Game costs £23 not £27 as mentioned in the video, must be old age or something lol
I normally agree with Mac….but this is one of the few I disagree with him on. Its a fantastic story puzzle game. Its less about the challenge and more about the story and exploration. I normally hate exploring but this world had me searching every corner for everything I could find and learn.
A cat in real life failing at a jump?!? Haven't seen my 2 cats fail jumps
Got it for $20 in Canada and that feels fair
Haha, I love your reviews because they're funny, but I always expect you to veer towards negativity. I sometimes wonder if you actually enjoy gaming! 😅
I love cats, I have a male cat in my home which he is orange like in the game but damn this game got boring real quick, started it, fell down the thing in the cutscene and 10 min later I closed the game and went to play smth else (pirated it of course for testing purposes)
I recently played murdered soul suspect and you can play as a cat 🐈 in that game lol
I just bought it because itll be a good "wind down" game for me after i get off work or dont want to deal with the hectiveness of Cod, siege or for honor.
My cats have also never failed a jump lol
Frikkin' boring game, really can't understand why this gets so many high ratings, maybe because it wasn't hyped up that much before it came out? i really don't get it…
Almost fell to sleep while watching the gameplay and yet people wanted this to be the game of the year LOL
I hate cats but this is a good game. Cats suck though.
Majority of people liking the game never own or specially like cats. It is false don't fall for that . Cat can't fail jump except like in the beginning of the game so making this about "jump don't fail" would be ridicules for what game is. Why men don't fall in some game with humans. You want simulation of moving not step challenge . Prompts are optional . Game achieved masterful everything set to be especially cat motion and jumping but most importantly atmosphere and robot-npc story and context of the world delivery . If anybody is interested orange cats are always male so this is a boy .
I had hoped that it would be done more in the manner of Journey, which also is a little light on length and gameplay but gives you the feeling of making your own choices and not being hand-held. I'll probably give it a go anyway.
They should have done the Valhalla assassin thingy where you have to press space at the correct time to make a difficult jump and then give you 9 lives to get through a level.
Yes, Mack well said. I had to turn off the hints as that's crazy and looks crap. I think that they should have made that you can't fail jumps for an easy setting in the game for those who want to just check out the story. On Normal, you could then fail jumps, therefore, adding tension and reward to the platforming. I think this game is a very slow starter. I enjoyed it because I love Cats and also I loved the neon look of the city. Biggest of all it runs on my GT730 which is a million-year-old graphics card lol, weird to find a new release that works ok on some ancient hardware
The game is gorgeous, has fantastic ambiance, fun pizzles, beautiful music and graphics that bag for a photo mode. Reminded me a lot of Limbo/Inside. I had loads of fun playing this, and can't wait for a sequel.
The funny thing is what Yahtzee said about this game: It's not the 'cyber adventure and horror'/'thriller' game. It's "The cat game". You play as an adorable little cat and you get to watch yourself curl and have a little 'shleepy'.
I'll probably play it in a few years on gamepass eventually maybe, definitely not gonna go out and buy this unless it's like $10 or so
I quite like this game and I'm enjoying the story. Just wish it was a bit more challenging
😃😃😃It is really funny, 4 weeks ago I was at my daughter and her husband's home and Greg (her husband) was playing this game and I was so surprised at how funny it was. So then I bought it on the PlayStation! And I am now so so happy that I have this game, even though 98% of my games are Lego and Big Fish games. But I am so so so loving this very funny game, especially since I have 6 of my own cats!
Depends on what you would expect, it's basically a chill game difficulty-wise ,but an emotional one nonetheless . (If you're expecting a platformer soulslike difficulty then this game isn't for you)
However if you're looking for a relaxed game with a decent story (similar to telltale games) then this game is for you. The advantage of a telltale game over this one is the choice mechanics (even when they may not matter in the long run). On the other hand, this game offers way more exploration than telltale games.
