IMO the Nintendo 64 was a bad console with great potential. It was roughly twice as powerful as the PlayStation, yet Nintendo did some really stupid decisions with it, such as utilizing cartridges instead of CDs out of greed (which severely limited the amount of data a game could have, plus drove away most third-parties from the console), and an overall somewhat lacking game library, with most of the titles the console is remembered for and people see with nostalgia (like SM64, OOT, Banjo-Kazooie, you know the ones) being shockingly mediocre, and third-party titles faring worse due to the console being very hard to program for (another of Nintendo's bafflingly stupid decisions, designed for "keeping low-quality games from being released", which ironically made third-party titles overall worse than in other consoles). There are some good games here and there, though. If Nintendo didn't take those goddamn idiotic decisions, the N64 might have been one of their best consoles. But alas, this ain't the case.
Feel free to disagree if you want, just keep it civil and don't attack me or each other. I know there's many fans of this console, but I personally feel it just ain't that great. No insults, ok?
Cartridges behind the times? I don't recall popping in a cartridge and having to wait half an hour for a random "update" to the game I already purchased… 🤨

was my alltime favorite until the switch. but n64 controller reeeaaalllllyyy puts the joycons to shame eh? at least link and mario won't run offscreen to the left while you're pushing up with the joystick.
seriously though, the n64 controller was actually pretty good.
No way and 64 had WCW nitro four players. One of the greatest multiplayer platform games of the day.
Still my favorite nintendo console. The huge selection of games was so great. I have so many memories as a kid playing this. Plus it was durable. Most new system I've gotten I've eventually had an issue I had to get fixed but my n64 still works to this day! I accidentally dropped one of those heavy old tv's on it back when I was moving but I plugged it in and it still worked perfectly lol
I remember this console I remember playing: star wars rogue squadron, Diddy Kong racing, turok 1&2, Mario 64. so many good memories ❤️
