a writer there is a good story and characters here but they needed more time to flesh them out and fix the pacing cause oh boy its rocky. I know many don't like this game but I think of it as a guilty pleasure 🙂

As a newbie is gaming, l just loved this game as it did not stop me from playing it ( most of the most difficult ones usually let me down bu telling me ‘You Died’!! For more than 200 times (Elden Ring… hahaha. I am aware that I need to have more experience to play more difficult games.
Anyway, I loved the graphics, the storyline and everything. 100% for a person who is just starting becoming familiar with this kind of games.
I am extremely appreciative of this review. Prior to this I had only watched IGN’s review and they mostly showed clips of dull environments, a little bit of combat, the main city, and general exploration along ground-level areas. Additionally it was like every line they said also featured an over-harsh critique, or back handed insult about the game itself.
You’ve done the opposite. You’ve shown the vibrancy of colours, a range of spells and combat manoeuvres, and all around parkour including water, air, and running-based styles of movement.
IGN made me not want to play the game. You made me really want to. And that’s what I’ll do

Hating on this game is just a trend, this game has some of the absolute most top tier combat, traversal mechanics and graphics/visuals I’ve ever had the pleasure of interacting with. The biggest problem this game has is the map design and mission design, it’s repetitive and empty but I’m someone who’s focused on combat and traversal and this game nails that. The story and dialogue is nowhere near as bad as people have been led to believe. On my PC I’ve had absolutely no performance issues with all settings on max and I don’t even have a top tier PC. I love this game, it’s unfortunate there’s so many people who will never be willing to try it and just follow the trend.

The game just went on sale for around $40 on Steam so I went ahead and bought it and so far, I really like the game though I do see where the game needs improving. Especially thanks to your review. This isn't worth $70 at all but $40? I am not complaining.
I love forspoken, and it would literally take me 10 sec to get into the open world from launch on ps5, i was stunned every singe time lol

If forspoken is repetitive then returnal is a train wreck, it’s the same bing the whole way through, yet people liked it.
