Loved this show !
I always remember watching ufo around 6 pm Saturday in the Granada television region. So I was Surprised to hear a couple of actresses talk about late night broadcasts of UFO.
Why do such good shows never last, even today its would be relevent?
Growing up Gerry Anderson plaiod a big part and gave me so much imagination, that today gives me advantages,
Thanks for all the memories to all of them? i still dram of having a citron gull wing car.
Lady at 21:15 talkin smack about Uhura from Star Trek….yeah but ST went beyond ONE season…………………………………..bha!
Wow! What amazing remembers!! That womens were the best soldiers of UFO! And that purple hair! That's a crazy look!!!
Great show takes me back to childhood intelligent smart stong beautiful women
My lady Penelope – aww❤
Never saw enough of these when I was young
They were all bombshells to watch. I loved the whole lot of them.
There's now a run on google searches of ' Gabrielle Drake nude' ! LOL
I can remember UFO being broadcast late on a Friday night because we stayed up to watch it and my dad came in from the pub while it was on. Some of the stories were very adult even if the programme was visually Gerry Anderson dayglo pastel shades and lots of miniature special effects. The one I remember from that Friday night featured Tessa Wyatt as a girl whose youth the aliens stole so that by the end of the episode she was very old – and dead. It was pretty heavy stuff for a kids' show (as was the whole alien body snatchers theme of the series itself). I don't think Gerry intended it for children but he was stuck with a particular image.
Asheya Brough was my girl. So wanted to be a spaceman and share a sleeping pod with her.
I wonder if it's just a bloke thing but 'Checking Boosters' will stay with me the rest of my days! I love this series, very much of it's time but I think that's one of it's many charms. Quite hard hitting stories, stealing human body parts for transplanting into aliens? Very dark and definitely not for kids, I was always surprised that they ran it in the afternoon through the seventies when I was 8, 9, 10 plus, pretty sure my parents weren't watching it with me. Gerry and Sylvia Anderson formed a very big part of my formative years, I am still very much immersed in all things sci-fi. Thanks for a great look at the superb female actors, very interesting to have their personal take on what it was like to film the series.
Hi tech at its 'finest'; for the year 1970. Just need one of those purple wigs; and I'm good to go….
I remember watching this in the states as a kid in the 70's. I still get excited when I hear that theme music. I wish someone would do a retro reboot. keeping all the music and costumes. it would be so fun!!
Wanda Ventham is Benedict Cumberbatch’s Mum…
Gerry and Sylvia were just the best at what they did and everyone looked fantastic. Only the cost prevented more episodes being made.derrick meddings was a genius of special effects.
I always loved how the future was filled with smoking hot women in tiny miniskirts.
What a lovely nostalgia trip this is, and it's great that the female roles were seen as radical even at the time. I didn't watch it when it was on originally (I was born in 1966), but the repeats hooked me. I'd love to watch it from start to finish. Wasn't the theme tune brilliant, too?
and in the min 3:26, she is looking his Iphone……….
I think,is a nice trip down memory lane, here?I didn’t know that Jane Marrow grew up in that area of England?🏴 But,I remember they drove in that ‘empty road’on the show.I still watch the Ufo 🛸 show, and really enjoy it to this day! And,yes….we knew about Star ⭐️ Trek, and Lieutenant Uhura on the Enterprise! But,Nichelle Nichol’s passed away at;90 in Chicago,Illinois. She did change the way women were portrayed on t.v.!😊
My initial crush was Ayshea. She had a certain cuteness but also she looked less a woman than a girl, and one about my age (eleven). However, one day when I said to my Mum that I was going to watch the next episode of UFO, she spoke Gabby's name in a sing song voice which in some unaccountable way caused a transfer of affection!
Wanda Ventham, btw, misremembered the screening times unless she was thinking of a repeat some years after the first run; the latter which, at least, was broadcast at 5pm just after World of Sport with Dickie Davis.
Wanda! 🤤😋
p.s. And the german audience got german voices, therefore, we don't care about british, or american accent, if it is sexy or not. We didn't hear Gabrielle Drake, but the German Acctress Brigitte Grothum. Strakers voice was spoken by Jürgen Thormann. Colonel Freeman by Heinz Petruo, who later became the german voice of Darth Vader in Star Wars.
Great fun. Great memories !
2024 I KNOW THIS IS NOT POLITICALLY CORRECT, BUT ALL THESE WOMAN ARE BEAUTIFUL THEN AND NOW.
So far ahead😎,..it xompletelty dissapeared❤
So far ahead,….you cannot imagine how hot it was,,🙂
Jane Merrow a Crystal Palace girl….all the times I drove past Gypsy Hill Police Station and the TV Transmitter at the top of the hill near the roundabout …….enjoyed watching this.
This was such. JOY watching this and seeing the ladies from back then in this video – thanks for having this up on YouTube! ❤💯
The ladies had me rolling wtheir commentary – the "Jockstrap", and especially about the filming of the opening sequence "I don't think you can see my face?…" 😂🤣
(With the camera truck all close behind her wa bunch od dudes, umm, camera men following close behind her – PRICELESS!! 😋💥💯)
If I've only ever done ONE thing right it my life, it was WATCHING this show and listening to one of the BEST THEME SONGS ever for a SciFi TV show!
If I could go back in time, one stop would be to see who and how they produced the theme music for this show!! 👍♥️
Heck, I'd be excited to watch a video about the UFO music production all by itself!
Again, absolutely marvelous video! ⭐💯
Wanda Ventham is, of course, Benedict Cumberbatch's mum.
Not forgetting the beautiful Anouska Hempel and of course Penny Spencer who had a striking resemblance to my late wife.
Loved this show and still watch it today. The Champions, UFO and Thunderbirds were my favourites as a child. They just seem so much better than what children have today.
I was totally smitten (as an innocent young lad) by Ayshea Brough. Three husbands? LOL
Way ahead of its time glamarous women, and dark we never were certain why they abducting people and bombings cities.where we used for spare parts of they wanted the earth for themselves, and the chilling factor in the series they had been here before ,the pilots of the ufos were human.this was a children's tv series that didn't dum down si fi and fired are young minds to,or maybe into science and writting when older.
Loved this show and the incredible women in the cast were a big part of that.
It's just a shame that there was no acknowledgement of Norma Ronald who played Miss Ealand the secretary to Ed Straker. Sadly passed before this was made but I feel that she shouldn't have been omitted
At the time UFO came out, I was old enough to work out how to fine-tune our TV to catch UFO on the London broadcast signal (our Midland region didn't seem to broadcast it), but not old enough to have the raging hormones that these women would have triggered.
ALL THE GIRLS & GUYS OF UFO WERE/ARE FANTASTIC . CAN SOMEONE ASK AYSHEA IF I CAN BE NUMBER 7 OR IS IT 8 , DONT CARE WHICH ! ONE OF THE FEMALE ACTORS SAID THAT UFO SUFFERED WHEN STAR TREK CAME OVER HERE THATS PROB BECAUSE THE AMERICAN STUDIOS BROUGHT WITH THEM TONS OF MONEY .
