Razer Unveils Advanced Laptop Cooling Pad With Smart Adaptive Technology

As laptops get more powerful, they need better cooling systems to keep them running smoothly. Razer has introduced a smart cooling pad with lots of features to meet the need for better temperature control in laptops. The Laptop Cooling Pad is essentially a laptop stand with an adaptive cooling system that automatically adjusts fan speeds based on the laptop’s temperature—which means it won’t be loud all the time. The pad uses a high-velocity 140mm fan capable of speeds up to 2,550 RPM, housed within an airtight pressure chamber design.

This cooling pad supports laptops from 14 to 18 inches in size. Razer has used three interchangeable magnetic frames to optimize cooling for different laptop dimensions. Based on internal testing, the company claims its design can reduce CPU and GPU temperatures by up to 18%. The pad measures 15.6 by 11.5 by 4.5 inches (39.6 by 29.2 by 11.4 cm) and weighs 3.5 pounds (1.6 kg).

This cooling pad doesn’t just cool, though. This device comes with a three-port USB-A hub to connect other devices, buttons you can set to do different things to control settings, and a dust filter to keep it clean from dirt. The device also has Razer’s trademark Chroma RGB lighting system along the front edge. Options let you create custom fan curves and select from preset cooling profiles available through Razer’s Synapse software.

Just like its functionality and looks, it comes at a premium price of $149.99, which is much higher than many third-party alternatives. Razer is marketing this as a top-quality add-on that works well with their (and other) range of gaming items. It remains to be seen if there’s enough of a market for something like this, and at this price point. But hey, at least your laptop will look like it’s levitating.
