I kinda wanted to hear a positive take on the DLC so i can give it another shot but idk, it soured my overall thoughts on the game that i actually forgot i enjoyed the base game. Replaying it now ill still give it a chance but this video honestly reminded me the lack of player direction was a real stone wall to this DLC as a whole.
Ok now i am super intrested
Just got the CD soundtrack for this games 3rd update The Final Horizon the mail today at 2:34p.m. and it's the Sonic Frontiers Expansion Soundtrack: Paths Revisited CD and I'm listening to it while watching this! 5:35p.m. 12/19/2023
I've played a lot of hard games, but this DLC feels more frustrating than hard. I don't like the new cyber spaces, it gets so confusing with how much you have to do. Before, you had the red rings and the timer, that's it. The platforming is indeed very precise, but then there's the issue all Sonic games seem to have, the camera is always against you.
I liked the story, but while I liked to 100% the base game, I just powered through the DLC because it was genuinely getting annoying. For me the DLC was a miss, but hey, it was free, so I guess I can't complain too much.
I love it but cant finish the 3 bosses on a row with 400 rings. What the hell are they thinking? The game was amazing except for the stupid 2 trial.
Mania is better
Not satisfying at all.
This game kicked my ass on hard mode, that final boss wasnt so straight forward though. Wasmt aware i was suppose to side step into attack
i love update 3 but im so worried the next game is going to scrap open zone and multiple characters
The Final Horizon and all other updates raised it from a 7/10 to a 9/10
With this DLC, Sonic frontiers has become one of my top five favorite Sonic games ever: being able to play as the main cast again it feels like a love letter to all adventure fans 🤩
The biggest problem for me is that the 2 main points of the DLC were the Playable characters and the new finale. Making it mandatory to go through the most tedious portion of gameplay in any Sonic game ever just to get the ending we should have gotten in the first place seems very petty like "oh the game's too easy? Well here you go fuck you too". If the trials weren't so hard on easy mode or if the trials themselves were extra non mandatory content it would be fine but as it is its an entirely overblown difficulty spike for no good reason.
This DLC anybody else would have SOLD it because of how much content was added! Deserves a 9 or 10 for sure 😀

After this update Frontiers is my favorite 3D Sonic game
That’s bullshit! You can’t nerf Sonic’s stats just to make the trial difficult, that’s a dick move on Kishimotos part. It’s one thing to make it fun difficult but the update is absolutely dickish difficult
The update ended up being meh and I don't think it really improved it at all
Its a pain in the butt and I reckon they made the cameras worse. They are all over the place now.
Ambitious??? LMAO!!!!
I wasn't impresse at all with Frontiers and my love for the franchise die (not si dramaic) I just compare this game to Solar Ash and the game fails.
But final horizon is interesting, it feels like the prelude to something great. Sega, don't do a Sega, nor a nintendo, or worse….a Microsoft
Now only if it just as challenging during the last half of the game 😂
The tower climbing is awful. I can’t count how many time I fell from them. Sometimes Sonic got between 2 dashpad and the collision didn’t work properly, the camera move constently and expects you to react quickly. So I gave up. It’s not fun, it’s just stressful and unfair challenge. The game expects you to do precise platforming even thought the game isn’t build for it.
And besides Amy, the other two characters are a let down for me…
Playing as the other characters just exposed how janky this game is was pretty disappointed with the DLC to be honest
This review is obviously biased. The children's game difficultly spike especially on easy is ridiculous. I can just imagine the amount of kids getting frustrated and upset with the new content. From the hard platforming to annoyingly hard level 1 challenges, boss rushes and jank controls.
I loved this update so much, definitely my favorite sonic game now
Best reviewers out there
By the end of the update my feelings could be summed up as the scene in breaking bad where walt finds out sky gave the money to ted.
hate how the update reset my sonics max stats, half a year or grinding down the drain
