I got the game for £8. Once I tweaked the brightness and black settings I had a much better time with it. I like how the dual sense microphone works as a radio, makes it very immersive. Must suck playing this on Xbox😂
This game was terrible it’s all about gameplay this had absolutely none thank god I never got this when it was expensive.
isnt doing platinum on a game like showing love to it. thats what it meant back in the day lol. nowadays kids doing platinum on games like someone gave them homework? sounds forced and awfull xD
I picked this up from GameStop when they were getting rid of them recently for $5.00. I didn’t love the combat but overall I enjoyed this. They definitely nailed the creepy atmosphere. For me even if this game was a 10/10 at launch I wouldn’t have gotten it at launch. I got a PSVR2, and was waiting for Jedi survivor, RE4, and Zelda TOTK. There just wasn’t enough money to go around. I skipped the dead space remake also, but will pick it up eventually.
Decided to check it out since I got it no extra charge as a PS+ premium member. Sure, it's a promising title but there's too much not polished and refined. It has been a decent experience so far if you walk into it knowing it's rough around the edges.
The one major thing that just blew me away was the sneaky manual save system. Seems like you can save at any point in time, whereas in reality, it's just going to reload your manual save, to the previous checkpoint, which could've been minutes of exploration, battles and cutscenes that you'll have to do over again, because you thought you saved after all those events… What's the point in implementing a manual save system when it's a checkpoint save system instead.
Oh look a brand new ip from well known developers with actual current gen visual and sound design outstanding voice acting lets review bomb the game so they never make another game and we can get more remakes of the same shit we’ve all played over and over again. Can’t satisfy anyone. Then when a remake of a game comes out “they need to come out with new games they keep milking the same game and taking our money, boycott….” It’s the same stupid cycle. Nobody can ever appreciate good art. The game is of very high production value with some issues many of which have been patched up and concerns can always be used for the making of a sequel but nope y’all rather just kill off the game and get more remakes
Combat is so Trash and frustrating I don't recommend the game
This game is awesome don't know what your on about dreamcastguy
Just played the game on Xbox series X, giving this game a 7 is being generous. To me if felt like a 5, and is IMO an unfinished game. I experienced several glitches (even after the update patches), especially when using stealth on enemies using 60 FPS setting. However, my biggest gripe is the lack of any kind of map system. There were parts that I was just wandering around trying to figure out where to go next. I did make it to the end, but not after several frustrating moments, and circling around some of the levels. The jump scares were beyond ridiculous, and predictable after chapter 2. Indeed, the game looks fantastic, but that is about where it ends for the good parts of the game.
The melee could have been better they could have added more melee weapons, if this game was more melee focused why give more ranged weapons and just one melee weapon. Plus why not reveal enemy weak points.
I found the aspects of survival horror to be there. Especially the small inventory early on, essentially forcing you to choose what to pick up and to go head to head melee until you acquire your gun and even then ammo is limited unless you prioritize space for it. The melee+gun combos are great, great ways to finish off an enemy. But the dodge mechanic I have found to be the most fluid and well implemented dodge mechanic ever as you can actually dodge the enemy's hits properly and flow up with beating them to a pull and blowing their head off.
To me this feels like the OG dead space more or less, without the shooting limbs (this is dead space, so no shooting limbs) and I don't miss that. The enemy's are no less or more stupid than zombies in RE2 remake or RE2 remake. Neither of which I found to be scary games. They nailed the environment and the enemy's and the overall feel. It just may not be the game everyone was expecting. I think everyone was expecting more dead space and more resident evil style. The biggest flaw with the game was the PC launch.
I'm currently playing it, and so far… I'm thoroughly enjoying it. Granted, it is a easy game… But, I've gotten to a point with gaming, where I no longer care, too much, if there's a challenge, as long as I'm having fun. And, I've noticed… Games can be very easy, and still be really fun. Gamers have gotten to a strange place… Gamers have just gotten crazy expectations, that can't seem to be met. For crying out loud, now days, if you don't have to devote your entire life, to beating a game, people are complaining. It's just a very different world, in gaming, these days.
This dude always looks and sounds like he's about to cry; and it's weird as shit.
I'm playing the game right now and I'm enjoying it.
