Bruh, time dilation happens for the moving mass. If you are moving away from Earth at the speed of light (very near) time behind you slows down, you see the Earth get big and red shifted as all motion seems to stop and it just redshifts to blackness as the number of photons hitting you exponentially reduces from your POV. So the time it takes you to accelerate to 99.999999999999% light speed from Earths POV if you accelerate at 9.8m/s^2 is just the speed of light 299,792,458m/s divided by 9.8m/s^2 which is 30,591,067s which is a little less than a year roughly. So from Earths POV about a year to get to C'ish a year to decelerate from C at the edge of the universe a year to reaccelerate back towards Earth and a year to decel back at Earth means the time it would take from the Earths POV for a ship to make the journey however far at C in "rocket time" is just a bit less than 4 years + whatever distance you traveled at C. So if you go 10 billion light years before you turn then come back, a total of 20bil light years then the trip from Earth's POV would be 20billion + 4ish years. However, dt' = dt/sqrt(v^2/c^2) for object moving away from Earth so at 99.9999999999% every month on Earth would be 3.71sec on the space ship, every year 44.61sec on the pace ship 20 billion years = 20bilYr*44.61sec = 892200000000sec which we divide by the seconds per yr (roughly 31,540,000sec) yielding about 28,288 years of time passing on the ship give or take an extra 4 years for accel and decel. But just a few 9's to that percent can take us down to a few seconds to cross the entire universe or 20 billion LY or whatever you want. So from a ships perspective you can get anywhere in 4-5 years theoretically, if you have infinite energy and a way to deal with linear relativistic frame dragging etc. Once relativistic effects kick in your rocket now deals with that as well, 1sec to you is 1 sec to your rocket too, therefore if time is dilated 1/100,000 then so is the total thrust when viewed from a stationary observer. So 1g of accel to the spacecraft at 99.968745% the speed of light looks like 1/40th of a g to stationary observers, 1g accel at 99.9991% C looks like 1/247th of a g of acceleration in a stationary frame, so there is some integral involving the inverse of the ratio of time dilation*sec to some weird power, but you get the the over arching structure. At some point time is so dilated even though you're still in your ship at 1g, in the stationary rest frame you're whizzing by at 99.99999999999999999999999999% C and you're only emitting a couple photons a sec from your engine and you could cross 10 universes before accelerating a millionth of a meter per sec more. But all of that is to say no, you can not travel to the edge of the universe and back faster than the speed of light from Earths perspective. Oh, yeah I said Earth would slow and redshift as you accelerate away but time in front of you would appear to speed up, when you decel and turn around and you had a really good telescope you'd see Earth as it was about a year after you left it and when you accel back towards Earth you'd see time on Earth speed up by the inverse of dt/sqrt(v^2/c^2) as Earth would age 20bil yr as you travel back 10 bil light years to Earth in only approximately 1yr of spaceship time. It's pretty simple and pretty hard at the same time. Oh also also, all those photons/particles etc. coming at you from the front would have their energy multiplied by that same number so yeah, your ship would be vaporized, even radio waves would start looking like gamma rays and higher energy photons would straight up be creating matter in your spaceship and it would look more like the big bang in front of you than empty space. So you're cooked metaphorically, fucking hella vaporized literally, not really that viable LMAO. You don't even need to hit space rocks, just low energy radio waves (in the stationary ref frame) can/will rip you apart at those speeds.

I thought this guy was full of shit from the beginning. Traveling at the speed of light for 25 years doesn't mean 100,000 years has gone by on Earth. Traveling at the speed of light means that time stops for the person traveling at that speed. This means after 25 years when they finally stop, they will be the same age when they left. Everybody back on Earth will be 25 years older. Where the hell does he get that 100,000 years will have gone by in the 25 years the person has traveled at the speed of light. This is absolutely ridiculous

This is ridiculous because the mathematics are simple. If the man was gone for 15 minutes but when he came back, he’d been gone for five days then work out the mathematics of the difference between 15 minutes and five days and you will know how fast the UFO was going. Then we would know how fast you need to go.

If we could travel back in time people would just travel back further and further and further changing the present so that the people in the future who came back to the present would come back to a different present or may not even exist. How's that going to work?

Imagine light that is travelling away from a black hole, gets sucked into a black hole in reverse direction to which the light was travelling , and at a greater than the speed of light… would anything crazy happen once the speed of light is breached? ..and what would be happening to time on the light omitting object relative to say the ‘centre’ of the black hole, and relative to the far periphery.?

I’m even more curious about lateral time travel more so than the conventional <——> non-linear time, very few discuss this, when speaking about this technology.
