I’ve been very critical of The Callisto Protocol in this review, but I’d be lying if I said I didn’t have fun with the game.

I liked it and appreciate it seeing as we arent getting a Dead Space 4 any time soon. If you like Dead Space I just dont see how can NOT like this game (albeit its not as good storywise)
why so much hate for this game its a gorgeous game must try i give it a 8.5
I think it's a very good game and I thoroughly enjoyed playing it. I'm annoyed at myself for delaying buying it because I was put off by the unfounded negative reviews of it.
I just started it since it's free with PS+. I'm a big fan of the Dead Space series and I was really looking forward to the game, only to be disappointed with the reviews. That being said, I'm 2 hours in and it's pretty fun. I just put it on easy mode since I didn't want to invest too much effort into difficulty, but rather just enjoy the scenery. The combat is actually pretty fun because it's a different type of combat. Kind of reminds me of those swipe games that were on the iPad back in the day.
It's a great game not perfect but good not worth full retail but is any game release worth full retail these days. I got it for 16 quid new bargain.
I don't know but the game never managed to grab me or set up a proper horror atmosphere.
You crash land on a planet, your partner dies, you get arrested, implanted with some stuff and then suddenly there is a mass prison riot with monsters and the warden is some psycho and Jacob immediately befriends some guy he just me. It all felt so rushed, we never got to see the prison proper the way it functions and there was no real buildup. Oh, and right at the start they throw in the most obvious fake out dream jumpscare with a character we don't really know.
Compare that to the first Dead Space which slowly built its momentum. You get a distress message from your girlfriend, you crash onto a ship and find it abandoned. Suddenly monsters appear, you go deeper into the ship, more monsters, more distress messages, a guy smashes his head on a wall until he dies. Everything is either full of corpses, crazy people, monsters or outright abandoned. The deeper you go into the ship, the more vicious and horrfying the monsters become and the more you see what horrors really happen on the ship and what actually is happening here.
Callisto Protocol was just so loud and bombastic in its beginning and barely took time to set the tone.
So, I finished, and this is my impression. So 60 or 70 %of game is great, and then someone or did not have money or wish to to finish game.
What is good: graphics, gameplay, atmosphere, you have wish to sit and play, fights are good, especially with that stick or what is.
But, bad things are really bad: it's not scary at all, on moderate level is way to easy. Biggest problem is thar everything is same, same, you all the time waiting that opponents will change, atmosphere, environment, but not…… Everything is same and when you realise that you are on the end of the game, it's big disappointment. Also credit that you collect during a road is not enough to complitelly explore weapons. On the end you complitelly upgrade some of the weapons but, it's end of the game 🙄🙄🙄🙄
When compare for example with evil within 1 or 2….omg its so far away.
On conclusion, if you don't have anything better buy, but if you thinking to buy or not, don't spend money. Pity, so big potential.
This is an amazing game I don't care what anyone says. I know that the generations today that play video games don't deserve anything all they do is complain. It's really a shame to think that eventually good video games won't be made anymore because of peoples reviews. It was far better than cyberpunk and runs 10 times better on a PS5.
cũng là game có denuvo giống dead space remake đấy, nhưng sao tao thấy game này nó lạ lắm, bọn dev game này là cha đẻ của dead space tưởng thế nào, hoá ra làm game như sh…iiittt
It's really not a disappointment at all. Does it have some issues? Sure. But it's fun as hell, the sound and art design is immaculate, and more.
Callisto Protocol is great marks
I finished the game yesterday and I must say while it has a lot of weak points it is stunning to look at. But, looks are not everything and game play is essential – The game play really showed it's weakest point at the very end of the final boss fight. Hell, it was frustrating and so repetitive to it's core. Still, I hope the developers build on it and most of it 'learn from it ' – I don't think the game was worth the money but I bought it fo support the game dev. team. I would give Callisto one more chance with the hope for a way better game play experience.
I think you're nitpicking too much with the linear style of exploration and storytelling. was this game at all advertised as exploration-focused?
