I just realized I made a mistake with this video and I was wrong when referring to the “Newtons secret law of the Dick to Hand Ratio” it was a mistake it meant to read “Beef must be greater than size of hand”
Now I understand why Ragnarok won BEST NARRATIVE at TGA
I am playing it on PC now and its a snooze fest…. so much dialogue and exposition, its like 80% cutscenes and 20 gameplay, reminds me the last of us 2, and Kratos voice is bad compared to the original one.. but I will finish it because I paid for it 🙁
To be fair, SPOILER
the story, particularly the actual Ragnarok event, gets rushed after Brok's death. It's still has amazing development, but the actual war could've been done better.
How about problems with gameplay?
Not sure if that is what people are Really complaining about for this game.
my issues for this game is that, this IS the LAST GOW Game to be set in Norse Mythology and yet it feels like a Long DLC expansion pack. The title is called RAGNAROK, yet the whole game feels safe or not the end of the world vibe to it. Not much as been improved since the first game. And yes i understand that's fine with some people…….but for me, kind of expected a little more.
The game has:
-pacing issues, like there's WAAAY too many calm moments for a game to be called GOD OF WAR and RAGNAROK.
-Atreus is annoying, still. But I do like playing as him.
-the game tips on you WAY too much of anything you do.
-tropes with modern gaming with everything having a level system.
-still has this wokeness flavor too it, thanks to Sony pushing that agenda. But it's not as bad as Marvel Spiderman 2.
-Still the tank-ish stiff controls for playable characters, personally I don't like it and I think can be easily refined, but whatever.
-And since it's a Sony game with the movie/game trope, it focuses that too much the game feels more linear than it should.
With that being said, there are Plenty of things That do like as well:
-voice acting
-graphics
-characters
-level design……..for the most part.
-sound
-music
-art design
-movie magic
-Plot twists, Sony games are just so good at that in general.
-combat………..mmmmm again for the most part, though it goes with that it feels sluggish or stiff as well.
-content, ok this is sort of a mix bag. It just how the game works around, but the there's Plenty to do, GOD this game is SO LONG.
So yea……..that's my criticism! lol peace ✌
"Unanswered questions" propably refering to who blew the horn
The way you’re getting mad at the comments just proves their point, game is flawed in gameplay, story and pacing but you’re too attached and emotional to understand this. I enjoyed playing the game but it’s definitely no more than an 8/10 for me.
I just hated how they handled ragnarok itself thats all. i liked the overall game
Its rubbish…barely interactive at a lot of points..cringey, and forgotten already…i found it unbareable
Honestly, from what I've seen going around, the crowd is divided on two sides:
New fans that like the new GoW games, but never played the old GoW games
And
Old fans that played the old GoW games and don't like the new ones because of how drastically they changed
I am personally on the old fan crowd. GoW has been one of my favorite franchises to ever exist. I understand how people like the new games. But calling them masterpieces and praising them like some holly relics is puddle-brain behaviour. The games have a LOT of flaws. My personal biggest gripes was the combat and the story. The combat is easy to criticise. It's very lackluster, there's a "magnetic/bungie" effect that I absolutely hate and those that played them know what I mean, the combos are gone. Like you can launch oponents into the air, but you can't follow up and I don't know why. Why did they take away Kratos's jumps? Why did they take away platforming as a whole? There is literally no more platforming. No climbing walls and fighting off enemies, no jumping in the air and unleashing attacks that make my brain cum from dopamine rushes, no more smart puzzles also. Like there's a lot missing that I think was quintessential to the GoW identity. Anyways, to finish off with the combat, the camera. Hollyshit. The camera. Wow. I don't understand how people went through the game without getting infuriated because the camera choice is easelly the worst thing about the new games. Why is the camera so up Kratos's ass? Why did they get rid of the more wide view so you can deal with enemies more logically and actually enjoy the fight? They give you these little dumb arrows to warn you of an enemy attack or you have to listen to the constant dialogue of characters warning you about enemy attacks. They could've kept the over the shoulder camera for story moments and engaged the wide camera for combat. But no. They decided to "innovate". And their idea of "innovation" is to stick a shooter-game camera angle into a brawling game. But enough of the combat. The story. My god. What the fuck happened. I hate people praising the story because there is no story. They factually ditched the story. And this is not a lie or hate. They actually fucking ditched the story because they didn't want to get stuck making GoW for years. And there are interviews about this. It's not refutable. And I understand where Santa Monica is coming from. Getting creator's burn can take a toll on