I kinda call bullshit on the notion of "video game storytelling has only been good in the last decade" like there are some killer 6th and 7th gen titles that have a good focus on narrative, as well as being pretty influential. Spec Ops: The Line was a year before TLOU. Mass Effect was great, the Max Payne games, Dead Space 2, GTA IV, I could really go on. Storytelling in games has always been good, there are just more high budget narrative driven ones. Hell, I think Jak II is the best game Naughty Dog has made, especially for the narrative/gameplay synergy. I just find it irritating that people forget about prior generations when it comes to narrative in games

Now I know that after 15 hours something important happens, and this information is enough to spoil the surprise. It's not the first time I make the mistake to watch a review video in advance, but I'm sure it's the last time.
One thing I really don’t like is the map system and the searching for loot im always running around in circles double backing looking up and around for nothing I wish it was a little more intuitive when you know you’re on the right path

I'll give you the real review that these people are too scared to give you. Great game until the blackwashing shows up then the game instantly grinds to a boring halt and becomes this experience you want to skip through. Blackwashing angraboda really distracts from the narrative and the immersion it starts as this amazing and engrossing journey then you are suddenly brought back to silicon Valley California when you see the random awkward African character just thrown in there. Her acting and personality immediately will make you groan and want to skip her cutscenes which obviously ruins the game and you miss part of the story but it is flat out cringey as can be. She even tries to act…well different and weird and it's clear she and her personality don't belong and are nothing like any of the other characters you meet (not a good thing). When she showed up it just really killed the game for me. Like when you play the last of us 2 and it finally switches to abby…
My only gripe with the game is how they handle “difficulty” it’s not actually more difficult they just hit harder and don’t flinch also like he said having to upgrade all over again
Leave it to goon culture gaming/wrestling to not have a clue…they have to be at the very bottom of any reliable news on gaming or wrestling period…
One of the biggest things I miss is the "quick turn" button. Having to slowly turn around for enemies that leap and are now behind you is so frustrating in battles
What was the point of the censor bar on the weapon you did a terrible job I could see it easily. Thank god I avoided these types of videos.
Man Scott you really dropped the ball here. Absolute shame you showed off the new weapon. I haven’t even gotten to that part as I’m sure many players haven’t. What the F was that blurred out? You can still see the damn weapon. There was NO need to even mention that. NO reviewer mentioned it cos it’s a spoiler. You are truly the worst reviewer on What Culture. Shame on you dude.
I literally just deleted the game after 15 hours because I was so bored of it. Guess I'll miss out but that is an outrageous amount of time for a game to start getting good. Might just be me but so far I was not even feeling in good hands with the story either with how annoyingly unreasonable the characters' actions and motivations have been, and how quick they change their whole attitude over minor revelations.
I honestly dont see how the combat being mostly the same as the 2018 game being a negative since reinventing the wheel is honestly quite dumb. The combat in the 2018 game was incredible and them just giving us that with improvements is smart.

love this game but I hate having to grind & HATE timed rune chests! If i could eliminate that i would 😤no other game makes me rage so much when not timing a rune chest right after the millionth time.😅
As a father of 3 boys i really felt with the first game. My oldest is now in his teens and is playing the first game and I’m playing the new one. I can see how as kratos trying to protect his son reflects on how I feel about my sons. Trying to protect them but also trying to give them more freedom. It’s a very hard balancing system

Regretting watching this “Spoiler free” review. Have been looking forward to this game for ages and was getting time this weekend to play it but the way Scott keeps talking about the 15 hour mark and gods killing their fathers just makes me think Atreus is gonna kill Kratos and we’ll then play as Loki from that point. He better have not ruined it
Hey guys i've been spoiled of somes things in the game but apparently other friends told me to not worry cause i have seen absolutely nothing and my jaw gonna on the ground after a major scene that's bgonna happen later in the game. Here for a good story. Decent gameplay would be nice; however, I don't care about reused animations lmao.
I just don’t see how the points he’s taking away praise about is actually anything to take away from the game. The sections where you squeeze through stuff just feel natural, don’t feel like loading sections or anything. Personally this does feel like a sequel from the get go. This 10-15 hour mark thing is something I just don’t see because of how good I think the game is. I got the game on preorder yesterday and I managed to put in an impressive 11 hour slog on it and I was never bored once
For me, this game is everything I was hoping for and more, I’m absolutely in love with this game
