I'm intrigued by Hugh Grant's role in this. I read somewhere that he was the villain of the piece, but thanks to your breakdown here, I spotted him alongside the party in the scene with the Shield/Slow spell. Does he sell them out to become the lordly figure you then see in the arena scene? Mysteries…
The big fat Red Dragon at the end can only be Themberchaud! He is famous for how big and fat he is… Look him up!
And the Tiefling Druid seems to be a 3.5 Edition Tiefling, and 3.5 Edition Druids have about three different ways they could do the Owlbear trick…
They have a feat, and two 9th level spells they could use… I do not think it could be Wild Shape because, if you notice, she starts as a horse, and transforms into the Owlbear without changing back into her Tiefling form first.
This could also be something from the upcoming 5.5 Edition of 6th Edition(whichever they decide to call it) and maybe they are changing the Tieflings back to the way they used to look…
In some of the materials they have also had Elves talk about Owlbears, and they said that they were much older than the Humans think… So they may be implying that they may not actually be the type of creature that most people think they are…
I hope this movie dominates the box office
Personally, I would allow owlbear as a wild shape option, but they wouldn't just get it for free. I'd make it part of a quest or adventure in order for the druid PC to learn how to wild shape into a non-Beast creature. And then I'd probably have their druid enclave mark them as a heretic for corrupting their teachings 😉
I think can everybody else does.
