Dire Wolf Digital and Leder Games have teamed up to bring Root digital, and it’s on early access on steam. But how is it?

Great review, thank you! But the word is "adaptation."
I have seen the board game recommended a few times but have never gotten around to playing it. I may just skip straight to the switch version since I only occasionally get the chance to play my board games. I wonder if there is a way that they could included a mode that could be used on an iPad or Nintendo Switch alongside the physical game. Not having played it, I can’t suggest exactly how that would work in with the game rather than be an annoying gimmick.
Would you prefer this or the tabletop, I was personally leaning towards the adaptation because of how much cheaper it is than the tabletop version
Thanks for the review 🙂 I've been enjoying the physical copy of the board game and was hoping there was an alternative to tabletop simulator on steam. Hard to meet up with people sometimes and this can be convenient.
Trinston was here..
Hi!! Can u find other players online or you must play only with AI?i want to play with other players so if there are no players online i will not to buy it
The game doesn't really seem like it's for me….but damn the adorable woodland creatures has me tempted to pick it up still
great review! any idea if they will add the expansions to the digital version?
The closest you can get to a "Root RTS" is the game Tooth and Tail. Pretty good by the way.
I know they are pretty different, but I like the fact that if you made a few changes in the setting for either Root or Tooth and tail, they could be games set in the same universe.
this game is pure ass factory
Would anyone be able to tell me if I can play local multiplayer AND online at the same time? For example, my wife and me on my PC playing with 2 friends online.
Thanks.
Hello Herald, I am box.
Does anyone know if the Online play is “live” or can it be asynchronous?
I can’t get over you saying “adaption” instead of “adaptation” but I appreciate the review otherwise.
Tutorials sold it I’m buying it lol. I should wait for the iPad version but I’ll try my computer first. I’ve never played Root before so this will be an adventure.
I love the tabletop Root, having only played it a couple of times at my local boardgame cafe. The friends I played with didn't enjoy it as much, so I'm stoked to play the digital version.
Overall solid review that has me hyped for something I didn't know existed before, but I found it strange that you say the frame rates are fine for the most part, while they look pretty bad in the video.
Maybe it's just the choppy, low frame animations, and not the fps of the game that I'm seeing. Whatever the case, I hope it'll get fixed as it develops through early access.
This looks awesome
Those battle animations are egregiously long. The developer needs to introduce an option to skip battle animations, otherwise it's a hard pass for me.
never played root but this might be the best time!
If i learn through the digital version can I teach it to my friends irl no problem?
Wow this looks awesome!
