From my experience playing the game I found less issue with story & pacing than you did, but had the same issues with getting surrounded during combat though I do like the camera location & just wish other techniques were used to emphasize when attacks are coming from off screen.
However my primary issue while playing the game & what ultimately ruined a lot of my enjoyment, was the things designed to fit PS4 load times & hide loading on that console. For reference I played in PS5 & at launch, but the amount of areas where I had to lift a boulder or crouch through a spot which clearly was designed with a length to allow the game to fit on a PS4 just drove me nuts. It felt like having an addition 3-4 hours (my friend & I timed it during our play throughs) added simply because the game was originally or additionally designed for outdated hardware.
This would've been less of an issue for me if the game had launched closer to the PS5 launch, but by the time the game came out I was hoping that extra time meant we'd get a version made for PS5 in more ways than just graphics settings & framerate. Ultimately I wished it was a showcase for my new console & not a ported swan song for the previous generation.
However I do agree that this game should've been made into 2 games & maybe had the middle game be cross Gen while a third would be PS5 exclusive. I felt the same way about Last Of Us Part 2 as well.