the quality of what you're trying to make. But that doesn't justify the complete 180 they did in Ragnarok. I mean, hollyshit. Ragnarok moves at break neck speed. It speedruns itself. It doesn't want to drag on or even exist. It wants to be over and done with. All that hype in the first new GoW thrown down the poop shoot because they got cold feet. And that's not right. I can't forgive that. At it's because of the hype. You commit or you don't. You don't quit hallfway because it's in bad taste and just generally feels like a "fuck you". Atreus might as well never have been Loki (which honestly I holeheartedly feel like. Atreus and Loki should have never been the same). The stupid prophecy got the empty fart treatement. "Oh but it's a prophecy and they changed it because they went against fate and blah blah blah". No. That's not how it works. That's literally some Disney level logic. Kratos spent five fucking games going against destiny and the Fates. He dies three times. The new games have absolutelly no consequences (aside from Brok lmao). They CONVENIENTLY find a new prophecy that negates all other prophecies, particularly the one of Kratos dying. The Norns are literally just there. Like, what a waste of characters. They accomplish absolutelly nothing and if you take the whole Norns segment away, nothing changes. Anyways, Kratos doesn't die like the mural said he would, there's no timetravel like it was implied was gonna happen, the final battle is a wet fart of an event when it should've been easelly most of the game, Loki just breaks the mask and fuck it all. Santa Monica just decided to ditch everything that makes GoW great to give us a fucking familly drama. Like I don't want this. I didn't ask for this. I don't need my favorite slasher/beat ehm up turned into a psychological fatherhood evaluation story. I already deal with real life familly conflicts. I like games because they take me away from life's bullshit. Like literally the entire Ragnarok story is just fathers and mothers sucking at parenthood (Freya is a pos btw. Redemption or not, she fucked over Baldr and her anger towards Kratos and Atreus killing him is insane and completelly unjustified since it is factually her fault to begin with and they were acting out of self-defense. Had Kratos let Baldr kill Freya, Odin would've probably gotten intel about Kratos and Atreus once Baldr returned to Asgard and followed up on eliminating Kratos and kidnaping Atreus) and Kratos being completelly out of character. I cannot fathom what line of thought came across the idiot that decided Kratos should be "stoic" and not want to kill gods anymore, but wow. What a sad person Kratos is now. And don't give me that "he made peace and is now not angry" bullshit because there's a huge difference between killing out of anger/hatred and killing out of self defense/protecting your loved ones. There is absolutelly no reason for Kratos to not have gone ham on any of the gods. They all wanted to kill him and Atreus. He's a dad. That's his son. Any father/mother would understand when I say if anything threatens my child, I would go complete monster mode on that threat. When you're killing Heimdall and Mimir tries to talk you out of it, that really pissed me off. Had I had the option, I would've thrown that talking head off a cliff. Heimdall literally threatened to kill Atreus. Heimdall is extremelly dangerous. Like, what the fuck am I suppossed to do, Mimir? Let him live so he can return to Odin and regroup and come back stronger? Kratos not going full force on Thor at the beggining was massivelly stupid also. Odin is with Atreus, his son, alone. What reason is there for Kratos to not go full dad mode and explode Thor with the strength that lifted the nine realms? It would've been more logical if it was both Thor and Odin at the same time and they would've overwhelmed Kratos togeather instead of Thor just leaving after he gets punched really hard. That was dumb. Ragnarok is a dumb game. It really is. And you can enjoy it regardless. There's a lot to love in spite of its short comings and I understand people that like the games because they are not bad games. They're good game. That being said, the games are absolutelly not game of the year material. Both games, in fact, are overhyped. Like I said, they're not bad games, but they did nothing new or "innvative" and pale in comparison to other contemporary games that offer so much more content and replayability. And this is my true biggest lament about the new games. I have replayed the old games so many time. So many many times. In fact, there's a shit load of games I replay often and always get the itch to jump back in. Yet, I have replayed GoW and GoW Ragnarok exactly one time each. And I don't feel the urge to revisit or replay them. Take that as you will. Anyways, that's my honest rant as a gamer. They're not bad games, but they missed out on being god-tier games. Also, Cory Barlog is full of shit when saying old Kratos is stronger than young Kratos. It's like Invincible's creator saying Mark can take on Superman (for those who don't know, Superman can bench press a planet). Cory did not create Kratos. In fact, he played The Last of us and literally liked it so much he decided to copy the homework but with Kratos. This is also a fact and also in an interview.
