games i loved most from 2024 at this point are #1 shadow of the erdtree, #2 helldivers2 (i also dont play multiplayer shooters , but love how it looks and plays (mgs5 movement)…the first two months were amazing. i talked all night with random cool people from different parts of the world and with my old friends with whom i used to play xbox360 coop stuff back in 200x… it was so cool and fun and meme ingested…comradery award of 2024), pacific drive, halo 2 and 3 (animal well), hi fi rush, stellar blade (combat mechanics are really nice, game itself very repetetive and boring, but the last chapter is good), balatro.
No Rest for the Wicked looks like it could be my game of the year, but i dont play unfinished games, so i will wait a year or two till it's ready)))
and best from previous years that i discovered in 2024 are : planescape torment, lies of p, superliminal, norco, tunic, neon white, blasphemous, dark souls 3, inscryption, celeste, kingdom two crowns, vampire survivors, last hitman trilogy.
from 2024 releases that I missed and very interested to try at some point are Unicorn overlord and final fantasy rebirth.
next on the radar in 2024 is for sure #1 black myth wukong !!!
ps. also games i have installed and plan to play next are: lorelei and the laser eyes, baldurs gate 2, braid anniversary edition (original is one of my goats), disco elysium, nier automata, original sin2, Pathfinder: kingmaker or wrath…persona 5, undertale, yakuza 0, , resident evil 1 remake…
Bf4 is a great game once you really sink your teeth into it
Greedfall is the game i've enjoyed the most this year. Alsl revisiting modded fallout 4 and Skyrim
Elden Ring's DLC and Helldivers.
Games okay.
Idek how to describe how nice GoT’s combat is. You always play games where other characters look at you like a legend but it doesn’t feel genuine, in the beginning of the game you’re already a badass but by the end it actually feels like you are the demon everyone thinks you are. Just little things they added like enemies running away or making him get dirty and bloody without the need for him to get the shit kicked out of him beforehand added a lot to the feeling
i guess it was from last year, but Frozen Flame got me stuck really hard
I played and loved Horizon Zero Dawn this year. The combat is fun, story interesting and it is so beautiful.
You need to play Nightingale.
Mortismal, Ghost of Tsushima is one of my top ten favorite games of all time. Glad to see it get some love. Thanks for the tips on Pacific Drive and Banishers. I was curious about both but the games now have a higher priority on my "check this out" list.
I played Spiderweb Games to death back in the day when I only had an iMac. As much as I enjoyed Avernus I loved Geneforge, in no small part due to the graphics which made it feel like a modern game in comparison. That's why I'm surprised and a little disappointed to see that the new generation of Geneforge games look much more like an updated Avernus than Geneforge.
Ff7 rebirth is my new favorite of all time
I really enjoyed Ghost of Tsushima at the beginning but by the middle for me it began to become really repetitive.
ghost of tsushima definitely struck so many perfect balances for an open world ARPG in the modern day; it doesn't bombard you with a million different junk icons on the map, the world is the right size to feel varied but not bloated, and it feels rich and dense, it introduces a ton of fresh mechanics to tbe genre; not to mention the attention put towards art direction; i could ride around the isle of tsushima for hours. i need to try iki island someday!
I love that the description of Pacific Drive in this video would make zero sense to anyone who has not played it. It's just a hard game to describe. I do love it, though.
That scene in Banishers with the nightmare was pretty epic. Game is surprisingly good although the map and quest tracking is a bit annoying.
My list: (2024 games)
-Millenia (good!)
-Enshrouded
-Manor Lords
-Last Epoch
My list: (most played this year from any year)
-Satisfactory (good!)
-Old World (good!)
-Book of Hours
-Planet Crafter
-Civilization VI
-Solium Infernum
-Baldur's Gate 3 (still going ;))
99% xbox player 1% pc player here. I've wanted to play Ghose ever since it was revealed. Constantly wondering if buying a PS would be worth just playing this one game. Luckily for me it got released on PC! Not only that, the requirements weren't out of this world and my 3 year old laptop runs it perfect.
You can't turn the camera 10 degrees without seeing something beautiful.
2023 was such a banger, the first half of this year has just been catching up on all those titles I bought and couldn't get to! Most recently I got the 100% on Dave the diver, spent a lot of time with the Final Fantasy 7 remake, and caught up with all the content from the past year or two in Warframe.
The game I think I've enjoyed the most this year I'd say is rise of the ronin.. team ninja knows how make a damn good combat system. And I just started banishers last night, only played for a little over an hour but it seems pretty cool
