"Game of The Year or Overrated?" neither is the perfect answer for that.
Do you account replay value? I got the plat, but I don't really see myself beating this game ever again. The pacing is a mixed bag for me and the Loki section was a drag.
Just beat the main story at 42 hours and still got lots of side content to finish! Good story, characters, and great combat. I thought the side missions were just average though and wished we could've used Thor's hammer.
damn you're stepping it up like crazy on these reviews. ragnarok is definitely number 2 for me behind elden ring this year. an amazing game but I felt like things started to fall off a bit toward the end story wise.

I loved the game! It's a 8 out of 10 for me. Won't know my game of the year yet, until the end of the year. As I still have Evil West, Gungrave Gore, and The Callisto Protocol on pre-order. Have to play through those games first, before I can decide on what game I enjoyed the most this year, to pick my game of the year.
As of right now, my top games are Horizon Forbidden West, Elden Ring, Xenoblade Chronicles 3, Bayonetta 3, and God Of War Ragnarok.
Great review! I feel like the combat is smoother than the last one. It feels nicer to juggle enemies with blades. Also, some of the side bosses are tough as hell (they give the valkyries from 2018 a run for their money).

9 out 10 that ending was atrocious
I wish Ragnarok was delayed to 2023. So they could have polished the game more to become a truly masterpiece
Issues:
writing is cheesey and sometimes straight out bad
Pacing issues
Handholding
Chatty companion NPCs
Unsatisfying ending
Yeah it's definitely my game of the year. I still think Eldin ring will win the goty. Whoever wins best game direction, won't win goty. So if I see Eldin ring winning that, then I already know that Gowr is gonna win goty. The other way around too. If Gowr get best game direction, it's not winning goty. It's gonna be an extremely close race. Both of them deserve to be honest. And can we finally say that Kratos is the greatest character in video game history already. This is a masterclass in character development.