No it's just flawed
This game was a tremendous piece of shit. The only thing it improved on from 2018 was the combat. The writing, the characters and the story are bottom of the barrel.
But (hopefully) if there's one thing we can all agree on, it's that Bear Mcreary cooked with this ost
11:39 the star wars extended universe in a nutshell
And it is.
I thought this was an under the mayo response vid lol
The pacing towards the end could have been better but odins boss fight also showed who he was when he used the books and scrolls to attack you which was amazing
U could make a vid like this about ghost of tsushima
It has shit pacing because it is boring as fuck, and I didn’t had this problem with the first one or any other good game with good story, being a story focused game is not an excuse, you can have good storytelling without making the player fall asleep with a walking simulator, I have seen better stories in silence than this exposition dump.
Exploration was ass as well, even worse when they lock that entire exploration with an endgame weapon making exploration feel meaningless and tiresome until you get the thing.
This is a 6 or 7/10 for me. It feels like a masterpiece but it has way too many issues.
It just sucks
Why is there so many damn combat encounters, it’s the game way too long
5:06 Sif doesn't want Thrud to be involved in training and violence because Odin will manipulate and control her. Sif saw it from not only for Thor, but for her sons Magni and Modi. Which led to their deaths
Well buddy your the idiot here saying this bs game is good💀
9:57 from start to finish (wanting to have sex with Lady sith) All I can say is WHAT THE F***
The second Thor fight was so underwhelming
My take is this. God of war Ragnarok had HIGH expectations placed on it and it didn't meet enough of those expectations for SOME people and to an extent I can understand where some of those criticism come from after replaying the game multiple times.
For example when they say the fight with Thor feels underwhelming? I sort of get it because when you think about it for a moment and really break down how that fight goes a lot of things start to not make sense and the spectacle of the fight could've been heightened a bit if you ask me.
How you ask? Well we know the world serpent is supposed to be involved in this battle and during this time there is still a version of the big snake around even after the young one gets sent to the past.
Imagine fighting Thor and you have the world serpent as a runic summon or a companion in the fight to spit venom/poison at Thor to weaken him.
While I understand the reason we don't get to use the hammer? It's still a let down for a lot of fans that we didn't get to use it and keep in mind this is coming from someone who is loves the Druapnir Spear as a weapon and what it represents.
God of war Ragnarok is still a damn good game however the criticisms that are actually well thought out do have some validity
Cope seethe & mald
0:02 that t shirt is better than whole tlou ragnarok
Game has great graphics therefore story good.
The game was shit. You can list its problems for hours. I don’t know why every good graphics emotional games like these always come with the most deluded defenders. I’m actually more concerned and interested in discussing why that is than I am explaining why this game is shit (which any good faith fan would have noticed and had issues with on their first or any other playthrough)
"Tyr is the norse version of Kratos"
That guy payed no attention to anything, if something isn't exploding every five seconds with Subway Surfer playing on the background, he can't focus! ADHD is not an excuse
The game sucks. Here is what I don’t get. In the past if a video game had a bad camera then it would be considered bad, but for some reason this game gets a pass. The god if war is supposed to be a actin game not a survival horror game. For people who don’t know the camera being so close to the character is made in survival horror games because not being able to see what’s behind you is supposed to scare you. This game camera makes the game borderline unplayable and a chore. This game is also to long when it comes to cutscenes. I’m trying to play a video game not have a half a hour cutscene which drags on and on. Another thing the fact everything kills you in 2 or even 1 hit is just awful when you’re damage output is dogshit in comparison. I’m not even talking about the bosses here. This game is mediocre at best.
New sub. Just because of the opening monologue.
For me personally the one thing I don’t like is about the Thor and Odin fights is that they weren’t longer, at least for me I wish that they had made 3 games instead of 2 so that I can experience this story even more and have even more screen time for all the characters
the fact that i never saw the first game and could pick up and understand everything that was happening in the 2nd shows how good the storytelling is. these guys are ridiculous with their takes
I always say let people enjoy things, if a franchise you don't like is popular then it's just not for you, constructive criticism and personal opinions are valid tho.
You don’t have a clue. That’s why you talk so fast.