Everyone badmouthing this game just needs to shut up and take their heads out of their asses 🙃
I loved tha game great horror flick . Media garbage dispersal system keep rolling . When an idiot on a site like GameSpot says something people think its words are the end of all .lol geat game loved it waiting for new game plus
If You don't play this game, your missing out on very different combat system for a video game. IT's fun as hell to bash these guys in. Never got tired of it. Watching these videos, making me want to do it again with the sound up
It's good, maybe even very good, but not quite great. The dodge mechanic is the wrong type of dodgy, barely functional if you get more than a single enemy on screen. But it's a solid first outing, almost something there, a sequel could really be great.
Feel like they needed to just implement the baton as a blocking tool and a stun/create distance between you and enemy but dealing minor damage. I enjoyed 90% of the game but a few of the boss fights were frustrating as hell.
Great story , great gameplay , great visuals and the lore if you discovered all the audio logs is 🔥
Some reviewers said the dodging isn't even direction dependent – just hold the stick either way and you will auto dodge correctly. 🙄
Not enough playtesting. Not enough audience polling. Not enough to separate it from influence. Not enough to make it unique or challenging. Just not enough time spent to figure out what works and what doesn't. Rushed product is a rushed product. And pandering to casual gameplay don't make an experience horror
This game is atleast an 8/10, you haven’t given the game enough credit. the game looks amazing and has a great story and the motion capture is awesome. Reason for the blandish setting is because a lot of it is set in a run down prison. This is the sort of reviewer who will give a cash grab like the dead space remake a 10/10 even tho is based of the old system …what a joke
My biggest issue of the game is how Jacob is pretty much never scared the entire time. He’s like “shit!” When a jump scare happens, but you don’t feel the fear through his character, extremely mid.
Anyone else on PS4 slim background and graphics don't load properly ?
bull shit, fantastic from start to finish, don't know why critics are bitching so much
Easily the most exhausting, tedious, enraging gameplay of my life. 75$
So wait a minute; GOW: Ragnarok gets all this credit because it's an action game but the entire game is bloated with tedious incessant dialogue, crawling under spaces, sliding through gaps, backtracking, excessive chest opening, and miles and miles of unnecessary jogging without enemies but Callisto Protocol is a disappointment because it's an action thriller game and it does exactly what it's supposed to do without all of the empty filler?
The combat in this game made me delete the game once I got to the final boss. It’s only worth it for the first 6 chapters
Damn I thought it was a great game… just wanted to see reviews but coming across them I’m seeing too many different opinions but in the end I thing it’s better not to buy it
Funny how the " hate generation, don't like anything" just wanna rant everything … No its not an open world game like everything kids are used to these days , it's Linear just like dead space 1 was and most of single player games used to be and still are but generation these days are used to MP/non story SP linear games and complains when something is not way they are used to , yes the game is unfinished and needs patches and that is unforgiving in todays gaming industry but the game itself ain't bad , the mechanics needs to get used to etc but just like SP linear games old school as Dead Space was etc this isn't bad in a sense bad game , if you like SP games and the old dead space games etc this is a blast to play through on a console though ,PC needs to be fixed even more . Don't jump on the hate campaign just to hate a game that ain't bad as a sp linear game , play it before judgement after what its supposed to be .
you are being unfair and you even admit it but you still stick to it being a bad game, its not, its a basic package with no frills as they are a small indi studio and they are going to build on it, in fact the only thing stopping that from happening is the unfair reviews, considering they are a small indi company i think they have done an exellent job.
The only thing disappointing is this review.
I had no problems with multiple enemies that’s the funnest part of Callisto to me it pushes you but not everyone wants to be pushed melee mixed with grp and guns it was a blast being surrounded every gun felt great and you can play the entire game dam near shooting I loved this game but it’s not for everyone it’s striking distances first IP if they make a sequel I would expect a even better experience
Dead space 2 is on gamepass, play that instead as it's a much better game, now updated to 60fps on series consoles.
It's a buy on sale during a gaming drought sort of game,it's not that bad, just doesn't live up to the hype.
The Callisto letdown.
