3:09 BRO I DONT THINK THATS CHRIS PRATT TBH 😭😭 I got jumpscared when i saw this random ass guy
Everybody let’s call Chris Pratt the Mario guy 💀
why does he say may-rio
Bruh why does he pronounce Mario like that
we all know that classic mario line “here we come”
I love the difference between this and his actual review of the movie.
I'm very late, but after hearing youtuber VA Jehtt do a perfect Toad voiceover for Keegan-Michael Key my expectaions were just way too high for Toad. For Mario I'm not surprised they went the Italian-American route, mostly because I remember watching the cartoons as a kid and they had NY accents and enjoyed Olive Garden-esque meals so-
They're attempting to white wash Mario's rich Italian/Japanese history wow, devastating
It's been a life long dream of mine to become an Italian plumber from New York named Mario that's the mascot of a multinational Japanese corporation, when I was a child that's all I could think about
you look like ed kemper
Damn you look like General Sams brother lol
At the beginning of the video he pronounced it mayor-io and at the end of the video he pronounces it Mario
MAYRIO?????
YOU LOOK LIKE THE FURHEHRHR MY GUY LNFAO NAHH
Wait a minute……….. your a man?
The original guy's voice is modulated just for the woohoos and aws of the video game. This is a movie that has somehow deep dialogues and lines, imagine the high pitch original voice doing that. It's gonna be horrible. Chris Pratt is perfect for this.
I hear every body hating on Chris Pratt as Mario but think about it, the original Mario voice is ok for 2 sentences max before it gets obnoxious. iTs A mE a MaRiO! For a 2Hour movie is straight up hard to listen to in my opinion.I personally like Chris Pratts version and how it toned down the classic Italian voice crack.
I hate how literally everyone expected Chis Pratt to go on a full idiotic, stereotypical Italian accent. A Brooklyn/New York accent for Mario not only does make sense in a way to just not make the whole film feel like a clown-made, dumpster fire, but it also makes sense historically, as half of new york is, at least, part Italian, and the rest of the people know, at least someone that in the last one or two generations had Italian immigrant relatives, so are part Italian.
Also, I would've not liked for Chris to give Mario a maccheronic (actual Italian) accent because… it just sounds bad. Like, straight up. Sounds terrible. Also, it's fucking difficult for a person of a native language to switch their native accent to something external, like, for example, an Italian who grew up in Italy and for some reason gets an English accent; like, that only happens when you've been away from your country for countless years and haven't listened to your native language enough that you're literally starting to loose it.
I'm saying this as an Italian person.
Was the change in pronunciation intentional?
Wow that Pratt segment seemed really half hearted and forced lmao. Why does he seem so uninterested?
I love the look of the trailer, and I love Mario's voice.
You all know the classic line
It's a me, Mary-o
I think the “here we go” with no energy, brought me out of the immersion. Like I think I’d like the movie but it would be hard to be engaged in if he can’t at least bring more energy to the voice if he can’t do the Italian accent.
I mean those penguins are Mario penguins
Despite everything, Jack Black was fucking PERFECT.
Everything else, however, is dubious.
But I'll watch it for Jack Black alone.
San what its it named? oh San Deago
HERE WE CoMe. why, just why. GO say frigin GO
Your interpretation of Miyamoto picking Pratt himself I fervently believe.
Good night mr tom
Most of the other voices are fairly alright tbh. I think the Linda Belcher Mario is pretty bad by comparison to expectations, which I think is going to ruin it since he's the main character. By comparison, no one's going to care about the voice of Piranha plant #35, but a lot of people are going to care more for the voice of Mario being done right. Nintendo's crossing a very fine line there.
In my opinion, they didn't need the publicity of having an actor that has done some voice work, especially for a main character that people will scrutinize. Jack Black has done voice acting for like 14-15 years since Kung Fu Panda and the difference between how people do not talk much about Bowser's voice acting by comparison really speaks to that since it seems not as many people have an issue with it. If they went with someone who primarily focuses on voice acting, or at least has more of a foothold in voice acting than 5 years, 2.1 of which includes Covid-19 years, I would be a lot happier than a celebrity name in the credits just for the sake of it.
Last thing, but… Penguins are in Super Mario 64, in that same coloration as well (only more polygonal).
your take on the sonic movies is great 🤣
It'd be fun if they got some Italian-American cameos like Joe Pesci or someone else who's in Scorcese movies.
Really wish they took him to be more Brooklyn Italian-American. I feel like this Mario is going to be fish-out-of-water normal guy who unveils his actiony side as the movie goes on, instead of Italian American plumber just going with it and being all "ayyy I'm stompin on goombas ova here"
You can't stomp koopas in the original Mario Bros arcade game. You had to hit the underside of the platform to flip them over. Chris Pratt is a deceitful little man
crispy rat
I mean Mario has always been from brooklyn. A lot of people are just having cope with the fact that he is an italian american from brooklyn fixing pipes. he is still italian but just a very toned down guido. i think they had charles for marios voice because having an aggressive italian man would make parents not want to buy their kids mario games. i think this movie is a way for miyamoto to remind everyone that mario isnt from "the main land" (italy).
fun fact: none of the people complaining about the movie are the target audience. The target audience is children who couldn't care less what mario sounds like and who find cringy humour funny
Find a Mew Machine. Enough said.
