Did you watch Apple’s big event yesterday? There were some cool upgrades, but also some disappointments – is Apple really selling $800 and $900 phones with 60Hz displays? Yes, yes it is. You can have a foldable for less than that or one of the best Android cameras for around that much.
Discover Samsung is a quarterly sales event and the Fall edition is this week. It’s a mix of daily and week-long deals. For some offers, you have time to ponder, for others, you have until midnight.
The daily deal today is the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip6. The base 256GB model is $1,100, the 512GB one is $1,220 (those are the MSRPs). If you have nothing to trade-in, Samsung is offering a $150 instant discount.
But if you do go the trade-in route, things get interesting. You don’t really need much, just about any smartphone will convert into $200 credit, so now is the time to dig around your drawer. Additionally, you can get 20% off Samsung Care+ with Theft & Loss protection. The monthly plan (cancel any time) is $14.40 a month (down from $18/mo), a 2-year subscription is $280 (down from $350).
Alternatively, you can grab the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold6 with a $450 discount with trade-in. When trading in, any smartphone should fetch $300. If you have something older like the Z Fold2, that’s worth $600. Note that the $450 is only offered when you pick the “no trade-in” option.
Not everyone loves foldables, so have a look at the Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra instead. It has a 6.8” display that’s around the same size as the iPhone 16 Pro Max and a better zoom camera with a 111mm lens and 50MP sensor (vs. 120mm 12MP). There’s a mid-range zoom camera too (10MP 67mm). The no trade-in discount is $300, but you can get up to $750 credit if you send in an old device.
The Samsung Galaxy S24+ is an alternative to the iPhone 16 Plus. It has a 6.7” display, but it is a sharper 120Hz LTPO panel, not the outdated 60Hz panel you get from Apple. The MSRP is $1,000, but the $200 no trade-in discount brings that to under the 16 Plus price (and this is for 256GB storage, not 128GB).
You can pair your new Samsung phone with a new smartwatch. The Galaxy Watch Ultra lasted three days without AOD in our testing. The watch has a 1.5” display and is suitable for diving with a 10ATM rating. It has ECG and blood pressure monitoring too.
The Apple Watch Series 10 is the thinnest in the series yet, going down to 9.7mm, presenting it as a major achievement. And yet the Samsung Galaxy Watch7 is already 9.7mm thick. You can get a Bluetooth/Wi-Fi only watch or an LTE model (+$50).
While you’re at it, you can pick up new TWS headphones too. The Samsung Galaxy Buds3 are $20 off and you can get up to $100 credit for trading in old buds. And you get a free Clip Case, if you want extra protection.
The more advanced Samsung Galaxy Buds3 Pro don’t have a straight discount, but they do have an offer for up to $100 trade-in credit. These also come with a free Clip Case (which usually costs $30).