It's not amazing — I enjoy the combat loop, although I'm two chapters from the end and combat has sort of outstayed its welcome — but it isn't nearly the dumpster fire I was expecting based on what people were saying about it.
It's the perfect sort of rental/discount game.
Not using the melee/pistol combo mechanic makes the combat a slog and not fun. Getting the combo shots is pretty satisfying actually and it helps move the game along much better. You skipped the main mechanic the game is designed around lol. To me this game is more of a sci-fi episode without the ambition to be something epic. A bit like Call of Duty of horror games, not a Battlefield if you know what I mean. You get on a map smash/shoot things up, sneak up a little and enjoy the scenery:)
I liked the game and enjoyed playing it but I think the game would have been more scary with RE2 mad boss mechanic. Something stalking you, something you couldn't kill and had to avoid and hide from. Or a Visage type thing where the darkness kills.
I clearly don't get why people down play this game so much. Overall the game to me so far is fun. Are the mechanics repetitive? Yes, but all game mechanics are repetitive. Every game has a focal point to a mechanic they are trying to implement, but it is up to the devs to create an experience that you won't tell it's repetitive. Different genres and titles are subjective, but to say one thing when clearly all games share the same thing seems biased to me. I believe most people judge this as an Dead Space title instead of a title of its own that was inspired by Dead Space.
"For 99% of the game you have no idea what's going on?" Well that's funny cuz I thought it was fairly obvious what was going on for pretty much 99% of the time, when I played it over Christmas. It reminded me of Alien 3 crossed with The Thing. The enemy's in Dead Space weren't exactly that games most memorable feature either. All they did was jump out and run at you pretty much the same as in Callisto Protocol, except you have more melee options. Your review seems a little harsh.
Some people get off by being exceptionally critical to boost their ego and perception of themselves as sone sort of superior intellect if a particular topic I see this all the time when it comes to sone one critiquing sone one’s taste in music movies and that’s goes fro games as well I think it is better to let a game speak for it selfs if it is good it will sale if it appeals to a large enough crowd it will succeed but these critics seem to have the power to destroy a lot of good games I bet many get payed by competitors to teardown games by rival companies. Smh
Your review sucks this game was awesome. And nothing is perfect but this game has been very thrilling to play. Great suspense great visuals and tension building with the sounds.
Even though I enjoy the combat, a fighting-based survival horror game was always gonna be a bad idea.
The game is really cool.
Solid 8/10
Darn! I was more hyped for this than the new Dead Space remake… I was really trying to get into the gameplay loop and trying to justify my purchase… but the more I played, the more I just got bored and dropped it. Here’s hoping Dead Space will be better.
I feel having ng+ at launch would have made this game better
I guarantee He saw other reviews, and played the game as follows: makes awful upgrade selections, never even bothers to learn the combat and dodge system, zero strategy-just runs into every open area full of enemies then complains when he gets swarmed. And btw, looking down instead of paying attention then getting attacked, is not a "jumpscare". Bad take, the game is awesome. Patch on the 15th fixed basically everything. Easy 9/10
I hate this game! 7/10
Ray tracing wasn't working on Xbox it had frame rate issues what a mess to launch a game needed more time to polish.
I disagree. Not every game has to be an open-world, 100 hour, marathon to brag that you finished.
Damn dude your a scrub yo
Dreamcast guy, I'm a fan and I'll never say anything bad about you, but you lost me where you said this game is a brawler and you just bash people in the face. It fits the environment, if you were in Jacob situation, wouldn't you want to bash these monstrosities in the face? When you want guns also? I absolutely love how you can go from bashing to shooting so quickly. I don't know why everyone hates this game I just finished it and I wouldn't necessarily call it a masterpiece, but it was fun as hell 💯
I feel like they abandoned guns because they couldn't be bothered making a linger game and it would've been done in an hour without the boring ass melee
This was such a great game after the much I was on the edge of my seat the entire game!
Talking about graffiti on the wall that’s petty to another level
I didn't know video games needed to actually explain anything.
Games like this are the reason why some companies need to administer iq tests for their developers
Everyone is being way too generous with this game. This is game is complete garbage and the worst game I have played in 2022. The story is the least of the game's problems. If it had the same story with decent gameplay, I could still enjoy it. The combat is trash.
