The scientist makes the mistake a lot of scientists make in reference to time. For a being that lives for a million years, 16 days might be the blink of an eye. Just like scientists make the assumption that beings can’t travel the long distances in space because of the time required. We literally have no idea the time scale of other creatures in the universe. All we can do is make assumptions based on what we know about life on our planet, but they are assumptions all the same. When we take time out of the equation, speed and distance don’t matter.