This game also reminds me of Life is Strange 3 ,why 3 and not 1or2 ?, because of the gameplay length, LIS3 is the shortest of the LIS-es games and this game could be speedruned in 2 hours or less.
So manage your expectations.
NOTE: I bought the game for full price (about 25$) to maximum support the developers ,however, you could wait for a sale if short gameplay hours is a NO-NO for you.
This game would be fucking terrible without the "autojump" XD
I'm quite enjoying this, defo a marmite game
There are Dog People and there are sociopaths – hikeskool, 2022 have a Blessed weekend all 👌
Meh, it's on PS Plus Extra for 11 quid a month.
the trigger jump made me not buy it. it's such an absolutely atrocious idea
great review !
This looks so dumb tho
And that's barely how a cat runs actually. They just sort of curl their tail up a bit, not stretch their whole bodies like a dog or a cheetah.
I've just completed it on PS5, very average! It looks nice etc but apart from the cat, I hated every other character & they all sound the same when they talk! I found that the most painful element of the game! It's not a talking voice, it literally sounds like mobaloba mobaloba, mobaloba, mobaloba when they speak & when translated means find matey with the bomber jacket in the aisle because he might have a better game for you to play! lol.
Shame this game looked like it could have been interesting if it hadnt been so easy as you say. Games are just trying to become interactive movies with no challenge or reward. Had this been made in PS2 era it would have been great
HAHA pro's: Meow lol
I disagree. I really liked how the story unveiled itself. I felt it was mysterious, it leaves a lot to be thought about. I like how the robots seemingly evolved on their own to have their own "personalities". I think its endearing the way the robots interact with the cat. B-12 is great! B-12 has a cool twist as well. I thought the ending was good.. Never had any issued running on a 2080ti 4k 60fps. Its a casual story game. Failing jumps doesnt need to be there.
Catalepsy warning: This game can induce catastrophic catatonia.
I love it. It might be a bit clunky but it's totally different. After 35 years of gaming I'm really starting to get bored of gaming. Every shooter with its waves of no name enemies to blam down, every rpg with the endless menus of potions, magic and spells. Its all becoming a bit… Boring. This and what remains of Edith finch has kept my Ps5 relevant in my life for at least a very short while longer. It was starting to get dusty…
I'm quite enjoying this game on the PS4. The jumping mechanic was quite a surprise, but a welcome one to be honest. The reason I often give up with platformers, is the frustration of miss-timed jumps and having to do the same bit over and over again.
25 euro for and 5 hours game only works if it is a game with cats or dogs. Cute dogs and cats sell……
Any other 5 hours game would likely have been trashed by users.
I'm seeing a concerningly large push for this to be GOTY in social media…people saying the story is "deep" and "it's more than just a cat game" and that the gameplay is great.
Seems like people love games that play themselves lmao
I think a few of the negative criticicme is a bit unfair, just cuz the game does not behave how you want it to be dont mean that should be taken as a negative towards the final score.
Id say thats like me giving a more realistic driving game like Forza a bad review cuz its not more like Burnout/NeedforSpeed (the way i prefer my car games)
I think that the Stray developers wanted to have more focus on telling a story and immersion/atmosphere than platforming and if you take the game for what its trying to be i think it does that splendely, 8/10
Nice review brah
I think it's a fun little time waster. Not some shining example of game design and is overpriced for what it is
But I like messing around in it
walking sim where main character is a cat . sales go wild .. im lost … wot ?!
I'm a cat lover, and I lost interest without even playing for an hour. Cat cuteness can only take you so far. This is a basic puzzle platformer that takes place in a basic cyberpunk setting and it's worth about a third of the current asking price which is likely what it will cost during this year's Steam holiday sale.
"Game ran perfect"
Meanwhile in the video there is screen tearing, choppiness and frame drops.
I think Big Mac has lost it.
Why are steam reviews so positive?
Love you Mack, but this was my best gaming experience since Half-Life Alyx.
the only honest reviewer,
thank you for doing this, mac.
